Abstract

In the 21st century, learners are not merely recipients of information, educators are not solely facilitators of learning, and learning resources encompass more than materials for the exchange of knowledge and skills. However, in practice, effective implementation of learning is not straightforward. Engineering Drawing 1 is one of the compulsory foundational courses in the early semester of the Building Engineering Education Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. One of the learning objectives of this course is mastery of CAD (Computer Aided Design). Nevertheless, various factors contribute to challenges in achieving the course objectives. The encountered difficulties are divided into two factors: internal factors including Motivation, Interest, Attitude, and Concentration, and external factors including Facilities and Infrastructure, Learning Materials or Media, Economic, and Environment. This research adopts a descriptive analysis approach focusing on quantitative aspects. The study was conducted on March 25-26, 2024. The research subjects consisted of 35 students from the 2022 cohort of the Building Engineering Education Program. The questionnaire results indicate that external factors are predominant, with material aspects accounting for 31.4% and economic aspects for 45.7%. Although internal and external factors do not show significant results individually, both still influence the learning of Engineering Drawing 1. Therefore, it can be concluded that further analysis is needed regarding the learning difficulties of Engineering Drawing 1 in the Building Engineering Education Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the context of education, particularly in Mechanical Engineering subjects. Its aim is to enhance students’ understanding of Mechanical Engineering concepts and identify its positive impact on learning outcomes. The method employed is literature review, involving data collection and analysis from various literature sources. The study demonstrates that PBL significantly benefits students’ learning outcomes across different educational contexts. Several studies support the notion that PBL improves students’ critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and collaborative abilities in understanding Mechanical Engineering concepts. These findings provide a robust foundation for the development and implementation of PBL in education, including vocational high schools and Mechanical Engineering subjects. The conclusion drawn is that PBL is an effective learning approach, especially in the context of Mechanical Engineering education, by engaging students in solving real-life problems. Therefore, the adoption of PBL is expected to enhance overall educational quality and better prepare students for the increasingly complex demands of the future workforce. Suggestions for further research include continuously developing and testing innovative teaching methods, including PBL, and enhancing collaboration and supportive educational policies. Regular evaluation of teaching method effectiveness is also crucial to ensure learning objectives are achieved. It is anticipated that this research will make a significant contribution to the advancement of education in the future.

Abstract

As time goes by, education becomes important and necessary to produce a generation that is superior and capable in skills. In particular, development in vocational education continues to be carried out in order to produce high quality human resources. This research aims to describe a literature review regarding the application of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in land measurement techniques in vocational schools. This learning model aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in land measurement engineering material. The research method used is descriptive analysis with a literature review approach by reviewing and concluding articles from journals and books. The use of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in learning is considered to be able to help students to solve problems that exist in the real world later.

Abstract

Regarding the philosophical approach to education, of course it contains many aspects and is verycomplex in nature. Because of its complex nature, there is no sufficient limit to explain the nature of education in its entirety. Limitations on the Philosophical Approach to Educational approaches made by experts vary, and their content sometimes differs from one another. These differences mayoccur because of differences in orientation, the basic concepts used, the analytical technique in writing this journal is thematic, where the results of the research show that there will be many benefits if you understand the philosophical foundation of education.

Abstract

This research discusses the importance of education in developing students' potential, especially in Vocational High Schools (SMK) with a focus on the Building Modeling and Information Design (DPIB) department which teaches Building Interior Software Applications (APLIB) using the Sketchup application. The aim of the research is to overcome the low scores in the APLIB subject which are thought to be caused by students' lack of creativity in using the Sketchup application. The method proposed to increase student creativity is Project Based Learning (PjBL), which places students at the center of learning and encourages them to work independently in solving tasks or problems. The results of the literature review show that PjBL can increase student creativity by promoting understanding, students' ability to solve problems, use of media, and creativity in creating products. PjBL can also increase student involvement in learning and help them become autonomous and independent learners. Apart from that, the implementation of PjBL is expected to help vocational school students produce creative ideas using the Sketchup application and improve their abilities in solving problems and optimizing media use. This research concludes that the application of Project Based Learning (PjBL) in vocational education, especially in the context of using the Sketchup application and developing building interior design skills, can have a positive impact in improving students' creative thinking abilities.
