Abstract

The objective of this research is to apply the strategy formulation framework in arranging a competitive strategy for Barakesna coffee shop and angkringan. The object of this qualitative descriptive research is Barakesna, a coffee shop with Javanese concept in Malang City, East Java. Barakesna coffee shop and angkringan is a food-and-beverage business that is currently engaged in an increasing competition. This research starts by conducting external environment analysis to identify the business’ opportunities and threats, followed by internal environment analysis to identify its strengths and weaknesses. The result of this analysis was used as the input for IE matrix, SWOT matrix, and QSPM analyses. Based on the outcome of the analysis using IFE and EFE matrix, the observation continued to the IE matrix, which suggests that Barakesna is on the fifth cell, indicating that the company is in hold-and-maintain condition. Then, the results of the QSPM analysis show that market penetration is the suggested strategy with the TAS score of 5.05. The company is advised to focus its business strategy on massively enhancing the market share of its products. The implementation of this strategy is believed to be helpful for the business to increase its competitiveness amid the fierce competition.

Abstract

This research departs form the war of talent, a phenomenon of diminishing number of potential work forces occurring in various industries. As a response, companies are competing to attract employee candidates to apply for jobs. The objective of this research is to identify the partial and simultaneous effects of employer branding activity and corporate reputation on people’s intention to apply for a job. The population of this quantitative explanatory research is active students of bachelor’s and associate degrees of Universitas Brawijaya. Using the Slovin formula, the sample size was set at 398. The data was harvested via Likert-scaled questionnaires and was assessed using instrument test, classical assumption test, hypothesis test, and multiple linear regression performed in SPSS. This study finds that employer branding activity and corporate reputation partially and simultaneously influence the intention to apply for a job. Therefore, it is implied that appropriate strategies in employer branding activity and successful corporate reputation maintenance can increase the intention of employee candidates to apply for a job.

Abstract

Hotel industry has been predicted to enjoy significant increase in occupancy in 2023 following the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is definitely the case for hotels in Bali, which has experienced a considerable progress after the outbreak was announced to be over. Therefore, the companies need to upgrade the performance of the employees to respond to the escalating demand. Two of the factors that affect employee performance are training and workplace environment. This research attempts to analyze the influence of training and workplace environment on employee performance at Melia Hotel in Bali. The respondents of this quantitative explanatory research were selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 163 employees. The data was harvested via Likert-scaled questionnaires and was analyzed using multiple linear regression in SPSS version 26. The results of the t test indicate that training significantly influences employee performance. Then, workplace environment indicating its significant impact on employee performance. Finally, training and workplace environment simultaneously affect employee performance.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of training, competency, and work motivation on the employees performance of PT Tangguh Karya Unggul Contraktor. The success or failure of a company in achieving success depends greatly on the ability of human resources to carry out the orders given by the company. Apart from that, human resources have an important role in realizing the goals of an organization. The population of this research is all employees of PT. Tangguh Karya Unggul Contraktor, numbering 115 people. The sampling method used is the saturated sampling method, where the number of samples is the same as the population. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis. The primary data for this research was distributed through questionnaires to 115 PT employee respondents. The resilience of Superior Works is measured using a Likert scale measuring instrument. The results of this research show that training, competence, and work motivation partially and simultaneously have a positive effect.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the effects of perceived risk and electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) on purchase decision with trust as the mediating variable and Dust La Stella, a clothing brand, as the object. This study uses primary data obtained from questionnaires, which were distributed to 118 people who have purchased the product of the brand as the respondents. The results of the analysis using Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modeling demonstrate that perceived risk significantly and negatively influences the purchase decision, that e-WOM positively and significantly affects the purchase decision, and that trust positively and significantly influences the purchase decision. Furthermore, perceived risk negatively and significantly impacts trust, and trust does not mediate the impact of e-WOM and perceived risk on the purchase decision.
