Abstract

This paper discussed the benefits of funding tertiary education adequately in Nigeria. Secondary data collected from print and online publications were used for the paper. The paper concluded that adequate funding of tertiary institutions in Nigeria will lead to sufficient funds in the various higher institutions, development of infrastructural facilities, employment of adequate staff, increment in salaries and welfares packages of staffs, reduction in brain-drain problems, prevention of strike actions in the institutions, attraction of international lecturers, research development, improvement in international ranking and attainment of an effective staff training programme. The paper suggested increasing investment in tertiary education. Tertiary institutions should be allowed to charge tuition fees within the parameters set by the government, but the Education Bank needs to be established to offer federal government-backed loans to students who may require them. Federal, state and institutional scholarship awards to help indigent students to pay tuition. Government institutionalized endowment funds for universities to expand their pool of funds. Tertiary institution should use their alumni to generate more revenue and give them incentives to contribute to their university endowment programmes. The government should institutionalize a new model of funding for tertiary education that needs to be developed in a way that will set objective parameters for the allocation of funds from the tertiary education trust fund (TETFUND) based on verified outputs in teaching, research and community service,

Abstract

The article discusses the production of a surface diffusion nitride-oxide layer on low-alloy structural steel with specified structures and properties. To develop a controlled technology for nitro-oxidation of low-alloy carbon steel, the dependences of the composition and structure of the nitrided and oxide layer on the chemical composition of the steel and the technological parameters of the process were studied. Technical iron was used as a model alloy and samples of industrial steel grades 40X, P6M5 and steel 45 were processed. Saturation temperatures were studied in the ranges above and below the eutectoid temperature for the “Fe-N” system and, accordingly, for the “Fe-O” system and it was found that the best structures are at saturation temperatures below the eutectoid.

This research endeavors to delve into the intricate realm of classifying scientific papers, concentrating on discerning categories such as dissertations, scientific articles, theses, and other pertinent types. By meticulously examining the unique attributes, objectives, and structural elements inherent in each paper type, this study aims to furnish researchers, students, and readers with a comprehensive comprehension of the diverse assortment of scientific papers and their idiosyncratic features. Moreover, this article deliberates upon the significance of accurate classification with regard to proficient literature retrieval, knowledge dissemination, and academic publication. Additionally, it scrutinizes the conceivable challenges and deliberations involved in formulating classification systems for scientific papers, encompassing the dynamic nature of scientific communication and the emergence of alternative formats such as preprints and data papers. By augmenting our grasp of scientific paper classification, this research contributes to the enhancement of accessibility, organization, and utilization of scientific knowledge.
