Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Progressive Islamic Education in women's empowerment from the perspective of Suud Sarim Karimullah. It employs a qualitative research methodology, focusing on a literature review that includes an analysis of the works of Suud Sarim Karimullah and related literature, such as relevant books and journals, analyzed based on structuralism theory. This study demonstrates that Progressive Islamic Education, which combines fundamental Islamic principles with modern values such as gender equality and human rights, can enhance women's access to quality education. This education not only empowers women in terms of education but also increases their participation in the workforce and political decision-making. Additionally, Progressive Islamic Education helps to overcome social and cultural barriers, as well as gender stereotypes that limit women's roles. By involving the Muslim community, including religious leaders and families, Progressive Islamic Education can foster positive change in society. The impact of women's empowerment through Progressive Islamic Education is evident in the improvement of economic well-being, poverty reduction, and increased social stability. Structuralism analysis shows that Progressive Islamic Education can shape social structures that support change, address patriarchal norms, and promote sustainable gender equality. Therefore, from the perspective of Suud Sarim Karimullah, Progressive Islamic Education is an effective tool for women's empowerment and the development of an inclusive and just society.

Abstract

Cultivating the foundations of moral values and diversity in children is important from an early developmental stage. This article aims to explain how teachers introduce aspects of multicultural education to children. This research uses a qualitative research design in the form of a case study with seven teachers as respondents. Data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation techniques and then analyzed using thematic analysis consisting of three steps recommended by Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and inference. The results showed that in introducing diversity, teachers provide role models for children, integrate material about cultural diversity into the learning curriculum, use interesting learning methods and media, invite children to visit historical sites and places of worship, hold activities and celebrate holidays related to cultural diversity, and hold extracurricular activities to introduce cultural diversity. It is expected that this article will have significant implications for educational practice, for ongoing professional development to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively teach and model diversity and inclusion, and for educational institutions to prioritize the development and implementation of curricula that reflect and celebrate cultural diversity.

Abstract

This review synthesizes existing research on the intricate relationship between gender and academic writing, exploring gendered writing styles, perceptions of writing quality, representation in academic publishing, intersectionality with other social identities, and interventions to promote gender equity. Findings reveal nuanced variations in writing practices, with female scholars tending toward more tentative styles and male scholars favoring assertive approaches. Evaluation biases persist, perpetuating gender stereotypes that impact grading and recognition. Structural inequities manifest in academic publishing landscapes, hindering diverse representation. An intersectional lens elucidates the compounding effects of gender, race, class, and disciplinary affiliations. Interventions proposed include gender-neutral guidelines, bias training, diversity initiatives, and institutional policies supporting inclusivity. While progress has been made, ongoing efforts are needed to dismantle persisting biases, address inequities, and cultivate equitable spaces valuing diverse voices in knowledge production. This comprehensive review informs future research directions and institutional strategies toward gender equity in academic writing.

Abstract

This study examines the problem of gender bias and bullying in boarding schools in Indonesia with the aim of identifying the problem profile, influencing factors, and applicable solutions. The research method used is a qualitative approach with an in-depth literature review with a literature approach and several journals that discuss bullying in boarding schools. The research findings show that gender bias is manifested in restrictions on access to education and stereotyped gender role expectations among santri. The separation between male and female students has become a pesantren tradition with the aim of more focused access to education. However, stereotypical views of gender roles also affect various activities in pesantren. Bullying appears in the form of verbal intimidation, social exclusion, and physical violence between students, and even victims of bullying can experience significant psychological distress. The implications of this study are the need for increased awareness and education on gender equality and anti-bullying, the adoption of structured anti-discrimination and anti-bullying policies, and strengthening the role of supervisors and counselors in pesantren. This study provides a foundation for further efforts in developing inclusive education policies and effective intervention strategies to address issues of gender bias and bullying in pesantren education settings.
