Abstract

Class XI pupils at SMA Negeri 1 Suliki still have room to grow academically. The learning model that is employed during the learning process is one of the aspects that impact the final product of the learning. The REACT Learning Model—which stands for "relating, experiencing, applying, cooperating, and transferring"—could be one approach to making it better. This study aims to answer the question, "Do students in class XI at SMA Negeri 1 Suliki perform better in mathematics when they use the REACT learning model compared to when they use conventional learning?" This study used a quasi-experimental design with a control group that was only given a post-test rather than an equal one. Students in grades XI F2 and XI F3 at SMA Negeri 1 Suliki made up the study's population. The study's instrument was a description-based last assessment of learning outcomes. Class XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Suliki who used traditional learning models for mathematics performed worse than those who used Learning (REACT).Keywords– Mathematics Learning Outcomes, REACT Learning Model, Conventional Learning Model

Abstract

By comparing the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model with a more traditional learning model, this study hopes to identify gaps in learners' understanding of mathematical concepts. Those enrolled in class XII MIPA at SMAN 4 Sungai Penuh in the 2024-2025 school year will be the main subject of this research. This research is a quasi-experiment. Four groups of learners from class XII MIPA SMAN 4 Sungai Penuh became the research population. There are 35 students in the experimental class (XII A) and control class (XII D). To collect data for this study, we gave the participants a final test to measure how well they understood the math concepts. After that, t-test was used to test the collected data. Based on the analysis, the P-value was 0.034, which is lower than α. Therefore, those who used the Discovery Learning model to acquire math concepts outperformed their peers who used more traditional learning methods. Keywords– Discovery Learning, Mathematical concept understanding

Abstract

To determine how well learning goals have been met, learning outcomes are essential. Class VIII students at SMPN 30 Padang continue to have less-than-ideal academic performance, nonetheless. The purpose of this research is to find out how eighth graders at SMPN 30 Padang fared academically in mathematics when taught using the Geogebra program and the Discovery Learning instructional paradigm. This study is a quasi-experimental design with a control group that only received the posttest. Students from SMPN 30 Padang in the eighth grade made up the study's population. A basic random selection process was used to select the sample classes, which are VIII A and VIII D. The research tool used was an evaluation of students' final mathematical performance. A comparison of the experimental and control classes' final exam scores showed that the former averaged 72.8 and the latter 64.5. At a significance level of α = 0.05, the t-test data analysis of the final test results produced a P-value of 0.017. It follows that eighth graders at SMPN 30 Padang who use the Geogebra program in conjunction with the Discovery Learning concept outperform their peers who follow a more traditional classroom approach. Keywords–  learning outcomes, Discovery Learning, Geogebra

Abstract

The skill of understanding mathematical concepts is the most essential thing for students to master because it is the basis for achieving other abilities and learning objectives. However, the reality is that this skill is still fairly low at SMP N 1 Sintuk Toboh Gadang (Sintoga). As evidenced by the results of observations and initial tests, most students have not been able to solve problems correctly. Alternatives to improve these skills include through the implementation of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) type cooperative learning model. The focus of this research is to reveal and describe whether the implementation of the NHT model is better than direct learning. This study is a quasi-experimental research. The research instrument is a test. The t-test results showed that the P-value = 0.03 (α = 0.05) means reject H0. It is concluded that the implementation of the NHT model is better than direct learning in terms of concept understanding. Keywords– Understand Mathematical Concepts, NHT

Abstract

Understanding mathematics concept is very important for students to master, because mathematics concepts are interrelated so that learning them must be coherent and continuous.  But the facts in the field, this level of understanding for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 7 Padang is still in the low category. The author provides a solution, namely the use of the think pair square learn model. This studying aims to see the difference in conceptual understanding of students who use think pair square whether it is superior to convention learning. The type of research used is quasi experiment with static group design. The population is students of class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Padang, class VIII.3 and VIII.2 as the sample class. The finaly test in the form of an essai as an instrument. After the t-test was conducted, the P-value=0.015 was achieved. Because the P-value <0.05 consequently reject . Therefore, it is conclud that the level of students understanding the concept using think pair square is higher than using conventional. Keywords— Think Pair Square, Understanding of Mathematics Concept, Conventional Learning.

Abstract

–  Along with their progress in mathematics education, students must develop the ability to solve mathematical problems of increasing complexity. Research conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Banuhampu shows that this competency is still lacking. The purpose of the study was to determine whether the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in teaching this competency is effective or not. The participants in this study were eighth grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Banuhampu. A simple random selection strategy was used to select the sample classes (class VIII.9 and VIII.8). For the control group, we used a non-equivalent posttest only design. The results support the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1) if the P-value is smaller than the significance threshold (?). The Problem-Based Learning paradigm is proven to improve problem-solving skills through empirical evidence. Keywords – Problem Based Learning, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Direct Learning

Abstract

Students need to demonstrate that they can communicate mathematically. Class IX pupils at SMP Negeri 1 Solok continue to demonstrate a low level of competence, nonetheless. The chosen strategy makes use of Geogebra to execute the Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodology. The purpose of this research was to compare the performance of students in ninth grade at SMP Negeri 1 Solok who received direct teaching with those who received PBL models with the help of geogebra. A non-equivalent control group that received just posttests was used in the quasi-experimental study. We may reject the null hypothesis (H0) because the t-test yielded a P-value of 0.008. In comparison to direct learning, the results show that the PBL paradigm, when augmented with geogebra, is more effective..Keywords– Problem Based Learning Model, Geogebra, Mathematical Communication, Direct Learnin

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving proficiency is an important talent that math educators want to develop in their students.  However, this ability in students is still very poor and substandard. Some people have proposed the CTL model as a way to overcome this problem. The purpose of this study is to compare the problem solving skills of eighth grade students at SMPN 16 Padang when taught Number Patterns using two different approaches: the conventional classroom method and the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. By using a control group that only participated in the post-test, this study used a quasi-experimental approach. When comparing the CTL model with the conventional model, eighth grade students at SMPN 16 Padang who used the CTL model showed better results. Keywords– Contextual Teaching and Learning, Conventional Learning, Mathematical Solving Ability

Abstract

Angle trisection is a geometry concept that refers to the splitting of an angle into three equal parts, so that each part formed has the same angle size. This angle trisection became one of the three most interesting and unsolved mathematical problems during the last three centuries BC. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to examine the history of angle trisection in the Thales-Euclid era and measure students' ability to solve angle trisection problems. This research is a qualitative research that uses case study and literature review methods with data collection techniques through tests and interviews. The research subjects were selected by purposive sampling method from three high school students. Furthermore, the data obtained were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively with triangulation techniques. The purpose of this analysis is to ensure that the data obtained from various sources are valid. The results showed the extent of students' understanding in responding and creating how to solve this angle trisection using a ruler and a period. A detailed presentation of the categories of answers given by learners will be presented in this paper. Keywords–Angular Trisection, Thales-Euclid Era, History of Mathematics

Abstract

An important learning objective for students is to gain an understanding of mathematical concepts. However, class XI at SMA Negeri 2 Lintau Buo still has a low level of competence in this ability. One way to improve it is by applying the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) model. This study used a quasi-experimental design, more specifically a posttest only non-equivalent control group design, for its research technique. Students of class XI TP 2024/2025 became the subject of this study. Classes XI.F2 and XI.F1 were randomly selected from the student population to be the research samples. Quizzes and tests were the tools used. The P-value of 0.000, as determined from the test results, is considered statistically significant. As a result, we can say that H0 is not true. Grade XI students who used the STAD model outperformed their peers who relied on direct teaching. Keywords– Understanding Mathematical Concepts, Conventional Learning, Student Teams Achievement Division
