Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to find out whether there is an interactive effect between learning interest and self-discipline on English learning achievement of student in State Junior High School in Bekasi city. To determine whether there is an effect of learning interest on English learning achievement of student in State Junior High School in Bekasi city. To determine whether there is an effect of self-discipline on English learning achievement of student in State Junior High School in Bekasi city. The research hypothesis tested includes: 1) There is a significant interactive effect between learning interest and self-discipline on the achievement of learning English. 2) There is a significant effect of learning interest on learning achievement in English. 3) There is a significant effect of self-discipline on the achievement of learning English. The study was conducted by survey method. In this study the population was secondary school students of State Junior High School in Bekasi city and 77 students was selected out of the entire population. The data were analyzed statistically using linier regression analyses. The result showed that: 1) There is a significant interactive effect between learning interest and self- discipline on English learning achievement of student in State Junior High School in Bekasi city 2) There is a significant effect of learning interest on English learning achievement of student in State Junior High School in Bekasi city. 3) There is a significant effect of self- discipline on English learning achievement of student in State Junior High School in Bekasi cityKeyword: learning interest, self-discipline, English learning achievement Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh minat belajar dan disiplin diri secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMP Negeri di Bekasi. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh disiplin diri terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMP Negeri di Bekasi. Hipotesis penelitian yang di uji meliputi: 1) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan minat belajar dan disiplin diri secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. 2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan minat belajar terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. 3) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan disiplin diri terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode survei. Populasi adalah siswa-siswa kelas VIII SMP negeri di kota Bekasi dengan besar sampel 77 siswa. Dengan pengujian menggunakan teknik regresi ganda. Hasil pengujian hipotesis diperoleh kesimpulan sebagai berikut: 1) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan minat belajar dan disiplin diri secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMPN kota Bekasi. 2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan minat belajar terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMPN kota Bekasi. 3) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan disiplin diri terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa SMPN kota Bekasi.Kata kunci: minat belajar, disiplin diri, prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris

Abstract

Abstract:The Effect of Student Perception on Learning Styles and Intellectual Intelligence towards English Learning Achievement. This study aims to determine the effect of student perception on learning styles and intellectual intelligence towards English learning achievement. This research used survey method with correlation and multiple regression technique, the population of senior high school in Serang, the writer has taken 3 schools there are SMAN 1 Serang, SMAN 2 Serang, SMAN 3 Serang, and used proportional random sampling technique. The sample of 92 respondent. Multiple correlation and regression technique used for data analysis using SPSS application program. The results of research that there are effects between students perception on learning styles and intellectual intelligence towards English learning achievement. Keywords: perceptions, learning style, intellectual intelligence, English learning achievement Abstrak:Pengaruh persepsi peserta didik atas gaya belajar dan kecerdasan intelektual terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh persepsi peserta didik atas gaya belajar dan kecerdasan intelektual terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey dengan teknik korelasi dan regresi ganda, dengan populasi SMA Negeri di Kota Serang, yang di ambil 3 sekolah yaitu SMAN 1 Kota Serang, SMAN 2 Kota Serang, SMAN 3 Kota Serang, dan melalui teknik sampling acak proposional diperoleh sampel sebesar 92 orang. Teknik korelasi dan regresi ganda digunakan untuk analisis data dengan menggunakan program aplikasi SPSS. Hasil Penelitian membuktikan bahwa persepsi peserta didik atas gaya belajar dan kecerdasan intelektual berpengaruh terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris. Kata kunci: persepsi, gaya belajar, kecerdasan intelektual, prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris

Abstract

Abstrak.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui 1) Pengaruh sikap berbahasa dan daya kreativitas secara bersama-sama terhadap keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Negeri di kabupaten Purwakarta. 2) Pengaruh sikap berbahasa terhadap keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Negeri di kabupaten Purwakarta. 3) Pengaruh daya kreataivitas terhadap keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Negeri di kabupaten Purwakarta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah para peserta didik kelas XI SMK Negeri di kabupaten Purwakarta  provinsi Jawa Barat, yang terdiri dari 2 sekolah, yaitu SMK Negeri 2 and 3 Purwakarta yang berjumlah 944 siswa.  Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan : 1)Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan sikap berbahasa dan daya kreativitas secara bersama-sama terhadap keterampilan berbicara Bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Negeri di Kabupaten Purwakarta. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai Sig. 0,000 < 0,05 dan Fh = 14,697.2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan sikap berbahasa terhadap keterampilan berbicara Bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Negeri di Kabupaten Purwakarta. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai Sig. 0,000 < 0,05 dan th = 3,765. 3) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan daya kreativitas terhadap keterampilan berbicara Bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Negeri di Kabupaten Purwakarta. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai Sig. 0,007 < 0,05 dan th = 2,746. Kata Kunci: Sikap berbahasa, daya kreativitas, keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris

Abstract

AbstractThe aims of the research are: to know illocutionary acts, to know the types of illocutionary acts and to know the speaker’s intention in the novel of ‘And the Mountains Echoed’.The technique of collecting data of illocutionary acts are listening to the audio, reading novel ‘And the Mountains Echoed’, making research instrument. The research method that is used descriptive qualitative and technique of data analysis that used in this research is data reduction, such as: sorting, coding, categorizing, classifying, and interpreting the data; making data display such as the table of research instrument and concluding. The researcher analyzed the data from 9 chapters and 446 pages of the novel. The trustworthiness of the data is conducted to measure credibility, transferability, dependability and confirmability. The research findings are: 1). The researcher found the speakers’ utterances contained illocutionary acts in the novel. 2). The utterances in the novel contained five types of illocutionary acts, namely: directive, commissive, assertive, expressive and declarative. 3). The illocutionary acts were used by the speakers to convey their intentions to the addressee, such as: directive is used to ask someone to do something, commissive is used to intend the speaker’s commits, assertive is used to state the speaker’s belief, expressive is used to show speaker’s feeling, and declarative is used to change the condition. These are the speakers’ intention in the novel of ‘And the Mountains Echoed’ written by Khaled Hosseini. Key words : Illocutionary Act, Novel

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of the research is to investigate phonological and morphological errors in students’ reading aloud pronunciation. From the population of the nutritionist students (120 students), the 40 students were taken as sample of the research by purposive sampling technique. The data of the research were collected by recording the students’ pronunciation when they read aloud a text given by the lecturer. The method used is descriptive with content analysis technique. Based on the analysis results obtained, the most common phonological errors made by students in connection with surface structure taxonomy are substitutions in vowels (58.28%), and causes of error are intralingual errors in (47.42%). The most common morphological error made by students in connection with a surface structure taxonomy are omissions in suffixes (78.06%), and cause of error are intralingual errors in suffixes (95.90 %). Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kemampuan membaca cepat dan sikap terhadap kemampuan menulis eksposisi bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini  menggunakan metode survei, dengan populasi siswa SMK Swasta di Kabupaten Indramayu, melalui teknik acak proporsional diperoleh sampel sebanyak 68 siswa. Teknik analisis regresi digunakan untuk analisis data dengan menggunakan program aplikasi SPSS. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa kemampuan membaca cepat dan sikap berbahasa berkontribusi terhadap kemampuan menulis eksposisi bahasa Inggris. Kata kunci: menulis eksposisi bahasa Inggris, membaca cepat, sikap berbahasa

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penguasaan tata bahasa dan penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris. Metode yang digunakan adalah survey. Sampel berukuran 314 siswa diambil secara acak (random sampling). Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan dengan metode tes. Analisis data dengan menggunakan metode statistik deskriptif, analisis regresi linear berganda, uji statistik dengan uji t dan uji F. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penguasaan tata bahasa dan kosakata secara bersama-sama terhadap kemampuan menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Swasta di Kota Tangerang. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai sig = 0,000 < 0,05 dan Fhitung = 26,745. Secara bersama-sama penguasaan tata bahasa dan penguasaan kosakata memberikan kontribusi sebesar 16,2% terhadap kemampuan menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris. 2) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penguasaan tata bahasa terhadap kemampuan menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Swasta di Kota Tangerang. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai sig = 0,000 < 0,05 dan thitung = 7,247. Secara parsial penguasaan tata bahasa memberikan kontribusi sebesar 13,9 %. terhadap variabel kemampuan menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris. 3) Terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris siswa SMK Swasta di Kota Tangerang. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai sig = 0,004 < 0,05 dan  thitung = 2,880. Secara parsial penguasaan kosakata memberikan kontribusi sebesar 2,3%. terhadap variabel kemampuan menulis teks naratif Bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci: Penguasaan Tata Bahasa, Kosakata, Kemampuan Menulis Teks Naratif Bahasa Inggris AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of grammar mastery and vocabulary mastery towards the ability to write English narrative text. The method used is a survey. The results of the study show: 1) There is a significant influence of the mastery of grammar and vocabulary mastery together on the ability to write English narrative texts of private vocational students in Tangerang City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of sig = 0,000 <0,05 and Fobserve = 26,745. The mastery of both grammar and vocabulary contributed 16.2% towards the ability to write English narrative text. 2) There is a significant influence on grammar mastery towards the ability to write English narrative texts of private Vocational students in Tangerang City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of sig = 0,000 <0,05 and t observe = 7,247. Partially mastery of grammar contributes 13.9%. towards the variable ability to write English narrative text. 3) There is a significant influence on vocabulary mastery towards the ability to write English narrative texts of private vocational students in Tangerang City. This is evidenced by the acquisition of sig = 0.004 <0.05 and t observe = 2.880. Abstract

The aims of this research are to find 1) the interaction effect of teaching media and vocabulary mastery on the students’ speaking skill. 2) the effect of teaching media on students’ speaking skill, 3) the effect of vocabulary mastery on students’ speaking skill, The research methodology used is experiment. The sample size of 72 students which consists of 36 for experiment class and 36 for control class, and the sampling technique used is cluster sampling. Data collection is obtained by testing their vocabulary mastery and speaking skill. Data analysis is using descriptive statistics, normality test, homogeneity test, and two ways ANOVA to test hypothesis testing. The research results conclude 1) there is no significant interaction effect of teaching media and vocabulary jointly on student’s speaking skill. This is proved by the results of significance value (sig) is 0.450 and Fo = 0.577. Because Sig.=0.450 > 0.05, then Ho is accepted and H1 is rejected. 2) There is a significant effect of teaching media on students’ speaking skill. This is proved by the result of significance value (sig) is 0.000 and Fo = 16.236. Because Sig.=0.000 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, 3) There is a significant effect of vocabulary mastery on student’s speaking skill. This is proved by the result of significance value (sig) is 0.001 and Fo= 11.770. Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan pengaruh kebiasaan membaca dan penguasaan kosakata secara bersama-sama terhadap kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa SMA Swasta di Jakarta.  Jika memang ada pengaruh yang signifikan, maka seberapa kuat pengaruh kebiasaan membaca dan penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa SMA Swasta di Jakarta.Kata kunci: Kebiasaan membaca, penguasaan kosakata,  kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris. Abstract: The objective of this study was to know the effect of reading habit and vocabulary toward the student’s speaking skill at private senior high school in Jakarta.  If there are significant effect, how strong the effect both of reading habit and vocabulary mastery toward the student’s speaking skill at private senior high school in Jakarta.Keywords: Reading habit, vocabulary mastery, speaking mastery
