Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of access to clean drinking water and access to proper sanitation on poverty levels in 18 districts in West Java during 2020–2024. Using a quantitative approach and panel data regression, the study tested the relationship between the two independent variables and poverty as the dependent variable. The results of the analysis showed that access to clean drinking water had a negative and significant effect on poverty, with a regression coefficient of -0.05784 and a p-value of 0.0484 (<0.05). This means that every 1% increase in access to clean drinking water reduces the poverty rate by 0.05784%. Better access to clean water has a direct impact on reducing the economic burden and improving the welfare of the poor. Meanwhile, access to proper sanitation has a negative coefficient of -0.01350, but its effect is not statistically significant (p-value 0.3916> 0.05). This shows that although proper sanitation is important for quality of life and health, in this model its effect on poverty has not been seen to be directly significant. These findings emphasize the importance of expanding access to clean drinking water and sanitation as an effort to alleviate poverty in West Java. Limited access to basic services affects health, productivity, and household expenditure which ultimately worsens poverty. Therefore, local governments need to focus on inclusive and sustainable policies, especially improving basic services such as clean water and health. This study is expected to be a reference for formulating a more effective and comprehensive poverty alleviation strategy in West Java.

Abstract

Many regions in Indonesia face structural problems such as economic inequality. Economic inequality remains a significant obstacle to the development process, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. The objective of this study is to determine the influence of Unemployment Rate, Education Index, and Poverty Rate on Economic Inequality in East Java Province. This study employs a quantitative method using secondary data analysis from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for the years 2010–2023. The analysis method used is multiple regression with classical assumption tests. The results of the study indicate that the Education Index and Percentage of Poor Population variables have a significant and positive impact on economic inequality, while the unemployment rate has a significant but negative impact on economic inequality in East Java Province. These findings suggest the need for further analysis of other factors influencing economic inequality to achieve equitable welfare for the community. The implications of this study can serve as a reference for the government in formulating inclusive development policies to reduce economic inequality in East Java.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Provincial Minimum Wage (PMW), Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR), and Population Growth Rate (PGR) on Employment Opportunities (EO) across 20 most populous provinces in Indonesia from 2017 to 2024. Using a quantitative approach and panel data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency, the analysis applies the Fixed Effect Model selected through Chow and Hausman tests. The Outcomes indicate that PMW has a significant negative effect on EO, implying that wage increases without corresponding productivity growth can reduce job absorption. Conversely, LFPR has a significant positive effect, reflecting that a higher labor force engagement boosts employment. PGR has a negative but statistically insignificant effect. The F-test confirms that all three variables jointly influence EO. These results highlight the need to harmonize wage regulations, human capital development (HDI), and population planning to support inclusive and sustainable employment in regions experiencing high demographic pressures.

Abstract

Islamic economics emerged as an alternative system based on Islamic principles to overcome inequality and social injustice in the conventional economic system. This article aims to examine the role of Islamic economics in achieving social justice through four main pillars: digitization of Islamic finance, empowerment of Sharia-based MSMEs, strengthening Islamic microfinance institutions, and optimizing ZISWAF (zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf). This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach using national and international journals published since 2021. The results of the study show that Islamic economics has great potential in building a fair, inclusive, and sustainable economic system if supported by technological innovation, integrative policies, and improving public literacy. This research emphasizes the need for synergy between the government, Islamic financial institutions, business actors, and the community to strengthen the role of the Islamic economy in national development. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen regulations and cross-sector collaboration so that the implementation of the Islamic economy can run optimally in various lines of life. With sustained support, Islamic economics is believed to be able to be a solution to complex modern economic challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Assistance Services and Transaction Security on User Emotional Experience, with Customer Satisfaction as a mediating variable in the context of using a digital wallet (e-wallet). This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal-comparative method. Data collection was carried out by distributing online questionnaires using Google Form to 150 respondents who are active e-wallet users. The research model consists of four latent variables, each of which is measured by three reflective indicators. The data analysis technique uses the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the help of SmartPLS software, and is supported by descriptive analysis using SPSS. Validity and reliability tests are carried out through outer loading tests, Average Variance Extracted (AVE), Cronbach's Alpha, and Composite Reliability. Hypothesis testing is carried out by considering the path coefficient, t-statistic, and p-value values. The results of the study indicate that Assistance Services and Transaction Security have a significant effect on Customer Satisfaction. Assistance Services also have a direct effect on Emotional Experience, while Transaction Security does not have a direct effect on this variable. Customer Satisfaction has a significant effect on Emotional Experience, and is proven to be a significant mediator in the relationship between Assistance Service and Transaction Security on Emotional Experience.

Abstract

As global attention to sustainability increases, the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles has become increasingly important in the business world. However, the social aspect of ESG is often overlooked compared to environmental and governance aspects. This study aims to identify and analyze the challenges faced by companies in implementing the social aspect of ESG through a literature review of various academic sources. The findings indicate that companies encounter challenges such as limited understanding, resource constraints, organizational cultural barriers, regulatory uncertainty, and stakeholder pressure. This research provides insights into the obstacles and potential strategies that companies can adopt to address them. However, the study is limited by its reliance on literature alone, highlighting the need for future research using primary quantitative or qualitative data to strengthen these findings.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the leading economic sectors in East Kalimantan Province and analyze their influence on the development of the National Capital of the Archipelago (IKN) as an economic superhub. Using secondary data from 2019–2023, the analysis applies Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic LQ (DLQ), Shift-Share, and SWOT methods to evaluate the regional economy. Results show that the mining and quarrying sector remains dominant, while agriculture and processing industries demonstrate stable potential for sustainable growth. The study also highlights the urgency of economic diversification, human capital development, and renewable energy as strategic steps to reduce dependence on extractive sectors. The formation of a collaborative blueprint between regional governments, businesses, and communities with the IKN Authority is proposed to strengthen connectivity and economic integration. This research provides critical insights for policy formulation to support East Kalimantan’s transformation as a central player in national development.
