Abstract

The results of the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey showed that the prevalence of stunting and wasting in toddlers was 21.5% and 8.5%. The stunting rate in Central Java Province was 20.7%, while wasting was 7.1%. Toddlers who experience growth retardation as a result of poor nutritional intake or repeated infections have a high risk of death and illness. This study aims to determine the effect of providing chicken eggs and zinc to improve growth of children with stunting. The study used Quase-Experiment one group pre-posttest design with 30 respondent for 90 days of intervention. The results showed that 86.67% of toddlers were stunted and 13.33% were severely stunted. The analysis test showed a significant difference and there was an effect of providing chicken eggs and zinc on increasing toddler weight (p-value 0.00). Likewise, for height, the p-value was 0.00, indicating that there was an effect of providing chicken eggs and zinc on increasing toddler height. Providing chicken eggs and zinc can be considered as an intervention to improve toddler nutritional status.

Abstract

The increasing use of digital media in early childhood is feared to impact children's ability to manage emotions, interact socially, and understand the behaviour of others. The study used a quantitative correlational design with 45 parents of children aged 5–6 years old as respondents. The study was conducted from June to July 2025 at Permata Pelangi Kindergarten, Kediri. The research instruments consisted of a digital media use questionnaire and a social-emotional development questionnaire adapted from SEAM, with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.87. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that most children used digital media for 1–3 hours per day, and the majority had good social-emotional development. The characteristics of mothers, who were predominantly of productive age and had secondary education, potentially influenced their child's support patterns during digital media use. The analysis showed no significant relationship between screen time and child development (p 0.05). Although descriptively, children with longer screen time tended to have adequate development, this trend was not statistically significant. This indicates that the duration of digital media use is not the primary factor determining a child's social and emotional development. Other factors such as content quality, parenting styles, parental support, and children's social activities at school are thought to play a larger role.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical phase that requires regular maternal health monitoring to prevent complications such as bleeding and infection. However, data from the Tegal District Health Office in 2024 indicate that postpartum mothers’ attendance at posyandu remains relatively low, at only about 58%, which has not yet met the national target of 80%. This condition highlights the need for active involvement of posyandu cadres in improving postpartum visit rates. This study aims to identify the efforts made by posyandu cadres to increase postpartum mothers’ attendance at posyandu in Slawi Wetan Urban Village. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Informants consisted of five posyandu cadres and four postpartum mothers who actively participated in posyandu activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observation, then analyzed thematically. The results show that posyandu cadres undertook various efforts, including providing education on the importance of postpartum check-ups, conducting home visits, and reminding mothers of activity schedules through communication platforms such as WhatsApp. Supporting factors included assistance from health center staff and community enthusiasm, while challenges involved cadres’ limited time and low awareness among some postpartum mothers. In conclusion, posyandu cadres play an essential role in increasing postpartum visit rates through educational, persuasive, and personal approaches, although cross-sectoral support is still needed to achieve the expected target.

Abstract

Breast milk is a nutritionally balanced food for babies. Breast milk is easy to digest, contains easily absorbed nutrients, provides immunity, and helps mothers and children form an emotional bond. The type of delivery influences the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Moms who have had a caesarean segment run the chance of not only breastfeeding their babies since they are awkward. The mother's pain limits the interaction between mother and baby and makes the mother reluctant to breastfeed her child. This study aimed to look into the breastfeeding experiences of primiparous mothers who had previously had a Caesarean section. This study employed a generic exploratory qualitative research design. Twelve primiparous women with a history of caesarean section served as research informants in this study. They were chosen using a technique known as purposive sampling. A semi-structured interview was used to collect data in the Umbulharjo I Health Center working area in Yogyakarta City from March to June 2023. Creswell, J.W. approach to thematic analysis was used to analyze research data. The analysis yielded two themes: breastfeeding obstacles and breastfeeding mothers' expectations. Improving breastfeeding health promotion and self-efficacy for post-caesarean mothers is expected to broaden the scope of breastfeeding for post-caesarean mothers.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting according to WHO in 2021 is 22%. In Indonesia, according to SSGI data in 2022, the stunting rate in 2021 was 24.4%, down 2.8% to 21.6%. Central Java Province in 2022 by 20.8%. This study aims to determine the influence of the class of mothers under five on maternal knowledge and preventive behavior about stunting. This research was conducted at the UPTD Sumurpanggang Health Center in Tegal City in June 2024 with the Case Control research method.  The dependent variables in this study are maternal knowledge and preventive behavior against stunting. The independent variable in this study was the class of mothers under five. The population in this study was mothers of toddlers aged 12-24 months. The sample used in this study was a number of mothers who attended toddler classes three times as the case group and those who did not attend toddler classes as the control group.  The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Univariate data analysis in this study used frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using Chi Square. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between participation in toddler mother classes and knowledge about stunting, feeding behavior, and supportive behavior for the prevention of stunting.
