Abstract

This study examines the causal relationship between energy consumption, carbon emission, trade openness, and economic growth and how the first three variables affects economic growth. Using data ranged from 1966 to 2023 from Indonesia, a vector error correction model and granger causality test is used to help analyze the data. Despite the expectations from exogenous growth theory and environmental Kuznets curve theory, the results reveal limited causality. Results shows that theres a causality from carbon emission towards economic growth and a bidirectional causality from energy consumption and economic growth with a long run effect from energy consumption, carbon emission, and trade openness towards economic growth. These findings suggest that that economic activities are reactive to environmental and energy trends. Policy implications include the need for integrated energy and environmental planning while recognizing the limited short-term impact of trade openness on economic growth dynamics in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors influencing poverty in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province (DIY). Among the five provinces on the island of Java, DIY is recorded as the poorest. This study incorporates health and education as independent variables, unemployment as a mediating variable, and poverty as the dependent variable. This quantitative research employs secondary data from BPS, covering five districts/cities in DIY Province from 2010 to 2020. and applies the multiple linear regression method using panel data analysis. The results reveal that health has a positive and significant effect on unemployment, while education has a negative and significant effect on unemployment. Furthermore, unemployment positively influences poverty. In addition, unemployment mediates the relationship between health and poverty negatively and significantly, as well as mediates the relationship between education and poverty positively and significantly. This study highlights that improvements in health and education must be accompanied by job creation initiatives to optimize their impact on poverty reduction.

Abstract

Water sales are the main source of revenue for PDAM Trenggalek Regency. Although sales revenue continues to increase, the range of water sales services to customers still has not reached an optimal level. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the number of customers, water prices, and rainfall on water sales revenue at the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of Trenggalek Regency. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis with secondary data for 2020-2024 sourced from PDAM Trenggalek Regency and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The results showed that partially the number of customers and the price of water have a positive and significant effect on water sales revenue, while rainfall has no significant effect on water sales revenue, and simultaneously, both the number of customers, the price of water, and rainfall together affect water sales revenue at PDAM Trenggalek Regency. PDAM Trenggalek Regency needs to focus on strategies to expand the number of customers and provide affordable water prices for the community. This research can be used as a reference material in making strategic decisions related to PDAM management and operational planning.

Abstract

An enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem constitutes a critical foundation for enhancing business performance, stimulating innovation, generating employment, and advancing economic development. Nevertheless, the realization of such optimal conditions remains uneven across regions and nations, especially within the context of developing economies. This study examines the nexus between the performance of creative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and several pivotal determinants, namely the entrepreneurial ecosystem (EE), entrepreneurial leadership (EL), and dynamic capabilities (DC). Employing a quantitative research approach, the study surveyed 193 creative industry SME actors in East Java Province, Indonesia. A non-probability purposive sampling technique was utilized, and data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The findings reveal that EE, EL, and DC significantly contribute to enhancing SME performance in the creative industry. Notably, the results exhibit a unique pattern, aligning more closely with findings from developed countries, despite the research being conducted in a developing economy. This suggests that EE can be effectively developed through the active engagement of relevant stakeholders and the prevailing cultural context of a region or nation, even within the constraints of a developing country setting.

Abstract

Gender Development emerges as a critical driver in alleviating such disparities. This study investigates the role of gender development in shaping income distribution in Indonesia between 2016 and 2023. A quantitative framework is employed, utilizing panel data regression analysis with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The Gini Index is the dependent variable, while the Gender Development Index (GDI) serves as the primary independent variable, alongside control variables such as GDP per capita and share of labor in the industrial sector. Key findings demonstrate that GDI significantly reduces income inequality through GRDP per capita, underscoring the role of gender equality in fostering equitable income distribution. The study concludes that policies emphasizing gender equity is more effective in reducing inequality.
