Abstract

The Lom Tribe is the oldest tribe in Bangka Belitung, commonly referred to as the Lom people. During the colonial administration, the Bangka Malays were divided according to their religion, namely the La Tribe for Malays who had embraced religion, and the Lom Tribe for Malays who did not yet receive a religion. This paper aims to reckon the efforts of fulfilling the rights of the Lom Tribe, focusing on two main questions: first, what is the strategy of the Lom Tribe to access public services, especially population administration, education, and marriage? Second, are there still discriminatory practices for the Indigenous People of the Lom Tribe in accessing public services? This study employs a qualitative approach with an ethnographic approach, which aims at revealing the socio-cultural meaning in a particular context. The results show that in accessing public services, indigenous peoples use an institutional approach, build networks with stakeholders at the local level, as well as through the Indonesian Supreme Council of Trustees (MLKI). Discriminatory practices are still found in accessing public services, both in population administration, education, and marriage services for the Lom Tribe. For this reason, the Constitutional Court Decision No. 97/PUU-XIV/2016 and Permendikbud 27/2016.

Abstract

Ahmadiyya has taken refugee in the Transito Dormitory since the end of 2005 and 2010. They tried to return to their homes in West Lombok but drove out by the community. This article will discuss Ahmadiyya, who experienced persecution in Lombok, and the basis for the MUI to issue deviant fatwas against the Ahmadiyya Congregation in 1980 and 2005. The process of the persecution of the Ahmadiyya in Lombok and the influence of the Majelis Ulama Indonesia and Tuan Guru on society are revealed in this study. The theories of Louis Althusser about state ideological institutions, in this case, the Majelis Ulama Indonesia, and Johan Galtung's theory about direct violence perpetrated by the community and indirect violence through the SKB 3 Menteri (Joint Decree of Three Ministers) being operate in this study. The research uses in-depth interviews with Ahmadiyya members in the Mataram Transito Dormitory. This study finds that the MUI Fatwa serves as legitimacy for society in carrying out violence and persecution of the Lombok Ahmadiyya Congregation and the influence of Tuan Guru through their daily life and lectures at the mosque.

Abstract

Today's culture or tradition is filled with cultural values or local wisdom and has economic and political content. It causes the opening of space for cultural capitalization that prioritizes selling or exchanging values and not using values. The study aims to explore the cultural commodification that occurs in the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak NTB community, including the existence of the Bau Nyale tradition, the commodification of Bau Nyale, to the value transformation and shifting in the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak NTB community. This study is qualitative research with primary data sources, namely community leaders such as Adat and the Sasak people in general. The data obtained through interviews, books, and articles are then interpreted using the commodity approach of Karl Marx. The analysis results show that the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak community today is not just a tradition of catching Nyale (sea worms) for the Sasak people. More than that, the Bau Nyale tradition has various dimensions and goals, including economics. In this case, Bau Nyale has become a secondary activity as an activity or tradition that follows the primary activity, namely economic activity. The commodification that occurs in the Bau Nyale tradition in the Sasak community causes a shift in orientation and even raises social problems such as gambling, fights, and even murder cases.

Abstract

The tendency of every adherent of a religion or a sect of belief, it acknowledged or not, is fanaticism. It seems that there is not a single believer who will say that his religion is worse than any other religion. Every adherent of a religion will tend to defend their respective religions. Even if there is a difference, it only lies in the level of moderation; one is more open, while the other is more closed. In the book The Sacred Canopy: Elements of a Sociological Theory of Religion, Berger seeks to understand how religious belief is shaped at the individual and social levels. Furthermore, he wants to say, of course, latently, that religion is like a shell or canopy, which makes its adherents feel safe but at the same time, it is difficult to see other values that exist outside the spectrum of values of the truth of their religion. The nature of the religious belief system creates perspective restrictions and ideological tendencies. Berger's thoughts on the sociology of religion are still relevant today, especially in the context of a pluralistic Indonesian society in the context of caring for diversity. This research method is qualitative, with literacy study techniques that refer to Berger's works, as well as through literacy studies of other relevant writings. The results of this research are expected to enrich theoretical studies for sociology scholars, especially those interested in the sociology of religion.
