Abstract

Scoliosis is a spinal abnormality with lateral deviation that often appears during the growth period of children and adolescents, especially school-age children. This condition can cause postural disorders, back pain, and activity limitations if not addressed early. Physiotherapy counseling plays a crucial role in raising awareness among schoolchildren and teachers regarding the early detection and prevention of scoliosis. The counseling activity was conducted at Anak Saleh Elementary School in Malang with 37 sixth-grade students (16 boys, 21 girls). The implementation method included interactive education, demonstrations of simple posture checks, and back muscle stretching exercises. Evaluation results showed an increase in students' understanding of the signs of scoliosis, the importance of correct sitting posture, and scoliosis prevention exercises. Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a common complaint often caused by non-ergonomic sitting postures. Factors causing LBP include individual factors such as age, gender, and length of service, as well as occupational factors such as static body positions, repetitive movements, and excessive force exertion. This condition can lead to decreased productivity due to lost work time. This study aims to increase the elderly's understanding of the symptoms and causes of LBP and provide education regarding independent home exercises as a preventative measure. Work requires an ergonomic work position, because non-ergonomic work postures can increase the likelihood of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). These musculoskeletal disorders can reduce worker productivity, cause longer production times and increase worker absenteeism. Understanding ergonomic work positions is crucial for workers. Physiotherapy, as a health service that focuses on the development, maintenance, and recovery of body parts due to physical disorders, can help prevent musculoskeletal problems by utilizing ergonomic principles. Before starting the counseling, researchers filled out a questionnaire or pre-test with patients and after the counseling, a post-test was administered. The results of the counseling obtained based on the pre-test and post-test showed a 100% increase in understanding of educational material related to ergonomic work postures and stretching exercises.

Abstract

Toddler growth and development is an important indicator of child health, encompassing physical growth, motoric development, cognitive development, and socio-emotional development. Toddlerhood is considered the golden period, determining a child's future quality of life. Physiotherapy counseling aims to improve parents' understanding of early growth and development stimulation and the detection of developmental delays (Adnan Faris Naufal et al., 2023). This activity was conducted at the Gladiol Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) in RW 12 Griya Santa, Malang, with 21 parents of toddlers (16 mothers and 5 fathers) participating. Methods included interactive education, discussions, and demonstrations of simple stimulation for gross and fine motor skills. The results of the activity showed an increase in parents' understanding of the importance of growth monitoring (weight, height, head circumference), age-appropriate developmental stimulation, and early detection of developmental delays. This community-based counseling has positive implications for increasing parents' awareness and active role in toddler growth and development. Continuous education is needed to support the realization of a healthy and productive generation.

Abstract

Aging is a process of increasing age that involves a decline in the body's ability to repair itself, leading to psychological problems, physical, mental, and socioeconomic decline. Older adults often experience joint problems that interfere with their activities and independence. Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the main causes of knee pain in the elderly, characterized by degeneration of joint cartilage, stiffness, and limited movement. This condition has an impact on the decline in quality of life and independence of the elderly. The prevalence of joint disease in Indonesia is quite high, especially in people over the age of 55. OA is more common in women due to hormonal, anatomical, and physical activity factors. This activity aims to provide physiotherapy education on prevention, non-pharmacological treatment, and simple exercises to support knee function in elderly people with OA. The educational activity was carried out at the Cantewa Health Center, Mojolangu, Malang City, with 15 participants (1 male, 14 females). The methods used included interactive lectures, discussions, and demonstrations of quadriceps strengthening exercises and knee muscle stretching. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of risk factors, symptoms, and simple exercises in the prevention and management of knee OA. This activity has implications for increasing the awareness of the elderly to perform light physical exercises regularly as a strategy to maintain knee joint health. Community-based physiotherapy education is expected to be carried out continuously.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the most common hazards experienced by workers where injuries occur to muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints due to continuous static work activities over a long period of time. There are several factors that cause musculoskeletal disorders, such as age, gender, work attitude, and work duration. The purpose of this activity is to increase the level of worker knowledge of MSDs and identify workers' MSD complaints. This activity method uses primary data through observation and Nordic Body Map measurements and a pre-post questionnaire to determine the level of worker knowledge about MSDs. The results found that the majority of workers experienced complaints in the back area (12 people (46%) and the lower neck area (8 people (30%), as well as an increase in knowledge about MSDs.
