Abstract

The South Sumatra Provincial National Narcotics Board (BNNP) is a government institution responsible for implementing programs related to the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN). In carrying out administrative duties and public services, employees are required to maintain professionalism, discipline, and productivity while dealing with various work demands. This community service activity aimed to provide psychoeducation on work stress management, work motivation, and optimism through a pocket book for employees of BNNP South Sumatra. The activity involved 13 employees and was conducted through the distribution and use of a pocket book containing practical information, motivational messages, stress management strategies, and simple relaxation techniques. The activity was evaluated through observation and participant feedback during the implementation. The results showed positive responses from participants, including greater participation in discussions, increased interest in the materials, and more open sharing of work-related experiences. Participants also reported that the pocket book provided useful reminders for maintaining motivation and a positive perspective when dealing with work demands. The activity indicates that a pocket book can serve as a practical psychoeducational medium to support work motivation, stress management, and optimism among employees.

Abstract

Drug abuse is a major problem that threatens public health, social well-being, and the sustainability of future generations. Its effects extend beyond physical health to psychological conditions, social relationships, and individual quality of life. Therefore, appropriate educational efforts are needed to improve public understanding of the importance of rehabilitation for people affected by drug use. This community service program provided education using flipchart media as a psychoeducational tool to present information in a systematic, communicative, and accessible manner. The implementation showed positive responses from the community, including greater attention, active participation, and increased understanding of drug rehabilitation services during the educational sessions. The use of visual information also helped clarify misconceptions about rehabilitation and encouraged a better understanding of rehabilitation as a medical and social recovery process. These findings indicate that flipchart media can support community education on drug rehabilitation and contribute to the dissemination of information related to rehabilitation services within families and communities.

Abstract

Cognitive difficulties, including thought disorganization and problems with emotional regulation, may occur among people with mental disorders (PMD). This study aimed to evaluate the application of Structured Drawing Therapy in supporting sustained attention and emotional regulation among PMD clients at the Social Rehabilitation Center for Vagrants, Beggars, and People with Mental Disorders (PSR-GPODGJ) in South Sumatra Province, Palembang. The study employed a descriptive qualitative case study involving three clients, namely DR, DC, and Z, who showed attention difficulties, hallucinations, and emotional instability. The intervention was conducted in two main sessions. Session 1 focused on cognitive stimulation and reality orientation through thematic drawing activities, while Session 2 focused on fine motor control and frustration tolerance through line-drawing and shading activities involving geometric and floral patterns without the use of an eraser. The evaluation results indicated improvements in sustained attention, task independence, tolerance of mistakes, and behavioral control during the activities. For some clients, hallucinatory symptoms were not observed while the intervention activities were being conducted. The structured and repetitive drawing activities also provided clear task boundaries that helped the clients maintain attention and complete the activities. These findings suggest that Structured Drawing Therapy has potential as a supportive activity in psychosocial rehabilitation for PMD clients. However, further evaluation using systematic measures is needed to assess changes in attention and emotional regulation more accurately.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the social interaction skills of People with Mental Disorders (PMD) through the implementation of Group Socialization Activity Therapy (TAKS) at UPTD PSR-GPODGJ Palembang. The study employed a qualitative approach using an action study method involving six male participants aged approximately 30 years. The program was conducted in eleven sessions through various group activities, including self-introduction, sharing personal information, recognizing emotional expressions and gestures, question-and-answer games, introducing group members, sentence arrangement, sharing personal preferences, imitating movements and sounds, and expressing opinions about social responses. The results showed positive changes in the participants’ social interaction skills. Before participating in the program, most participants tended to be passive, were reluctant to speak, had limited eye contact, and showed limited interaction with other participants. After participating in the activities, the participants demonstrated greater confidence in introducing themselves and expressing their opinions, maintaining eye contact, communicating with group members, and showing helping and cooperative behaviors. Based on observations during the program, the implementation of TAKS showed positive changes in the participants’ social interaction skills and may serve as a supportive intervention in the social rehabilitation process for people with mental disorders.

Abstract

Social withdrawal is one of the common problems experienced by people with mental disorders and may hinder social rehabilitation and interpersonal functioning. This condition is characterized by low social participation, limited communication, and a tendency to avoid interaction with others. This activity was conducted at the Graha Peduli Social Rehabilitation Center for People with Mental Disorders (PSR–GPODGJ) Palembang with the aim of helping reduce social withdrawal through therapeutic activities. The method involved an individual intervention conducted over 12 sessions through several stages, including assessment, rapport building, orientation, modeling, therapeutic activities, evaluation, and termination. The activities included emotion cards, picture-guessing exercises, object identification, and simple communication training to develop the participant's social interaction skills. The results showed positive changes in communication skills, confidence in answering questions, ability to maintain conversations, eye contact, and participation in social activities. The participant, who initially tended to be passive, gradually showed greater initiative to interact and provided better responses during the activities. These results suggest that therapeutic activities can serve as an approach to support social rehabilitation and the development of interpersonal skills among people with mental disorders.

Abstract

Kartika Jaya Village, Patebon Subdistrict, Kendal Regency, has abundant oyster resources, but their utilization remains suboptimal due to the absence of a structured cultivation system and weak farmer group institutions. This community service activity aimed to examine the process and outcomes of strengthening the cultivation capacity and institutional capacity of the Oyster Farmer Group in Kartika Jaya Village through the Oyster Aquaculture Empowerment program. The program consisted of socialization, technical cultivation training, field mentoring, development of an oyster cultivation module, and institutional strengthening. A qualitative descriptive-analytical approach was used, supported by data from interviews, observations, documentation, and pretest-posttest assessments involving 10 partner members. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of oyster cultivation techniques, with the mean score increasing from 59.00 in the pretest to 79.50 in the posttest. The training was also followed by the direct application of cultivation techniques through the installation of four cultivation cages and continued field mentoring. The activity produced an oyster cultivation module and supported the formalization of the farmer group through member deliberation. These technical and institutional outcomes provide a basis for the continued development of oyster cultivation activities and future improvement of farmers' economic benefits. Further mentoring is recommended, particularly in product marketing, post-harvest development, and access to business capital.
