Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the clinical manifestations, psychosocial factors, and management of a patient with manic-type schizoaffective disorder. The study focuses on auditory hallucinations, aggressive behavior, medication non-adherence, and relapse dynamics. It assumes that biological, psychological, and social factors interact in worsening symptoms and increasing relapse risk. Research Method: This study used a qualitative descriptive case study design involving one patient diagnosed with manic-type schizoaffective disorder. Data were collected through clinical interviews, direct observation, and medical documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively to explore the patient’s biological, psychological, and social conditions related to symptom development, treatment adherence, and relapse. Results and Discussion: The findings showed that the patient experienced dominant auditory hallucinations, aggressive behavior, recurrent medication non-adherence, and psychosocial stressors, including family conflict and bereavement. These factors contributed to symptom exacerbation and relapse risk. The coexistence of psychotic and manic symptoms reflects the complexity of manic-type schizoaffective disorder. Integrated pharmacological treatment, psychotherapy, and family support are essential for symptom control and emotional stabilization. Implications: The findings emphasize the need for holistic management that combines biological, psychological, and social interventions to improve adherence, prevent relapse, and enhance quality of life. Originality: This study provides an in-depth case-based explanation of relapse dynamics in manic-type schizoaffective disorder by integrating clinical and psychosocial perspectives.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the implementation of healthcare quality in private dental practices in North Morowali Regency based on national quality indicators as stipulated in the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 30 of 2022. Research Method: This study employed a qualitative, descriptive phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving 29 informants, consisting of dentists, dental nurses, and patients at Dr. M. Syahrir’s private practice in North Morowali Regency. Results and Discussion: The study results indicate that the quality of health care, as measured by patient satisfaction indicators, is effective. Patients reported satisfaction with the speed of service, clear communication from doctors, and the comfort of the facilities. Compliance with the provision of hand hygiene supplies generally met health care standards, although improvements are still needed regarding the accessibility of these facilities. Meanwhile, while blood pressure checks prior to procedures are being conducted, they are not yet performed consistently for all patients. Healthcare workers’ communication influences the implementation of healthcare quality, the availability of infrastructure and facilities, and adherence to service standards. Implications: The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for evaluating private dental practices in their efforts to improve the quality of health care, particularly in implementing patient safety standards and enhancing the consistency of health care procedures. Originality: This study provides an overview of the implementation of national health care quality indicators in private dental practices in North Morowali Regency, based on Ministry of Health Regulation No. 30 of 2022, using a qualitative approach that directly describes service conditions in the field.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to map the availability of School Health Services (UKS) facilities and the completeness of First Aid kits at partner schools in the Disaster-Resilient Schools program in Malang City, Indonesia. Research Method: This study employed a descriptive cross-sectional design. Data were collected through observations conducted in November 2023 at four schools selected through purposive sampling, using a checklist that included 31 items related to school health unit (UKS) facilities and 21 items related to first aid supplies. The data were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. Results and Discussion: The aggregate proportion of available school health facilities reached 72.58%. Bathrooms/toilets were found in only one school (25%), while stretchers were found in two schools (50%). The aggregate proportion of first-aid kit supplies reached 36.90%. Eye-wash cups and 100 mL vials of distilled water were not found in any of the schools. The results only describe the presence of items, not their functionality, adequacy, accessibility, or disaster preparedness. Implications: Schools need to update their inventory and periodically check the condition and expiration dates of their supplies. Originality: This study presents a contextual mapping of school health units (UKS) and first aid supplies at four partner schools in Malang City, Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose: This systematic review examined how social media-based health-promotion interventions are associated with health-related behavioral outcomes across diverse populations and contexts. Research Method: Following PRISMA 2020, Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect were searched for eligible studies published from January 2020 to May 2026. Forty studies met the inclusion criteria. Risk of bias and methodological quality were evaluated using RoB 2 and appropriate JBI critical appraisal checklists, and findings were synthesized narratively by outcome category. Results and Discussion: The evidence indicated favorable associations with health literacy, vaccination-related outcomes, physical activity, dietary practices, smoking cessation, mental health awareness, and preventive practices. Interactive communication, peer support, online communities, credible influencers, and tailored messages supported engagement. However, heterogeneous designs and measures prevented causal conclusions, while misinformation, privacy risks, digital inequality, and limited long-term evidence constrained interpretation. Implications: Health organizations should combine audience-appropriate content with professional oversight, privacy safeguards, misinformation management, and inclusive access. Longitudinal and experimental studies using validated behavioral measures are needed. Originality: This review distinguishes engagement, knowledge, and intention from self-reported, objectively measured, and sustained behavioral change.

Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the implementation of the Tuberculosis (TBC) Elimination Program in Makassar City using the policy implementation frameworks of Van Meter and Van Horn and George C. Edwards III. Research Method: A qualitative design with domain analysis was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document reviews at the Makassar City Health Office and three community health centers. Results and Discussion: The program has generally been implemented according to established policy standards. However, implementation remains constrained by limited human resources, weak cross-sectoral coordination, community stigma, and patients' economic constraints. Policy standards, communication, bureaucratic structure, implementer commitment, and infrastructure have supported implementation. Strengthening human resources, cross-sectoral collaboration, and community education is necessary to accelerate tuberculosis elimination. Implications: The findings support policymakers in strengthening human resources, collaboration, and community-based TB control strategies. Originality: This study integrates the policy implementation frameworks of Van Meter and Van Horn and George C. Edwards III to analyze the implementation of the Tuberculosis Elimination Program in Makassar City.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to systematically review the literature on healthcare worker burnout and its implications for hospital organizational performance. It examines the role of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices and leadership effectiveness in influencing burnout and proposes three hypotheses: HRM practices significantly influence burnout, leadership effectiveness significantly influences burnout, and burnout significantly affects hospital organizational performance. Research Method: This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on PRISMA guidelines. Peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2026 in English and Indonesian were retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, PubMed, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. The selected studies focused on healthcare worker burnout in hospital settings and were analyzed using a structured review matrix and thematic synthesis guided by the JD-R Model, Social Exchange Theory, Organizational Support Theory, and COR Theory. Results and Discussion: The findings show that effective HRM practices and supportive, transformational, and caring leadership reduce burnout among healthcare workers. Burnout negatively affects hospital performance through lower productivity, reduced service quality, higher turnover intention, and weaker workforce retention. Implications: The study highlights the need for employee-centered HRM, supportive leadership, and well-being policies to improve hospital performance. Originality: This study positions burnout as a strategic organizational issue by integrating HRM, leadership, and performance perspectives in hospital management research.

Abstract

Purpose: Behavioral competencies have been recognized as key to organizational success in achieving their goals. Understanding how to improve them can help identify factors that determine the achievement of strategic plans. However, research on training mechanisms that contribute to the performance of healthcare employees is still limited. Using the Human Capital Theory framework, this study aims to examine the influence of training on behavioral competencies and its effects on employee performance. Research Method: This study employed a quantitative approach, using primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to 85 employees at Dr. Ario Wirawan Lung Hospital. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. Results and Discussion: The results revealed that training positively influenced behavioral competencies but had no significant effect on employee performance. Further findings indicate that behavioral competencies positively impact employee performance in healthcare. Implications: The study's findings encourage hospital management to improve employees' core competencies and behaviors through various training programs. Originality: This study provides empirical evidence about the role of training, behavioral competencies, and employee performance in enhancing healthcare performance.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship between the quality of health care—based on the dimensions of Public Hospital Service Quality (PubHosQual)—and nurses’ therapeutic communication on the satisfaction of inpatients at Labuang Baji Regional General Hospital in Makassar. Research Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 154 inpatients selected using purposive sampling from a population of 252 patients. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test and multiple logistic regression. Results and Discussion: The results of the study show that all dimensions of healthcare quality (patient admission, medical services, overall services, hospital discharge, and hospital social responsibility) as well as all stages of therapeutic communication (pre-interaction, orientation, working stage, and termination) are significantly associated with patient satisfaction (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that the services provided by doctors and nurses (OR = 50.500; p = 0.013) and the termination stage of therapeutic communication (OR = 101.000; p = 0.008) were the most dominant factors associated with patient satisfaction. Implications: These findings serve as a basis for hospitals to improve the quality of medical care and the use of therapeutic communication—particularly during the end-of-care phase—in order to enhance patient satisfaction Originality: This study integrates the five dimensions of PubHosQual and the four stages of therapeutic communication into a single analytical model to explain inpatient satisfaction at government hospitals.
