Abstract

This study evaluates whether investors are benefited by green sukuk by examining the stock return response to corporate green sukuk issuance announcements. Applying standard event study methodology, it is found that stock returns respond positively and significantly to green sukuk issuance announcements, indicating that investors perceive and react positively to the announcements. This significant positive response is observed both for individual firms (through CAR) and for the sample of all firms (through CAAR). Thus, it can be concluded that investors benefit from green sukuk issuance announcements. This study draws a comparative analysis of investor responses to corporate green sukuk and corporate green bond issuance announcements, and the findings also show that investors respond positively to green bond issuance announcements. However, investor responses are slightly higher to corporate green sukuk issuance announcements compared to corporate green bonds, and investors gain slightly more benefits from green sukuk issuance compared to green bond issuance. These findings inform policymakers for the formulation of strategies to attract investors by integrating green bonds with sharia principles to fund environmentally friendly projects and consequently reduce climate change risks.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate an effective model for managing zakat funds in supporting community economic empowerment using a sharia-based approach. Until now, zakat distribution has often been oriented towards consumptive aspects, thus failing to provide long-term impact on the independence of mustahik (zakat recipients). This study uses a qualitative approach with field study methods in several zakat institutions (LAZ) and the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) in North Sumatra. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of economic empowerment programs. The results of the study show that a zakat management model that integrates the principles of justice, sustainability, and empowerment through productive schemes—such as business capital assistance, skills training, and spiritual guidance—is more effective in improving the welfare of mustahik. Sharia values such as amanah (trustworthiness), maslahah (public interest), and ta'awun (mutual cooperation) form the moral foundation in every stage of zakat fund management. This study recommends a reorientation of the zakat management paradigm from a charitable approach to a transformative one. Thus, zakat is not only an instrument of wealth distribution but also a tool for social engineering in building the economic independence of the community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic financing as a catalyst for the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the context of an inclusive economy. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach based on field studies, data was obtained through in-depth interviews with SME actors, managers of Islamic financial institutions (IFIs), and observations of financing practices in the field. The results show that Islamic financing contributes significantly to expanding access to capital for SME actors, especially those in the informal sector who are underserved by conventional financial institutions. Through contracts such as murābaḥah, mudhārabah, and musyārakah, IFIs not only provide business capital but also instill sharia-based business ethics. However, the effectiveness of Islamic financing still faces structural challenges such as limited financial literacy, low mentoring capacity, and lack of policy integration. This study confirms that Islamic financing has great potential as a driver of equitable and sustainable SME growth in an era of inclusive economy.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the effect of Islamic financing on the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from an Islamic economic perspective. SMEs play an important role in the national economic structure, but access to capital is often a major obstacle. Islamic financing is an inclusive alternative that promotes the principles of justice, profit sharing, and business prosperity. This study uses a quantitative and qualitative approach with field surveys and in-depth interviews with SME actors who receive financing from Islamic financial institutions. The results show that Islamic financing not only contributes to an increase in working capital but also fosters ethical awareness, social responsibility, and business sustainability. Financing based on mudharabah and musyarakah contracts encourages mutually beneficial partnerships and reduces the risk of exploitation. From an Islamic economic perspective, business growth is measured not only quantitatively, but also in terms of usefulness and blessings. Therefore, the influence of Islamic financing on SMEs is multidimensional. This study recommends strengthening the managerial capacity of SME actors and developing an adaptive Islamic financing monitoring system. These findings are relevant for policymakers, academics, and Islamic financial institutions in promoting an inclusive and equitable economy

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Islamic financial institutions (IFIs) in improving the economic capabilities of vulnerable women, particularly those in limited socioeconomic conditions. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach based on field studies, this research was conducted on several Islamic microfinance institutions such as Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) and Islamic cooperatives that actively channel financing to women microentrepreneurs. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of the empowerment activities carried out by these institutions. The results show that LKS have a significant contribution in opening access to business capital, building women's confidence, and expanding family economic participation. Financing schemes based on the values of fairness, empathy, and transparency are the main strengths in building relationships that are not only transactional but also transformational. However, challenges remain in the form of limited sustainable assistance, lack of integration with other social programs, and the lack of outcome-based evaluation instruments. This study confirms that LKS not only function as fund providers but also as agents of social change that can strengthen the economic position of vulnerable women in a sustainable manner within the framework of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the paradoxical role of urban infrastructure, which on the one hand drives economic growth, but on the other hand has the potential to reinforce socioeconomic inequality. The research method used is a critical qualitative approach with field studies in three major cities that have different infrastructure development characteristics. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with business actors, informal sector workers, local government officials, and directly affected communities. Participatory observation was conducted in business centers and suburban areas to map the distribution of infrastructure benefits. The results show that infrastructure development improves connectivity and economic productivity, especially for formal business actors and capital owners. However, the distribution of benefits is uneven; low-income communities are often marginalized due to rising land prices, gentrification, and forced relocation. Critical analysis reveals that without inclusive policies, infrastructure has the potential to widen the welfare gap between social groups. This study recommends the integration of redistribution policies, protection of vulnerable citizens, and public participation in urban infrastructure planning to achieve equitable economic growth

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between business planning and the success level of the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDesa) Bhakti Jaya Sedayulawas in Lamongan Regency, which plays a strategic role in village economic development. Although BUMDesa has significant potential, the implementation of planning functions that are not yet optimal often becomes an obstacle to achieving success. The research aims to explore the impact of business planning on BUMDesa's success. Using a descriptive quantitative method with purposive sampling on the Bolen bread business unit, data were collected through documentation and observation. The business planning variable was measured using the cost structure from the business model canvas, while success was assessed through the Break Even Point (BEP) and feasibility analysis. Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a calculated r value of 0.912 (> r table 0.404), indicating a positive and significant correlation between business planning and success. The T-test further confirmed that the calculated t value (25.518) exceeds the t table value (1.71714), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. These findings suggest that effective business planning significantly enhances BUMDesa's success and recommend improvements in planning quality for optimal results.
