Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of chest pain type on mean blood pressure and age using the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) method. Chest pain is a common symptom that can indicate various health conditions, including heart disease. The data used in this study was taken from the "Heart Failure Prediction ” dataset downloaded from Kaggle, which included variables such as chest pain type, blood pressure, and patient age. MANOVA analysis was performed to test whether there were significant differences in blood pressure and age based on the type of chest pain (Typical Angina, Atypical Angina, Non-Anginal Pain, and Asymptomatic). MANOVA test results showed that at least one type of chest pain significantly affected blood pressure and age. Multiple comparison tests were conducted to identify differences between chest pain groups. This study concluded that chest pain type significantly affected blood pressure, but no significant difference was found in age based on chest pain type. These findings may help in the diagnosis and management of patients with chest pain, and provide important information for the prevention of cardiovascular complications.

Abstract

English is an international language that plays a large role in many spheres, not only the national but also the global. The purpose of this study is to assess the impacts of using Wordwall and Baamboozle apps on the improvement of English-speaking skills among junior high school students at SMPN 37 Medan. Both applications offer unique and interesting teaching-learning pedagogy that can perhaps lessen students apprehension towards speaking the foreign language as well as increase their interactiveness during learning. Using a quasi-experimental research design, this study involved a pre-test and post-test to assess students speaking skills before and after the intervention. Quantitative data taken from the speaking skills assessment showed that both apps can improve students speaking skills, with Baamboozle showing a more significant improvement. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to compare pre-test and post-test scores to determine the improvement of speaking ability. The results of this study are expected to provide evidence supporting the effectiveness of gamification apps in language learning, as well as provide recommendations for educators to integrate technology in their teaching strategies.

Abstract

Plotagon is a multifunctional animation application that helps students to create their own stories in various languages through texting or recording our voices. The use of animation for education is very important because animation can help students to solve problems that they encounter in the subject matter by making students imagine the subject matter. This research explores the effectiveness of the Plotagon application in enhancing the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Methodist Tanjung Morawa. In this research, the researcher will collect data by experimenting. The experimental research describes what happened with particular variables where there is certain treatment given to the students, so that this study uses an experimental study as one form of quantitative research to see the effectiveness of using Plotagon application into students’ speaking skill of the 7th grade students of SMP Methodist Tanjung Morawa. A control group received conventional instruction, while the experimental group was taught using Plotagon. The findings indicate that students in the experimental group showed significant improvement in their speaking skills, demonstrating increased motivation, engagement, and confidence.
