Abstract

This Classroom Action Research aimed to enhance the critical thinking skills of Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 3 Malang in the subject of Civic Education (PPKn) through the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) supported by instructional videos. The main issue addressed was the low level of students’ critical thinking, attributed to the suboptimal use of learning media, which led to monotonous lessons and limited student engagement. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of one session, involving 36 students (23 males and 13 females). The findings showed a significant improvement in both cognitive and skill aspects of critical thinking. In Cycle I, 22 students (60%) achieved the minimum mastery level in knowledge, increasing to 33 students (92%) in Cycle II. For skills, the number of students meeting the mastery criteria rose from 17 (47%) in Cycle I to 34 (92%) in Cycle II.These results indicate that the integration of video-assisted PBL is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills in Civic Education.

Abstract

This classroom action research was conducted to address the low mathematical problem-solving skills observed among students at SMPN 16 Malang. The study aimed to enhance these skills by implementing a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with interactive e-worksheets via the Liveworksheet platform. The participants were 32 seventh-grade students (Class VIIF). Data were collected through classroom observations and learning outcome tests, then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in both student and teacher activity across two learning cycles. Student participation in PBL activities increased by 25%, while teacher activity improved by 13%. By the second cycle, 28 out of 32 students (90%) reached the success criteria, surpassing the targeted 80%. Additionally, the proportion of students in the high and very high performance categories increased by 22% and 23%, respectively, culminating in an overall achievement rate of 84%. The effectiveness of the interactive e-LKPD was rated as good in the first cycle (79%) and very good in the second cycle (90%). These findings suggest that integrating interactive e-modules in a PBL framework can effectively support mathematics instruction and contribute to the professional development of teachers through the application of innovative, student-centered learning strategies.

Abstract

This study employed a classroom action research (CAR) design, conducted in two cycles, each comprising four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research was carried out in Grade 7 at SMPN 03 Batu. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate a significant increase in students’ motivation to learn mathematics following the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based student worksheets (LKPD). The percentage of students’ learning motivation exceeded the success indicator, reaching 72%, which falls under the "high" category. This suggests that the integration of PBL into learning materials can effectively foster greater engagement and motivation among students. Therefore, it is recommended that mathematics teachers consider utilizing PBL-based worksheets to make learning more interesting, interactive, and motivating for students.

Abstract

Based on the initial classroom observation in class XI-I, it was found that several students were passive and lacked enthusiasm during mathematics lessons. This was attributed to low curiosity about the subject matter and the use of monotonous teaching models. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed at increasing student activeness and learning interest in mathematics through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The research subjects were 36 students of class XI-I in the 2023/2024 academic year. Data collection techniques included observation of student activeness, learning interest, implementation of learning, and learning interest questionnaires. The results indicated a positive impact of PBL on the learning process, with student activeness increasing by 9.44%, learning interest by 9.03%, questionnaire scores by 6.94%, and the implementation of the learning model by 5.95%. These findings suggest that Problem Based Learning is effective in improving students' activeness and interest in learning mathematics.
