Abstract

This study responds to claims that the Qur'an is influenced by the Bible, particularly due to thematic parallels between the two. The story of Prophet David in both scriptures features four shared themes: his role as a divinely chosen leader (khalifah), his victory over enemies (Jalut/Goliath), his deep connection with God through praise (glorification/psalms), and his trials followed by repentance. Using qualitative library research, data are drawn from the official Indonesian Qur'an translation, the Bible via AlkitabSABDA, tafsir works, academic journals, and other relevant sources. The study finds that although thematic similarities exist, fundamental differences remain—especially the Qur'an’s emphasis on David’s prophethood and infallibility, which the Bible does not portray. Through an intertextual approach based on haplology and modification, this research shows that the Qur'an reshapes the David narrative with a distinctive moral focus. The story is presented in a way that maintains its core message while directing readers to the ethical wisdom it carries, affirming the Qur'an’s function as muhaimin (guardian and criterion) over earlier scriptures.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of hadith as the epistemological foundation of Islamic education through the perspective of Surah Al-Fatihah, which is considered the core of the teachings of the Qur'an and the spiritual foundation for character building. It focuses on the Prophet's hadiths about the greatness of Surah Al-Fatihah as an epistemological and pedagogical basis for formulating comprehensive Islamic educational goals and objectives. The research method is a literature study, examining classical-contemporary interpretations, authentic hadiths, and Islamic education literature. Content analysis finds that Surah Al-Fatihah contains structured values of monotheism, worship, morality, and social values. Combined with the Prophet's prophetic methods such as positive motivation, humanistic approaches, and stimulation of curiosity, this forms an integrative and transformative educational framework. Hadith on the virtues of studying the Qur'an emphasizes that the object of education is not only cognitive, but also attitude and behavior. Conclusion: The integration of Surah Al-Fatihah and related hadith produces a holistic Islamic education paradigm, balanced between spirituality, intellect, and morals, forming students who are strong in faith, noble in character, and adaptive to modern life.

Abstract

This study examines the meaning of the words nar and nur in QS. al-Baqarah verses 17-18 through the semiotic trichotomy relations approach developed by Charles Sanders Peirce. The verse depicts the parable of the condition of the hypocrites through the symbols of light and fire which initially provide illumination, but then go out so that they return to darkness. This study uses a qualitative method with a type of library research and semiotic analysis that highlights the relationship of signs in the form of representamen, objects, and interpretants rooted in icons, indices, and symbols. The results of the study show that the words nar and nur not only have a literal meaning as fire and light, but also function as symbols of guidance and guidance from Allah. In the context of the verse, light is interpreted as guidance that initially illuminated the hypocrites, but was later revoked because they did not use it properly so that they are depicted as losing their light and getting lost in darkness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse Manna Khalil al-Qattan's reference map in the chapter on Qira'at in the book Mabahith fi 'Ulum al-Qur'an, with a focus on mapping the sources of hadith and ulumul Qur'an used. Al-Qattan, a leading scholar in the field of Ulumul Qur'an, integrates hadith sources and classical works of ulumul Qur'an to explore aspects such as qira'at and ahruf sab'ah. This book relies on authentic hadiths from Imam al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim, as well as influential works of ulumul Qur'an, such as Al-Itqan by Jalaluddin as-Suyuti and Al-Burhan by al-Zarkasyi, to strengthen his arguments. The results of the study show that Al-Qattan preferred authentic and sahih sources in constructing his analysis, with a tendency to avoid more modern secondary sources. This approach reflects a conservative methodology based on authenticity and accuracy, making Mabahith fi 'Ulum al-Qur'an an important reference in scientific studies of the Qur'an. This research also shows Al-Qattan's important contribution in revitalising the understanding of qira'at and standardising the recitation of the Qur'an through an approach based on valid sources.
