Abstract

In today’s increasingly competitive business environment, companies are required to optimize the potential of human resources as a strategic asset. The rapid development of technology, dynamic market conditions, and high employee mobility drive organizations to adopt effective strategies in managing knowledge, employee engagement, and talent. Many companies face challenges such as the loss of competencies due to weak knowledge sharing and low employee engagement, which often lead to high turnover. This condition highlights that knowledge management, employee engagement, and talent management are critical factors in enhancing employee performance. This study aims to analyze the influence of knowledge management and employee engagement on employee performance with talent management as a mediating variable at PT Bank Sumut Head Office Medan. The research employed an associative design with a quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 83 respondents selected using purposive sampling from a population of 473 employees working across 18 divisions. The sample criteria included employyees who had worked for at least one year at the Bank Sumut Head Office. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results indicate that knowledge management and employee engagement have a significant effect on employee performance, both directly and indirectly, through talent management as a mediating variable. These findings suggest that the integrated implementation of knowledge management, employee engagement, and talent management can drive improvements in employee performance. Furthermore, this study provides practical implications for company management to strengthen sustainable human resource development strategies.

Abstract

In a company, inventory processing is very important. For this reason, it is necessary to control inventory in order to minimize costs for the benefit of the company. In this study, the authors use the DES method which aims to forecast palm oil demand for  2020 and the Probabilistic EOQ method which can minimize the cost of palm oil inventory at PT. Nusantara IV Medan Plantation. The effectiveness of the Double Exponential Smoothing Method is seen from the minimum MAPE value of 0.29541 which is at an alpha of 0.8. Based on the calculations and data processing carried out, the results of forecasting the demand for palm oil in 2020 were obtained at 483,699,862 Kg with an average demand of 48,369,986 Kg. Based on the Probabilistic EOQ method, the optimal number of orders for palm oil is 8,840,057,829 Kg with an order frequency of 55 times/year with an ROP of 994,798,8395 Kg and the total cost of palm oil inventory is Rp. 79,551,503,603.

Abstract

An assessment of what will occur in the future is called a forecast.  For Indonesians, rice is a staple food, and because of its most crucial role, forecasting is required to satisfy community demands.  For that, we require an indicator that can use Brown's double exponential smoothing method to illustrate the rise and fall in Batu Bara District's rice production in 2021.  The time series approach, which employs historical data to forecast future events, includes Brown's double exponential smoothing method. Using the parameter α, the data demonstrates a trend.  The value that yields the least Mean Square Error (MSE) is the ideal parameter value.  The data processing results indicate that the parameter α = 0,1 has an MSE of 362.579.150,59.  The volume of rice output in 2021 is predicted to be 118.082,84 tons using the forecasting equation F_(t+m) = 117.773,25+309,5m.

Abstract

Competition in the manufacturing sector requires companies of all sizes tomaintain efficient production performance and eliminate waste. LeanManufacturing serves as a strategic approach to minimize waste and enhanceprocess efficiency. UD Surya, a small-scale enterprise producing concrete bricks, faces various challenges related to production capacity and effectiveness, particularly involving wastes such as overproduction, defects, inventory, processing, waiting, transportation, and motion. This study aims to improve theefficiency of brick production through the implementation of LeanManufacturing using the Waste Assessment Model (WAM). The WAM methodis employed to quantitatively identify waste levels, supported by Pareto diagramanalysis to determine priority issues. The results indicate that several categoriesof waste exceed the 15% threshold, requiring immediate corrective actions toprevent further losses and improve production efficiency. These findingsdemonstrate that the application of Lean Manufacturing based on WAM iseffective in identifying critical waste and provides a strong foundation forcontinuous improvement strategies in the brick production process at UD Surya.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in North Sumatera facepersistent financing constraints that limit their contribution to regional economiccompetitiveness. Despite the proliferation of peer-to-peer (P2P) lending andsecurities crowdfunding platforms, pure debt and pure equity models exhibitstructural limitations: P2P lending suffers from high default risk and informationasymmetry, while equity crowdfunding imposes excessive dilution costs andvaluation challenges for early-stage MSMEs. This conceptual paper proposes ahybrid debt-equity funding model that integrates complementary financinginstruments through digital platforms, addressing these limitations by optimizingrisk allocation, reducing information frictions, and matching investor preferencesto firm lifecycle stages. Grounded in Capital Structure Theory, FinancialIntermediation Theory, Information Asymmetry frameworks, and AgencyTheory, the model demonstrates theoretical superiority over single-instrumentapproaches. North Sumatera serves as a critical testing ground due to itssubstantial MSME sector (contributing 57.8% to regional GDP), documentedcapital access barriers (only 15.2% of MSMEs receive bank loans), andsupportive regulatory environment under Indonesia's OJK fintech framework.Through conceptual development and policy analysis, this study presents atheoretically robust framework, comparative performance analysis, andimplementation roadmap. The hybrid model offers a scalable solution to bridgethe MSME financing gap in emerging markets, with implications for financialinclusion policy and platform governance

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of information quality within the SATUUSU academic information system on student satisfaction at the Faculty ofVocational Studies, Universitas Sumatera Utara. The research employs aquantitative approach using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling(PLS-SEM) to analyze the relationship between information quality and studentsatisfaction. A total of 105 respondents were selected from a population of 2,500active students using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Informationquality was measured through five indicators: accuracy, completeness, relevance, clarity, and timeliness. Student satisfaction was assessed usingindicators of ease of use, interface satisfaction, perceived usefulness, systemsuitability, and overall satisfaction. The measurement model results demonstratestrong validity and reliability, indicated by outer loading values exceeding 0.70,Average Variance Extracted (AVE) values above 0.50, and composite reliabilityvalues greater than 0.90. The structural model analysis shows an R-square valueof 0.802, indicating that information quality explains a substantial proportion ofthe variance in student satisfaction. Bootstrapping results confirm a significantpositive effect of information quality on student satisfaction (β = 0.896; t =30.165; p < 0.001). These findings highlight the critical role of high-qualityinformation in improving user satisfaction with academic information systems inhigher education institutions.
