Abstract

Music creation plays a role in the art world that has existed in society for generations against human civilization and is familiar in everyday life. Various forms of expression have an idea from the composer's background and are poured into music, thus creating satisfaction for the creator. Music continues to develop in society, experiencing gradations and reductions in the creative process of its creators. This research uses qualitative research methods because the focus of this creation is how to find the implementation of minimalist music by knowing the elements of music, including its form and structure. Qualitative research intends to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by the research subject, such as behavior, perception, motivation, action, and others holistically. The conceptual framework is a method used to explain the relationship or relationship between the variables to be studied; in this case, minimalism music as a variable will then be associated with the creation of a musical composition, so it is hoped that the conceptual framework can describe the ideas that will be arranged and designed. The process of making this composition is carried out by researching using several stages, starting with analyzing literature studies. Based on the author's results in creating a composition design, the conceptual framework can be used as a basis for research.

Abstract

The relationship between film and music is a deep and intricate phenomenon that significantly shapes the viewer's experience by blending visuals and audio to create a beautifully captivating ambiance. This synthesis is especially crucial in genres such as drama, supernatural, and fantasy when music serves as a channel to the imaginary worlds depicted on television. The 2016 Japanese fantasy animation film *Kimi no Na wa* (Your Name) demonstrates the connection between well-crafted music and a film's narrative and emotional depth. It showcases character design by Masayoshi Tanaka and a remarkable score by the Japanese rock band RADWIMPS. The tale centers around a schoolgirl hailing from rural Japan and a student residing in Tokyo who inexplicably swap bodies, creating the backdrop for a very emotional story. This research underscores the importance of the soundtrack, namely RADWIMPS's utilization of piano, in evoking emotional and imaginative reactions. The study highlights the intricate influence of music in films, impacting psychological, visual, emotional, and imaginative processes. Music enhances the cinematic experience by setting the mood, intensifying feelings, and providing a captivating background, transporting the viewer to different worlds. This study aims to explore the optimal utilization of music in fantasy and supernatural films to enhance storytelling and engage spectators in response to the growing output of such films. This study employs a qualitative research approach to examine the recurring utilization of piano motifs in the music of *Kimi no Na Wa* and its influence on the cinematic experience. The findings illustrate that particular musical components substantially impact how the audience perceives and emotionally responds, offering vital insights for filmmakers and researchers. This study emphasizes the multifaceted function of music in improving storytelling and its significant influence on viewers' emotional and psychological involvement

Abstract

Aesthetics is a very common term. Everyone has their views because their tastes are clearly different. Aesthetics itself is the concept and principle of beauty. Beauty is a relative thing. Therefore, aesthetic views are measured through aesthetic parameters. This analysis uses a qualitative approach with the case study method. This case study is intended to find out the meaning of the song "Golden Hour" by JVKE, and the subject of this analysis is the lyrics and the music itself. The song has quite a unique character and is suitable for analysis or dissecting so that the intent of the work's creator can be conveyed. Aesthetics is the study of principles and laws that define beauty. It involves various meanings influenced by human perceptions and inherent values. This study examines the correlation between aesthetics and music, focusing on how the beauty of music communicates the feelings and sentiments of the artist to the listener. The value of beauty is decided by the perspectives of the appreciators who act as judges of the work, even though beauty itself is subjective. Therefore, aesthetics is considered to be a conceptual idea that needs concreteness. The objective of this research is to examine the song "Golden Hour" by JVKE using a technical approach, emphasizing how the musical beauty of the song influences important components of judgement, such as meaning, interpretation, expressiveness, and aesthetic qualities. Aesthetic metrics are employed to assess the levels of aesthetic quality, recognizing the subjective nature of these evaluations. Assessments can be classified into autonomic and heteronomic perspectives. A comprehensive comprehension of diverse musical components such as rhythm, melody, harmony, tempo, dynamics, and others is needed to fulfill the requirements for an aesthetic assessment of a song. The soul's destiny is intricately connected to aesthetic truths; a piece of artwork, despite its seeming materiality, depends on the act of observation and the experience of pleasure.

Abstract

This study examines the acoustic characteristics of Gamelan music performances in various settings, explicitly emphasizing the disparity between enclosed auditoriums and open spaces. Given the growing frequency of Gamelan performances in varied contexts, the comprehension of how diverse environments impact acoustic qualities is of utmost importance to enhance audience experience and safeguard the authenticity of traditional musical forms. The significance of this study arises from the increasing prevalence of Gamelan music in non-traditional contexts, such as outdoor festivals, prompting inquiries into the variations in acoustic properties across different situations. This research endeavor aims to fill the existing gap in knowledge by undertaking a qualitative examination of acoustic phenomena in enclosed and unobstructed environments. The research presented in this study is notable for its extensive investigation into acoustic phenomena across many settings, considering several aspects, including sound reflection, absorption, and reverberation. Qualitative analytical techniques were applied to evaluate the acoustic characteristics within each respective setting by utilizing a comprehensive examination of pertinent scholarly works pertaining to acoustics and Gamelan music. The findings suggest that closed auditoriums, which have controlled sound distribution and little interference, exhibit unique acoustic characteristics compared to open spaces. In open spaces, sound propagation is affected by ambient elements and the audience's presence. The research underscores the significance of architectural design in influencing acoustic surroundings and the necessity for flexible performance venues that can handle the intricacies of Gamelan music. This study makes a valuable contribution to the existing body of knowledge by providing a more comprehensive understanding of the impact of contextual elements on the acoustic characteristics of Gamelan music. The findings of this research have implications for the improvement of performance venues and the promotion of audience involvement in various contexts.

Abstract

This study examines transforming Barasuara's "Guna Manusia" from a folk-rock song into a brass band arrangement. It analyzes its cultural and sociological ramifications using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of cultural reproduction. The project aims to investigate the impact of song adaptation on audience perception, involvement, and awareness of environmental issues. The research utilizes a comprehensive technique that combines descriptive analysis and literature review. The process of descriptive analysis entails the examination of YouTube videos showcasing both the original and brass band renditions of "Guna Manusia" to comprehend the musical alterations and gauge the audience's reactions. A literature review is placed on findings within appropriate theoretical frameworks and examines prior research on music adaptation and cultural replication. The analysis demonstrates that by converting "Guna Manusia" into a brass band arrangement, its cultural importance is enhanced, and its accessibility is broadened to a broad spectrum of audiences. Descriptive analysis reveals that the brass band adaption successfully communicates the song's environmental message through instrumental expression. Bourdieu's theory demonstrates how cultural reproduction impacts the adaptation process and affects the audience's reception. The study highlights the educational and societal significance of employing music to promote environmental advocacy. It showcases how Barasuara's rendition of "Guna Manusia" actively helps increase awareness and encourage transformative change within society. The research offers unique insights into the profound impact of music and its role in tackling urgent social problems.
