Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the effect of replacing tapioca flour with purple sweet potato flour (Ipomoea batatas L.) on the sensory properties of chicken nuggets. The research design was experimental. Chicken nuggets were made using a mixture of ingredients, namely 200 grams of ground broiler chicken, 100 grams of tapioca flour, 125 grams of ice cubes, two tablespoons of full cream milk, 15 grams of garlic, and 5 grams of salt. Substitution treatments were carried out in five groups: P0 (no replacement), P1 (25% replacement), P2 (50% replacement), P3 (75% replacement), and P4 (full or 100% replacement) with purple sweet potato flour. Sensory tests were conducted by 35 panelists using the hedonic method to assess the color, aroma, texture, and taste of the product. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and 35 replications. The results showed that treatment P1 (25% purple sweet potato flour) obtained the highest score significantly in color (P<0.05), aroma (P<0.01), and texture (P<0.05). Based on these results, it was concluded that substitution of 25% purple sweet potato flour in chicken nugget dough was able to improve the sensory characteristics of the product, especially in the aspects of color, aroma, and texture.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of endomycorrhizal biofertilizer solution from meranti roots on the growth of gandaria (Bouea marcophylla) and rambutan (Nephelium appaceum) seedlings. This study was conducted in Honitetu village, Kairatu District, West Seram Regency to collect endomycorrhizal samples from meranti roots and continued with the implementation of research in Suli village, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency from January 2025 to May 2025. The method used in the study was a completely randomized design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor was the type of fertilizer consisting of A0 (without fertilizer), A1 (endomycorrhizal biofertilizer) and A2 (NPK Fertilizer). While the second factor was the type of plant consisting of B1 (gandaria) and B2 (rambutan). The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (blades), leaf length (cm), leaf width (cm) and percentage of root infection (%). The results showed that the interaction between fertilizer type treatment and plant type had a very significant effect on all growth parameters. However, the interaction of factors A and B only affects the leaf width parameter.

Abstract

This study focused on the effect of endophytic bacteria from trees with wet habitats on the growth and productivity of lowland rice (Oryza sativa). Endophytic bacteria were obtained from root extracts of three plant species, namely kayu burung (bird's wood), forest catangensis (katapang hutan), and kayu marsegu (marsegu wood). Samples of the roots of kayu burung (bird's wood) and kayu burung (bird's wood) were collected from Ambon Island, while the roots of katapang hutan and kayu burung (bird's wood) came from Seram Island. The study used a descriptive method with field observations. Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, and dry grain weight per stem. The results showed that the highest average plant height was obtained in the treatment of endophytic bacteria from kayu burung (14.16 cm), followed by kayu marsegu (12.16 cm) and katapang hutan (10.16 cm). The treatment of endophytic bacteria containing Monococcus, Streptococcus, and Staphylococcus had a positive effect on vegetative growth and rice production. Endophytic bacteria from marsegu wood and forest catangensis produced the highest dry grain weight, namely 1.216 g per stem. These results demonstrate the potential of endophytic bacteria from forest plants as biological agents to increase rice productivity in lowland rice.

Abstract

This research aims to test whether there is an effect of quail egg shape on determining the sex of quail chicks produced when hatched. This research was conducted at a quail farm located in Toisapu hamlet, Hutumuri Village, Ambon City on March 29 - April 19, 2025. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 2 treatments and 8 replications. A total of 192 hatching eggs were classified based on the egg shape index (oval category with a value of 69-77, round category with a value >77). The treatment groups formed were P1 (oval) and P2 (round). The variables observed included hatchability, mortality, and sex of quail chicks. Data were analyzed using ANOVA for hatchability, and mortality variables and Chi Square test for sex. The results showed that egg shape had no significant effect on hatchability, mortality, and sex produced. This study concluded that egg shape cannot be used as an indicator to predict the sex of quail chicks that will hatch.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning patterns of livestock breeders in beef cattle farming businesses and to determine the facilitating and inhibiting factors that influence the planning patterns of livestock breeders in beef cattle farming businesses in Kairatu District, West Seram Regency. Primary data collection techniques used interview techniques and observations of respondents guided by questionnaires while secondary data were obtained from agency reports related to research results and other references related to this study. Then, the sampling technique used a purposive sampling method. Data analysis used in this study was quantitative descriptive analysis and T-test. The results of this study indicate that respondents' answers regarding livestock breeder planning patterns in Kairatu District were more dominant in answering no in the management of seed selection, fattening systems, provision of more cages and disease prevention and control while respondents who answered yes were more in the variable of feeding. Based on the results of the partial test (T), it shows that the variables that have a significant influence on livestock farmer planning patterns are the infrastructure and resource variables (X1) and limited capital (X2.1), while the variables that do not have a significant influence on livestock farmer planning patterns are the variables of limited seed sources (X2.2) and limited access to information/technology (X2.3).
