Abstract

Lowland rice is a major food commodity in Indonesia that plays a crucial role in national food security. The implementation of the jajar legowo planting system is one of the cultivation innovations aimed at increasing productivity and farming efficiency. However, differences in jajar legowo planting patterns may result in variations in production costs and farmers’ income. This study aimed to analyze net income and cost efficiency of lowland rice farming under 2:1 and 4:1 jajar legowo planting systems. The research was conducted in Sindangkerta Village, Indramayu Regency, using a survey method involving rice farmers who applied the 2:1 and 4:1 jajar legowo systems. Primary and secondary data were analyzed quantitatively by calculating production costs, revenues, net income, and cost efficiency using the revenue–cost (R/C) ratio. The results showed that the 2:1 jajar legowo planting system generated higher net income than the 4:1 system. In addition, the R/C ratio values of both planting systems were greater than one, indicating that lowland rice farming under both systems is economically feasible. Therefore, the 2:1 jajar legowo planting system is more cost-efficient and provides higher economic benefits for farmers compared to the 4:1 system..

Abstract

Soybean productivity in Indonesia remains fluctuative and has not yet met national demand, partly due to limited land availability and competition with other crops. Intercropping systems combined with the application of Azolla-based liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) are considered a potential strategy to improve land use efficiency and crop yield. This study aimed to analyze the productivity and Land Equivalent Ratio (LER) of soybean–maize intercropping as affected by Azolla liquid organic fertilizer application on different soybean cultivars. The experiment was conducted in Sanca Village, Gantar District, Indramayu Regency, from July to October 2022 using a non-factorial Randomized Block Design with 30 treatment combinations consisting of six soybean cultivars (Anjasmoro, Dega 1, Deja 2, Dering 1, Gepak Kuning, and Grobogan) and five concentrations of Azolla liquid organic fertilizer (0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 mL L⁻¹), with two replications. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by the Scott–Knott grouping test at the 5% significance level. The results showed that the combination of soybean cultivars and Azolla liquid organic fertilizer significantly affected soybean growth and yield, maize yield, and LER values in the intercropping system. The highest soybean productivity in intercropping was obtained from the Anjasmoro cultivar combined with 400 mL L⁻¹ of Azolla liquid organic fertilizer, while the highest LER value was recorded in the intercropping of maize with the Dering 1 cultivar. All intercropping treatments resulted in LER values greater than 1, indicating that soybean–maize intercropping was more efficient than monoculture systems. Therefore, appropriate selection of soybean cultivars combined with Azolla liquid organic fertilizer application can enhance productivity and land use efficiency in soybean–maize intercropping systems. Abstract

The production of Gedong Gincu mango is highly dependent on seasonal harvest patterns, leading to fluctuations in production and farmers’ income. Off-season technology has been developed as an innovative cultivation approach to regulate flowering and fruiting periods, enabling mango production outside the natural harvest season. This study aims to analyze the effect of off-season technology on the production and income of Gedong Gincu mango farmers. The research was conducted in Mekarjaya Village, Kertajati Subdistrict, Majalengka Regency, one of the main production centers for Gedong Gincu mango. A quantitative research approach was employed using descriptive analysis, simple linear regression, and path analysis. Data were collected through a survey of 30 mango farmers who had implemented off-season technology. The results indicate that off-season technology has a significant effect on mango production but does not have a direct effect on farmers’ income. Production has a significant effect on farming income, indicating that production plays a key role in determining the success of off-season technology in increasing farmers’ income. These findings suggest that income improvement through off-season technology depends largely on the effectiveness and efficiency of production enhancement. Therefore, optimizing the application of off-season technology should focus on strengthening production to sustainably increase the income of Gedong Gincu mango farmers.

Abstract

Tobacco is a commodity with considerable development potential, as evidenced by the significant foreign exchange and excise revenues generated from tobacco. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of tobacco farming in Cisalak Village, Lemahsugih District, Majalengka Regency, as well as to determine the cost structure, revenue, profit, and feasibility of the farming business. The research method used a survey technique with a quantitative descriptive approach. Thirty respondents were recruited using a purposive sampling technique. The analysis technique used was descriptive analysis, calculating fixed costs, variable costs, revenue, R/C Ratio and B/C Ratio. The results of this study indicate that running a tobacco farm requires a total fixed cost of IDR 2,100,000, a variable cost of IDR 10,000,000 and depreciation cost of IDR 1,671,000. Profit is IDR 30,000,000, and farm income is IDR 16,229,000. The feasibility analysis of this tobacco farm yields R/C Ratio and B/C Ratio of 2,18 and 1,18, indicating that this farm is feasible to continue. Keywords: Tobacco Farming, Income, Financial Feasibility.

Abstract

Weed infestation in maize fields can reduce crop growth and yield due to competition for light, water, and nutrients. The use of herbicide mixtures is considered an effective strategy to improve weed control efficacy while minimizing the risk of weed resistance. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and crop safety of a herbicide mixture containing atrazine 200 g/l, topramezone 10 g/l, and nicosulfuron 15 g/l on weed control, growth, and yield of maize (Zea mays L.). The research was conducted in Majalengka Kulon Village, Majalengka Regency, West Java, using a non-factorial randomized block design with six treatments and four replications. Treatments consisted of herbicide doses of 1.50, 2.00, 2.50, and 3.00 l/ha, manual weeding, and an untreated control. Observed variables included weed composition and dry weight, phytotoxicity levels, growth parameters, and yield components of maize. The results indicated that the herbicide mixture effectively suppressed dominant weed populations without causing phytotoxic effects on maize plants. The application rate of 2.50 l/ha resulted in the most favorable balance between weed control efficacy and crop safety, suggesting its potential to optimize maize productivity.
