Abstract

Despite frequently facing inadequate facilities and limited financial rewards, many rural elementary school teachers continue to demonstrate extraordinary dedication to their duties. This phenomenon raises a critical question regarding the sources of motivation and job satisfaction that transcend material boundaries. This study aims to explore the subjective meanings and experiences of elementary school teachers in maintaining motivation and job satisfaction within rural settings, identifying adaptive strategies used amidst resource limitations. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was employed. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document reviews involving eight teachers with diverse professional backgrounds. Thematic analysis was conducted following Braun and Clarke's framework to derive core themes. The results indicate that teachers maintain high levels of motivation and job satisfaction despite inadequate infrastructure and resources. Intrinsic factors, particularly the sense of purpose in the profession and moral commitment to students, emerged as the most dominant drivers. Furthermore, supportive leadership from the principal and harmonious social relationships among colleagues significantly fostered a positive work environment and institutional belonging. In contrast, extrinsic factors such as financial compensation and physical facilities did not substantially diminish the teachers' work commitment. This study suggests that enhancing collaborative work cultures, providing professional autonomy, and ensuring continuous career development are vital strategies for sustaining teacher engagement in rural primary education.

Abstract

In an increasingly competitive educational landscape, sports is no longer merely a supplementary physical activity but a strategic instrument capable of transforming a school's identity and appeal. The penetration of interest-based innovations, such as specialized sports classes, has become a primary catalyst in building the unique reputation of religious-based educational institutions. This study aims to examine sports class management strategies in a madrasah and their impact on institutional branding. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with the madrasah principal, program coordinator, sports teachers, and students. The results identified four main themes: (1) sports class management as educational innovation, (2) the role of sports in character building, (3) implementation challenges, and (4) community contributions in strengthening branding. The findings indicate that sports integration effectively facilitates comprehensive character development while reinforcing the madrasah’s position as a progressive institution. Synergistic stakeholder support is a crucial factor in ensuring program sustainability and reputation enhancement. This research theoretically expands the educational management paradigm by integrating the sociology of sports into school marketing strategies. Practically, it formulates a specialized class management model that other madrasahs can adopt to optimize local resources, creating a strong differentiation value within the currently saturated educational market.

Abstract

Amid Indonesia's ambition to escape the middle-income trap, the anomaly between productivity growth and wage welfare at the regional level has become a critical structural barrier requiring profound attention. This disparity is not merely a statistical issue but a socio-economic reality that determines the future stability and resilience of the national economy. This study aims to analyze the persistence of labor market disparities in Indonesia, focusing on the dynamics of regional productivity and wages during the 2018–2023 period. Adopting a quantitative descriptive-comparative approach using secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics across 34 provinces, this research examines the elasticity of wages relative to productivity in leading sectors. The results indicate persistent inequalities between Java and non-Java regions, where regional wage growth often lags behind productivity surges, particularly during the post-pandemic economic recovery phase. This phenomenon suggests that the wage-productivity transmission mechanism is still hindered by wage policies that are not yet fully adaptive to local performance realities and agglomeration advantages. Theoretically, this research contributes to the labor economics literature by modeling the wage-productivity interaction within the economic transformation of a developing nation. Practically, this study formulates strategic recommendations for policymakers to design performance-based regional wage systems to narrow inter-regional economic gaps and create a more inclusive labor market across Indonesia.

Abstract

Recurring global financial crises and widening distributive inequalities expose the systemic failures of the conventional market efficiency paradigm in ensuring economic stability and justice. This article aims to reconceptualize financial markets through a moral-economic equilibrium approach as an alternative to the mainstream model. Employing a qualitative method via a critical literature review of conventional and Islamic economics, the study deconstructs the underlying assumptions of both systems to produce a new theoretical reconstruction. Research findings indicate that Islamic financial markets function as equilibrium systems that simultaneously integrate economic efficiency, moral values, and social objectives. The core foundation lies in the prohibition of Riba, Gharar, and Maysir, integrated with risk-sharing mechanisms and organic linkages to the real sector. This moral-economic equilibrium demonstrates that market efficiency and distributive justice can harmoniously synergize within the Maqashid al-shariah framework. In conclusion, the article asserts that Islamic financial markets represent a value-based financial paradigm oriented toward socio-economic welfare and sustainable development. The primary theoretical contribution is the provision of a new analytical framework that synthesizes moral and economic dimensions into a single, cohesive equilibrium construct to address the limitations of the efficiency paradigm in responding to contemporary global economic stability challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze a global-ethics-based model of religious tolerance developed by Peace Generation in West Java by explaining how global ethics is understood as a shared minimum value framework, how this framework is translated into tolerance-building programs, and how it strengthens youth tolerance in a plural society. Employing a qualitative case-study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis (training modules, facilitation guidelines, program agendas, and activity reports), and were analyzed thematically through coding, categorization, and theme development to map program mechanisms and behavioral indicators of tolerance. The findings indicate that Peace Generation frames global ethics not as religious equalization, but as a form of public ethics emphasizing shared minimum values (e.g., respect for human dignity, empathy, justice, and non-violence), operationalized through a structured sequence of activities: core values training, dialogue ground rules (safe space), facilitated interfaith dialogue, reflective communication exercises, and interfaith humanitarian collaboration. As a result, youth tolerance is strengthened as an observable social competence, reflected in more respectful communication, reduced prejudice, more peaceful conflict management, and increased cross-identity cooperation. This study contributes to tolerance scholarship by offering practical guidance for educational institutions and youth communities to design more applicable and sustainable tolerance programs, while also informing local policy discussions on strengthening tolerance. The originality of this study lies in its operational, empirical mapping of the mechanism chain “global ethics → program design → changes in youth tolerance competencies” within a youth interfaith institution, thereby complementing prior studies that tend to remain normative or stop at index/survey mapping without detailing program steps and behavioral indicators.
