Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) demands teacher adaptation, yet existing training remains partial and lacks interdisciplinary integration. This community service activity aimed to enhance AI understanding, technical skills, and implementation readiness among junior high school teachers. Using an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach operationalized through the 5D framework (Discovery, Dream, Design, Define, Destiny), a three-week serial workshop was conducted with 39 teachers from six subject areas at Muhammadiyah junior high schools in Klaten, Indonesia. Evaluation employed observations, questionnaires, and interviews. Results showed significant improvement in conceptual understanding across all topics, with 75-96% of participants achieving independent competency on specific AI applications. Participant satisfaction was high (mean 4.41/5). However, challenges included unstable internet and limited devices. This interdisciplinary serial workshop model proved effective as a professional development approach, with potential for replication through teacher working groups. Recommendations include improved infrastructure, extended practice time, and ongoing mentoring support.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the most populous countries in the world. Gen Z dominates 27.49% of the total population, with 74,93 million compared to the general population of 270 million. This data shows that development activities in Indonesia will be indirectly influenced by the contribution of Gen Z. One indicator of national development is the level of financial literacy. The financial literacy level of Gen Z is considered unsatisfactory. Most Gen Z are students. As agents of change, students are expected to bring about greater change. However, several studies show that students still have a low level of financial literacy. Based on the explanation above, this community service activity is urgently needed to provide information and education to Gen Z students in the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This activity aims to help participants gain a deeper understanding of investment theory, enabling them to enhance their financial literacy. The community service was conducted through lectures, discussions, and simulation exercises. The results show that there was an increase in understanding and interest in investing.

Abstract

The issue of waste in the school environment, particularly the lack of a waste sorting culture, poses a challenge in fostering environmental literacy from an early age. This community service activity aims to describe the implementation of waste management education for students of SD Muhammadiyah Sambon, Banyudono, Boyolali using interactive learning media. The method of implementing the activity uses a participatory approach with the delivery of material divided into four sessions: introduction to waste, interactive games (Maze and waste guessing), the 3R concept and Waste Bank, and the formation of Environmental Hero character. Interactive media were used to tailor the material to the psychological characteristics of elementary school students. The results of the activity showed that dividing the sessions into short segments (15-25 minutes) and using interactive game media were able to attract active participation from the students throughout the activity. Students showed good engagement during questions and answers sessions and educational games. This education has provided a basic understanding of waste sorting as the first step in forming an environmentally caring character. The success of further implementation requires follow-up in the form of providing sorted trash bins and daily habituation guidance at school.

Abstract

High school geography education should help students understand social changes like population growth, urban sprawl, and unequal access to public facilities. Yet most classrooms still rely on lectures, so students memorize terms without learning spatial connections. Geospatial tools like GIS and digital maps offer a way to change that by letting students visualize data from their own neighborhoods. Our community service program addressed this gap through a hands-on workshop designed to improve social geography literacy among senior high school students. The primary goal was to see whether direct practice with simple mapping applications could sharpen spatial thinking and help relate social issues to geographic patterns. We carried out the workshop over two days with 35 students from a public high school. The methods combined interactive sessions with hands on practice using Google Maps and QGIS. Each group analyzed land use changes and mapped local facilities like health clinics and parks. We measured outcomes through pre-test and post-test scores on conceptual knowledge and map reading skills. The results showed clear improvement. The average test score rose from 62.4 to 84.7, and all students completed their mapping tasks successfully. During discussions, they noticed patterns they had overlooked before, such as how poorer areas had fewer public services. No major issues occurred, aside from minor software glitches quickly resolved. This workshop demonstrated that integrating geospatial practice into geography lessons is both feasible and impactful. More importantly, it showed that when students become active explorers of their own environment, their engagement deepens in ways traditional teaching rarely achieves.

Abstract

Cadre development is essential to sustaining organizational continuity. For Pimpinan Cabang Nasyiatul Aisyiyah (PCNA) Baki, strengthening cadres’ capacities is important for supporting organizational, religious, and community-based activities. One relevant competency is the ability to serve as a Master of Ceremony (MC) in Javanese. However, initial observations indicated that this competency was not yet evenly developed among cadres, particularly in the use of appropriate Javanese speech levels (unggah-ungguh basa), script preparation, and confidence in public speaking. This community service program aimed to develop and implement a blended learning approach for Javanese MC training among PCNA Baki cadres. The program involved 21 participants and was conducted in five stages: needs identification, socialization, blended learning implementation (combining a digital classroom through Google Classroom with an in-person workshop held on September 19, 2026), monitoring and evaluation, and sustainability. Changes in participants’ perceived competencies were assessed by comparing mean pre-test and post-test scores across eight indicators using a five-point scale. Mean scores increased across all indicators, with the greatest improvements observed in welcoming statements, transition statements, and opening script preparation. Confidence showed the smallest increase, from 3.19 to 3.86. The program also resulted in the development of the Kelas Digital Nasyiah Sinau Pambiwara as a reusable learning resource. These findings suggest that the blended learning activities contributed to strengthening cadres’ readiness to serve as Javanese MC and provided a practical competency that supports cadre development at PCNA Baki.
