Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the Strategies of the Cahaya Inspiration Reading House in cultivating reading among coastal children. describes what obstacles are faced in cultivating reading in coastal children's grief and describes the solutions taken to overcome the obstacles encountered in increasing a reading culture. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research location is the Light of Inspiration reading house (RUBACI) which is in the village of Bandar Sono, Nibung Hankus sub-district, Batubara district. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is data reduction, data display and data retrieval. Data validity tester. The results of this study concluded that the light inspiring reading house is making maximum efforts to improve the reading culture among children even though there are still many obstacles to be faced, but the management of the light inspiration reading house has made several solutions to overcome the obstacles it faces. Suggestions for the manager of the light-inspired reading house include managers who are expected to be more active in managing the reading house and need to improve and add several facilities such as bookshelves.

Abstract

The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach that uses interviews to describe the data obtained by researchers directly, to obtain a clear and detailed picture of how the use of electronic books (e-books) by users at the library and archives office of Labuhan Batu district. The data collection techniques used in this study were interviews and observations. Furthermore, the researchers conducted interviews with 5 informants, namely the users at the Library and Archives Service of Labuhan Batu Regency. The results of this study indicate that the use of electronic books (e-books) by users is that they use electronic books to get references and their information needs such as doing paper assignments given by lecturers. Obstacles experienced by users, especially in unstable networks, lack of collections of books in the e-book, and according to them the obstacles are the lack of experts in the field of e-books so that e-books are not optimal and lack of socialization to users so that some users do not understand in browsing the e-book.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the professional ethics of librarians in the library of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sumatera Utara in terms of an Islamic point of view and explain the form of professional ethics based on Islamic values applied by librarians at the Library of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. The method of this research is used a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. This research was used data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. The ethics of the librarian profession from an Islamic point of view are being fair to library visitors, cooperating and helping each other among colleague librarians, and being responsible for the mandate of the tasks carried out. Describe the implementation of librarian professional ethics in the library of the UIN Sumatera Utara in terms of an Islamic point of view. The forms of professional ethics applied by UIN Sumatera Utara’s librarians are ethics about recognizing users and paying attention, ethics being flexible and polite, and ethics about being communicative and being honest.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how students use information services in the library of SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar, the information literacy skills of SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar, and the effect of using the library on students' literacy in SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar. This research uses a questionnaire research method or questionnaire as a means of collecting data obtained by respondents. The population of this study were all students of SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar starting from class X-XII, namely 407 students with a total sample of 80 students which was determined by the slovin formula. The sampling technique used to determine the sample is probability sampling The conclusion of this study is that students of SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar have sufficiently utilized the library by having the desire to visit, then some teachers use the library when carrying out learning activities, and utilize the facilities in the library by borrowing books, information literacy skills of high school students Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar can be classified as good by looking at its average value of 27.60, and based on the results of f count 23.021 with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05, the regression model can be used to predict variable X or in other words there is a significant effect Utilization of Libraries (X) on Information Literacy (Y).

Abstract

This research was conducted at the Batu Bara Regency Library Service. The aim of this research is to find out about the library service strategy during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Batu Bara Regency Library Service, to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in carrying out library service strategies during the pandemic at the Department. Batu Bara Regency Library. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method using a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used in this research were interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this research show that library service strategies during the pandemic were carried out by librarians, namely by running mobile libraries, collaborating with other parties, temporary loan services, while the obstacles that occurred were by limited digital book collections, limited printed collections, limited infrastructure: IT equipment and networks, limited operational vehicles and their supporting equipment, and limited human resources who are competent in the fields of library and information and IT.
