Abstract

This article aims to examine the digital collection retrieval system—particularly video collections—in academic libraries and its relationship to the teaching–learning process. This study employs a descriptive research method. Data were collected through observation and a review of the relevant literature. The descriptive analysis is presented in narrative form. The findings indicate that developing an effective retrieval system requires identifying user needs, designing an appropriate database system, and conducting continuous evaluation. In the learning process, a well-designed video collection retrieval system significantly supports users in meeting their information needs.

Abstract

This research aims to design a Kids Art Space as a medium for stimulating creativity in early childhood education institutions (PAUD) in Gorontalo City. The research background is based on the limited availability of creative space facilities, which results in children's art activities tending to be instructional and rigid. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with a Design Thinking approach, encompassing the stages of empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with educators, and a study of child ergonomics. The results of the study yielded a space design model that integrates flexible wet and dry activity zoning and the use of child-friendly modular furniture. The strength of this design lies in the incorporation of local Karawo motifs as ethno-pedagogical visual stimuli. The study's conclusions indicate that thematically designed Kids Art Space significantly enhances children's independence and courage to explore. This space acts as a "third teacher" facilitating fine motor and cognitive development. The implementation of this design is expected to become a standard reference for innovative PAUD facilities in Gorontalo City in supporting the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (PAUD) is a crucial stage in human resource development, as it is during this period that the foundation for a child's cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development is formed. However, the implementation of PAUD in Indonesia still faces serious challenges, both in terms of access and quality of services. This study aims to examine various obstacles that hinder the equitable distribution and improvement of the quality of PAUD in Indonesia. The approach used is a qualitative descriptive with a literature study method, involving secondary data sources from scientific journals, policy documents, and reports from relevant national and international institutions. The results of the analysis indicate that geographical disparities between urban and rural areas, especially in the 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier, Outermost) regions, are the main obstacles in accessing PAUD services. In addition, limited family economic resources and high operational costs also impact the low participation of children in PAUD institutions. From the quality aspect, low teacher qualifications and competencies, inadequate welfare of educators, and suboptimal curriculum implementation are key issues that require serious attention. The governance of early childhood education institutions and quality assurance systems are also still not effectively integrated. This study recommends the need for a collaborative strategy between the central and regional governments, communities, and the private sector to expand access and improve the quality of early childhood education services in Indonesia. These efforts need to be supported by supportive policies, adequate funding, ongoing teacher training, and a participatory quality evaluation system.

Abstract

Laws and regulations play a strategic role in shaping the direction, structure, and effectiveness of education management. Education is understood not only as a pedagogical process but also as an institutional practice within the framework of state administration and public policy. This article aims to analyze the role of laws and regulations in education management and identify challenges that arise in their implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research design, with data sources consisting of educational legislation, policy documents, academic books, and relevant journal articles. Data are analyzed using a juridical-normative approach and thematic analysis to interpret the function of regulations, implementation patterns, and their implications for education governance. The results of the study indicate that laws and regulations function as instruments of legitimacy, control, and direction in education management, particularly in ensuring accountability, quality standards, and legal certainty. However, this study also identified challenges in the form of gaps between norms and practices, regulatory rigidity, and policy inconsistencies between levels of government that have the potential to hinder innovation and managerial effectiveness. Therefore, a more adaptive, coherent, and evidence-based regulatory approach is needed so that the law does not only function as an administrative control tool, but also as a facilitator for improving the quality and sustainability of education management.
