Abstract

The occurrence of fraud is a challenge that every business entity will inevitably face. Historical phenomena of fraud scandals, such as those involving Enron and Worldcom, have demonstrated that robust internal control systems alone are insufficient in preventing fraud, particularly fraudulent financial statements. This study aims to explain how Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) plays a role in anticipating the adverse effects of fraudulent financial reporting. The research is based on a library study, with data gathered from literature sources such as books, encyclopedias, scientific journals, newspapers, magazines, and documents. The results of this study indicate that while ERM can effectively prevent and detect fraud, it is not entirely sufficient to prevent fraudulent financial statements. More effective prevention and detection require the presence and proper functioning of the eight components of ERM, which include the internal environment, objective setting, event identification, risk assessment, risk response, control activities, information & communication, and monitoring, within the organization

Abstract

Financial transparency is a crucial element of good governance and organizational accountability. One philosophy that can be applied to enhance financial transparency is the Khalifatullah Fill Ardh concept. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Khalifatullah Fill Ardh philosophy in improving financial transparency in mosques. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, focusing on the Al-Ikhwan Mosque as its research object. The findings reveal that the takmir (management board) of the Al-Ikhwan Mosque has not effectively implemented the principles of the Khalifatullah Fill Ardh philosophy, which include the traits of apostleship (siddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathanah). Moreover, financial management and accountability are centralized under the chairman of the takmir, resulting in insufficient financial transparency and accountability within the mosque. Future research is encouraged to explore the application of other principles of the Khalifatullah Fill Ardh concept to enhance financial transparency, using the same or different research objects

Abstract

This article examines the usury (riba) concept from an Islamic perspective and its implications for economic systems and social life. Riba, which means "excess" or "addition," is prohibited in Islamic teachings as it is considered a form of injustice and exploitation. Through an analysis of Quranic verses and Hadith, the article explains the theological and moral foundations behind the prohibition of riba. It also explores various types of riba, including riba nasiah (interest on loans) and riba fadl (unequal exchange of similar goods), as well as their impact on individuals and society. In the modern context, the article highlights the challenges Muslims face in avoiding riba amidst a global financial system dominated by interest. Proposed solutions include strengthening Islamic financial systems and educating communities on the importance of fair and riba-free transactions. This study aims to raise awareness about the dangers of riba and promote the implementation of Islamic economic principles in daily life
