Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain that occurs without any abnormalities in the genital organs and almost always appears for the first time in women aged 20 years or younger after their ovulation cycle has stabilized. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea worldwide is substantial, with more than 50% of women in each country experiencing menstrual pain. This study is an analytical study using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected through a survey method using questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. Among 187 adolescent respondents, 137 (73.3%) experienced dysmenorrhea. Of these, 110 (58.8%) had experienced early menarche, 115 (61.5%) experienced stress, while 72 (38.5%) did not. Additionally, 141 respondents (75.4%) reported regular fast-food consumption behavior. The Chi-Square statistical test showed that the majority of dysmenorrhea cases occurred among respondents with early menarche (p-value = 0.003; OR = 2.87), those who experienced stress (p-value = 0.014; OR = 2.40), and those with fast-food consumption behavior (p-value = 0.04; OR = 2.19). There is a significant relationship between early menarche, stress, and fast-food consumption behavior and the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female adolescents at SMPN 01 Sukabumi. Recommendation: Strategic steps should be taken to educate adolescents on healthy lifestyles, including meeting nutritional needs through a balanced diet as per the "Isi Piringku" guidelines, providing counseling to reduce potential stress, and raising awareness about the risks associated with fast-food consumption.

Abstract

Covid-19 Vaccination as a government policy program worldwide aims to reduce Covid-19 transmission, lower morbidity and mortality rates due to Covid-19, achieve herd immunity in society, and protect the public from Covid-19 so that they remain socially and economically productive. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors related to Covid-19 vaccine acceptance among the community in Jangka Subdistrict. This study was conducted using a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consisted of 364 individuals from Jangka Subdistrict. A sample of 85 respondents was selected using random sampling, specifically the simple random sampling technique, with the Slovin formula used to determine the sample size. Data collection was carried out over 10 days. Data analysis employed both univariate and bivariate methods using the chi-square test. The results of the study, based on univariate analysis, show that out of the 85 respondents, 36 respondents (42.4%) had received the full Covid-19 vaccine, while 49 respondents (57.6%) had not received the full Covid-19 vaccine. Variables related to Covid-19 vaccine acceptance include knowledge, attitude, occupation, and stigma (P=0.000). However, variables that were not related include gender (P=0.967), information sources (P=0.154), and comorbidities (P=0.996).

Abstract

This study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample size consisted of 30 respondents. The population included all laboring mothers in the first stage of labor with cervical dilation of 6–8 cm, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using counterpressure with a birth ball questionnaires and the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) for pain measurement. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test and paired t-test. The Wilcoxon test results showed a Z-value of -4.902 with an asymp.sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 > 0.05, indicating that the data supports the conclusion that there is a significant difference before and after performing counterpressure with a birth ball. Additionally, the paired t-test revealed that the average pain level before the intervention was 8.20, while the average pain level after the intervention was 6.23. This indicates a reduction in pain intensity with a difference of 1.97, and the significance value obtained was 0.000 > 5% (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, the hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, meaning that counterpressure with a birth ball has a significant effect on reducing labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor. The study suggests that counterpressure using a birth ball can be used as an alternative non-pharmacological therapy for pain management during the active phase of the first stage of labor.

Abstract

The process of childbirth can lead to various psychological aspects that may cause a range of psychological problems, one of which is anxiety. Anxiety is one of the most common feelings experienced by pregnant women as they approach labor. According to the World Health Organization (2020), approximately 10% of pregnant women and 15% of women who have recently given birth experience mental health problems, particularly depression. The prevalence rates are even higher in developing countries, reaching 15.6% during pregnancy and 19.8% postpartum. In Indonesia, the incidence of anxiety among pregnant women is reported to be around 373,000 cases. Of these, 107,000 cases, or 28.7%, involve moderate anxiety occurring as women approach labor. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of prenatal exercise on anxiety levels in facing the childbirth process. The research design was a quasi-experimental study using a pretest-posttest control group design. In this study, the experimental group received an intervention in the form of prenatal exercise, while the control group did not undergo any prenatal exercise. The sample consisted of 40 respondents. The study was conducted at Pondok Labu Community Health Center, South Jakarta. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, with a T-Test for statistical analysis. The results showed that prenatal exercise had a significant effect on reducing anxiety levels before childbirth (p-value = 0.000). It is recommended that pregnant women familiarize themselves with prenatal exercise procedures as a strategy to manage anxiety before labor.

Abstract

The calcaneus is the largest tarsal bone and functions to support the body. Calcaneal fractures are relatively rare, accounting for approximately 1–2% of all fractures. Prompt management is required for such fractures, often involving surgical intervention, which can result in postoperative pain. One method for managing this pain is through lavender aromatherapy. This study aims to evaluate the use of lavender aromatherapy relaxation techniques in reducing pain in patients following surgery for an open fracture of the left calcaneus. This research is a descriptive qualitative case study using a single-case design involving a patient who underwent surgery for an open fracture of the left calcaneus. The intervention involved administering a lavender aromatherapy relaxation technique, with pain levels assessed using the Numeric Pain Scale. The results showed that following the intervention — the use of lavender aromatherapy relaxation combined with analgesics — the patient's pain level decreased from a score of 5 to 3. The conclusion of this case study indicates that the application of lavender aromatherapy relaxation techniques combined with analgesics is easy to administer and effective in reducing pain levels in patients after surgery for an open fracture of the left calcaneus.

Abstract

Health center services have undergone significant changes to anticipate the potential increase in Covid-19 cases. In addition to virtual services, direct services to the community were also carried out in accordance with established health protocols. The Outpatient Registration Unit is a functional unit responsible for handling the registration of patients seeking outpatient care at the health center. One problem that emerged regarding the outpatient registration process was the community's lack of knowledge about the updated registration procedures introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic, which involved using a hotline or online consultation, followed by in-person medication pickup at the health center at a time specified by the doctor. The aim of this study is to identify the outpatient registration flow before, during, and the differences in the flow during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study employed a qualitative method in the form of descriptive research. Subjects in this study were selected using purposive sampling, with the main informants being the Head of the Health Center and the Head of Administration. Based on the findings, there were notable differences in the outpatient registration flow before and during the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, patients registered and consulted directly at the health center. During the pandemic, the flow changed to using a hotline or online consultation system.

Abstract

Anemia is a global public health issue that can increase morbidity and mortality rates. Despite ongoing efforts, the prevalence of anemia remains high. This descriptive study employed a cross-sectional method aimed at gathering information regarding factors influencing the incidence of anemia among pregnant women, using medical records as the primary data source. The study was conducted from November 2021 to January 2022, involving 20 pregnant women as respondents. The data collected included independent variables (ANC visits, economic status, and nutritional status) and a dependent variable (the incidence of anemia), measured using a questionnaire. Based on the data table, among the 20 respondents with low economic status, 7 pregnant women (19.7%) did not suffer from anemia, whereas among the 20 respondents with high economic status, 6 pregnant women (19.0%) were found to have anemia. Statistical testing yielded a P-value of 0.014, indicating a significant relationship between economic status and the incidence of anemia. Analysis results showed an Odds Ratio (OR) of 2.500, suggesting that pregnant women with low economic status have a 2.5 times higher risk of developing anemia compared to those with higher economic status. It is recommended that midwives enhance their provision of counseling for pregnant women, particularly from the first trimester, regarding the dangers of anemia during pregnancy, and the effects of hemoglobin levels on both maternal health and fetal development.
