Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is one of the non-communicable diseases with an increasing prevalence in Indonesia. Early prevention becomes a strategic step to reduce the number of new cases, especially through health promotion approaches and increasing public health literacy. This study aims to analyze the relationship between health literacy and health promotion on social media with efforts to prevent Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The method used is quantitative with a cross-sectional survey approach involving 250 adult respondents who are active social media users. The instruments used include a health literacy questionnaire, the intensity of health promotion exposure on social media, and indicators of diabetes prevention behaviors. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression tests. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between health literacy (r = 0.521, p < 0.01) and health promotion on social media (r = 0.438, p < 0.01) with efforts to prevent Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. These findings indicate the importance of strengthening digital-based health education and improving the community's ability to understand health information to promote healthy behavior. This study recommends optimizing informative and interactive health promotion content on social media as an effective prevention strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the effects of explanatory videos and regatama booklets on adolescents' compliance in consuming iron tablets. The problem of low compliance among adolescents in consuming iron tablets can lead to iron deficiency risks that impact health. Therefore, it is essential to investigate the most effective methods to improve compliance. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The sample of this study consists of 100 adolescents, divided into two groups: one receiving explanatory videos and the other receiving regatama booklets. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring adolescents' compliance in consuming iron tablets before and after the intervention. Data analysis used a t-test to compare the two groups. The results showed that both media had a positive effect on adolescents' compliance; however, the explanatory video was more effective than the regatama booklet in increasing compliance in consuming iron tablets. This study suggests using explanatory videos as a more efficient educational method to raise awareness and improve adolescents' compliance with iron tablet consumption.

Abstract

Dyspepsia is a common complaint of the upper gastrointestinal tract that often leads to a decrease in quality of life and increased healthcare burden. Two drugs commonly used in the treatment of dyspepsia are ranitidine, an H2 receptor antagonist, and omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor. This study aims to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of ranitidine and omeprazole in reducing the length of treatment for dyspepsia patients. The study uses a quantitative method with a retrospective approach to the medical record data of inpatient dyspepsia patients at a hospital in Indonesia. The sample consisted of two groups of patients, each receiving ranitidine and omeprazole therapy. Analysis was performed on treatment duration, symptom improvement, and adverse events. The results showed that patients receiving omeprazole had a more significant reduction in average treatment duration compared to the ranitidine group. Furthermore, omeprazole had better tolerability with fewer side effects. These findings indicate that omeprazole is more clinically effective in accelerating the recovery of dyspepsia patients compared to ranitidine. This study provides a scientific basis for medical practitioners in choosing optimal therapy for dyspepsia, especially in the context of healthcare efficiency. Further research with a prospective design is needed to strengthen these findings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of nutritional status and age of menarche on the incidence of dysmenorrhea in female adolescents at the high school level. Dysmenorrhea is a common complaint of menstrual pain experienced by adolescents, which can affect their quality of life and activities. Factors such as nutritional status and age of menarche are believed to play an important role in determining the intensity and frequency of dysmenorrhea. This study uses an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 150 female adolescents from several high schools in East Java. Nutritional status data were collected through body mass index (BMI) measurements, while the age of menarche was obtained through a questionnaire. The incidence of dysmenorrhea was measured based on the adolescents' subjective reports of the intensity of menstrual pain experienced. Data analysis was performed using chi-square tests and logistic regression to determine significant relationships between these variables. The results of the study show that poor nutritional status and younger age of menarche have a significant influence on the increased incidence of dysmenorrhea in female adolescents. These findings can provide important information for healthcare professionals and educators to offer appropriate interventions in reducing the impact of dysmenorrhea on female adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a prevalent condition among the elderly and a major risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Monotherapy often fails to achieve optimal blood pressure (BP) control in this population due to age-related physiological changes and comorbidities. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of combination antihypertensive therapy in achieving blood pressure control among elderly patients. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted involving elderly patients (≥65 years) diagnosed with hypertension and receiving combination antihypertensive therapy. Blood pressure measurements were assessed at baseline and after 3 months of treatment. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients achieving target BP (<140/90 mmHg). Secondary outcomes included changes in systolic and diastolic BP and incidence of adverse effects. Results: Among 210 participants, 72.4% achieved target BP after 3 months of combination therapy. The mean reduction in systolic and diastolic BP was 18.6 ± 6.2 mmHg and 9.3 ± 3.8 mmHg, respectively. Combination therapy was generally well tolerated, with minimal adverse events reported. Conclusion: Combination antihypertensive therapy is effective and well tolerated in controlling blood pressure among the elderly. Its use should be considered in patients who do not achieve target BP with monotherapy, with close monitoring for potential side effects.

Abstract

Malnutrition among children under five remains a significant public health concern, particularly in remote areas with limited access to healthcare, education, and nutritious food. This study aims to assess the nutritional status of children under five and identify its key determinants in remote communities. A cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 250 children aged 6–59 months in selected remote villages. Nutritional status was assessed using anthropometric indicators such as weight-for-age, height-for-age, and weight-for-height, following WHO standards. Socio-demographic and environmental data were collected through structured interviews with caregivers. The results showed that 34.8% of children were stunted, 21.2% were underweight, and 11.6% were wasted. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that low maternal education, inadequate dietary diversity, poor sanitation, and limited access to health services were significantly associated with malnutrition. These findings highlight the urgent need for targeted nutrition interventions and integrated development strategies to address the underlying factors contributing to poor nutritional outcomes in remote settings.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, are becoming increasingly prevalent among adolescents, especially in urban areas experiencing rapid lifestyle changes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between dietary patterns and the risk of NCDs among adolescents in Mataram City, Lombok. A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 300 high school students aged 15–18 years from five schools across Mataram. Data collection included validated food frequency questionnaires (FFQ), anthropometric measurements, and structured interviews to assess lifestyle factors. Dietary patterns were classified into three categories: healthy (high intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains), mixed (moderate intake of processed and sugary foods), and unhealthy (frequent consumption of fast food, sweetened beverages, and high-fat snacks). Risk indicators such as Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, and family history of NCDs were analyzed using chi-square tests and logistic regression. The results indicated a significant association between unhealthy dietary patterns and elevated BMI (p < 0.01) and increased systolic blood pressure (p < 0.05). Adolescents with unhealthy eating habits were found to be 2.7 times more likely to be at risk for NCDs compared to their peers with healthy diets (OR = 2.7; 95% CI: 1.7–4.3). These findings emphasize the urgent need for targeted nutritional education and health promotion strategies in urban schools within Mataram. Early interventions can play a crucial role in reducing the long-term burden of NCDs among the youth population.
