Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the use of audio-visual learning materials affects the geography learning outcomes of SMA N 2 Payakumbuh's class X Phase E pupils. The approach was a two-group experiment using audio-visual media in the experimental group and traditional methods in the control group. Tests of learning outcomes are used to gather data both before and after instruction. According to the analysis's findings, pupils who were taught with audio-visual materials scored noticeably higher than those who were taught through traditional means. According to these results, students' comprehension of geographic ideas and engagement with the learning process can both be improved by using audio-visual learning materials. Consequently, it is advised that educators use audiovisual materials into their lessons to raise the caliber of geography learning in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the geographical characteristics and development strategies of the Sarasah Donat tourist attraction in Harau Valley, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that Sarasah Donat has unique tourism potential, including a donut-shaped waterfall, biodiversity, and natural landscapes. These characteristics are supported by physical conditions such as granite cliffs, fertile andosol soil, and a tropical wet climate. However, challenges such as limited accessibility affect the number of visitors. Development strategies include infrastructure improvement, community empowerment in tourism management, and digital promotion to attract more visitors. Environmental conservation education is also a key focus. The study concludes that sustainable development can enhance the appeal of Sarasah Donat while preserving the natural environment and supporting the well-being of the surrounding community. Abstract

Siberut Island is one of the areas prone to earthquake and tsunami disasters in West Sumatra. This area has a high accumulation of stress, which has the potential to cause large earthquakes and tsunamis. To reduce this risk, disaster mitigation is needed and in this case the Mentawai people have local wisdom which is used as an Early Warning System. The aim of this research is to analyze the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to determine the tsunami inundation hazard index in tsunami disaster mitigation efforts and to analyze the role of Teteu Amusiat Loga local wisdom as an Early Warning System. This research uses a mixed method design with a quantitative and qualitative approach that combines spatial and SWOT analysis. Descriptive analysis using the SWOT method was carried out by looking at internal and external factors in local wisdom-based disaster mitigation which were then identified with the elements of Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats. From this research, it was found that the high tsunami inundation hazard area of 10m was 14143.81 ha, 15m total 19737.38 and 20m 25154.3 ha with a total hazard area of 59035.49 ha. In this case, local wisdom has an important role in disaster mitigation, one of which is through the song Teteu Amusiat Loga which is used as an Early Warning System, but there is a level of knowledge related to this song in various age groups. The research results also explain that mass media and modern communication platforms provide opportunities to develop local wisdom, but this local wisdom is not in accordance with modern standards for disaster mitigation.
