Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of Islamic values and local wisdom in the Émbu tradition in Madura which is applied in trade practices. The Émbu tradition is a manifestation of cultural locality that reflects the values of honesty, trust, and togetherness, which are in line with Islamic teachings. The study used a qualitative approach with field study methods and in-depth interviews with traders in Madura who still practice this tradition. The results of the study show that the Émbu tradition not only strengthens social relations among trading communities, but also creates an ethical and harmonious trading atmosphere, which contributes to consumer trust. The integration of this tradition with Islamic values enriches trade practices, while maintaining the cultural identity of Madura. The impact of this study is to provide insight into how local traditions can support economic development based on spiritual values, while also being a model for other regions with similar traditions

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of early marriage from the perspectives of Islamic law and positive law in Indonesia. The methodology employed includes an empirical approach involving direct observation, in-depth interviews, and a literature review. Interviews were conducted using Google Forms, with participants aged 18–21 years serving as the subjects. The results reveal diverse public views on early marriage: some consider it a tradition that should be respected, while others view it as a violation of human rights. Economic, cultural, and educational factors were identified as the primary drivers of the high rate of early marriage in Jember Regency. A legal analysis indicates that, while Islamic law permits early marriage based on the attainment of puberty, Indonesian positive law stipulates a minimum age for marriage. The study concludes that misunderstandings about Islamic law and a lack of education are significant contributors to early marriage in Indonesia. The author recommends increasing public education and enforcing stricter legal regulations to reduce the prevalence of early marriages.

Abstract

Cultural evolution has occurred in various aspects of community life, including religious practices. In Indonesia, religious study groups (majlīs taʻlīm) and prayer groups (majlīs ṣalāwāt) are two forms of religious activities that play an important role in the spiritual development of Muslims. However, recently, prayer groups (majlīs ṣalāwāt) have become more popular than religious study groups (majlīs taʻlīm). This study aims to examine the cultural evolution in the religious practices of the Muslim community in Indonesia, focusing particularly on the transition from religious study groups to prayer groups. The study was conducted using a literature review method, collecting data from various relevant sources. The results show that this shift is influenced by several factors, including the appeal and interactivity of prayer group activities, their emotional impact, ease of understanding, and the strengthening of the communities involved. Furthermore, technological advancements and new media have accelerated the spread and popularity of prayer groups, particularly among the younger generation. The impact of this evolution includes changes in the function and tone of religious studies, the integration of music into spiritual activities, and the emergence of new forms of cultural expression that blend tradition and modernity. This study provides insight into how social and cultural changes shape religious practices and the spiritual identity of Muslims in Indonesia
