Abstract

The Correlation Test and Path Analysis of Antrachnose Disease Resistance of Pepaya ABSTRACT. The aims of this research were to estimate the correlation coefficient among agronomic traits on antrachnose disease resistance of papaya and evaluate the direct and indirect effects of those traits on antrachnose disease resistance of papaya. The result showed that fruit length, flesh thickness, percent symptoms had positive correlation to severity disease and dry of fruit ripe, percent TSS, flesh fimness had negative correlation to severity disease. Path analysis applied an agronomic and resistance character on antachnose disease resiistance indicated that antrachnose disease resistance was directly affected by percent symptom. The largest compound path coefficient of agronomic traits on antrachnose disease resistance that percent TSS and flesh thickness via percent symptom.

Abstract

Assesments of Land Characteristics of Soybean at Bireuen DistrictABSTRACT. Bireuen district has been known as soybean production centre in Aceh Province. However, average yield obtained is still under national yield. This research aimed: (1) to find out a relationship between land suitability and soybean yield, (2) to evaluate a relationship between land characteristics and soybean yield, (3) to determinate the land characteristics as determinable factor for soybean yield. There were nine characteristics sites were used under soybean farming that have land heterogeneity among sites and homogeneity within sites: 4 under rice field and 5 under rainfed. Natures of land morphology was evaluated each sites, and then soil samples were taken for soil properties evaluation in laboratory. The parameter of land morphology properties, physical and chemical were then adjusted according to the need of land suitability for soybean. Level of land management and its yield done by farmers were also evaluated. Yield from each plot (2 x 3 m2) was at random determined. The land suitability class was determined by comparing the land characteristics/land quality with soybean growth specification. Criteria made by Agriculture Department was used as a guidance. Futhermore, in order to determine determinable land characteristics were arranged in multiple linear regression analyses, in which yield of soybean as a Y and land characteristics as a X. Research result showed that the class of land suitability established were in parallel with soybean yields measure under relatively good management plots. Of the land characteristics that can be used as determinable factor were slope, rainfall, texture, drainage, and nutrient storage (pH). A multiple linear regression equation was established for soybean yield as follow: Y= -1.133 – 0.018X1 + 0.001X2 – 0.001X3 + 0.009X4 + 19.555X5 + 0.025X6 + 0.781X7 – 0.019X8; R2= 0.98, where : X1 = slope, X2= soil susceptibility to erosion, X3= rainfall, X4= sand fraction, X5= N-total, X6= P-available, X7= K-exchange, X8= base saturation, and R2= determination coefficient.

Abstract

Weed-Crop Growth Analysis and Yield of Corn with Groundnut and Mungbean of Varying Plant Population in Intercropping SystemABSTRACT. The present experiment is designed to evaluated the weed-crop growth of intercrop between corn with mungbean and groundnut of varying plant populations. The experimental used the single factor field experiment that arranged with randomized completely block design with three block as replication. Intercropping followed additive series system, i.e.: (A) corn 100% + mungbean 25%, (B) corn 100% + mungbean 50%, (C) corn 100% + mungbean 75%, (D) corn 100% + groundnut 25%, corn 100% + groundnut 50%, (F) corn 100% + groundnut 75%. Experimental result showed that: Intercropping corn with groundnut and mungbean of able to weed growth suppressed of sedges, and Intercropping crop with groundnut at 75% rate of recommended population weed growth suppressed of total weeds compared to the other three mungbean populations. Intercropping corn with groundnut at 25% of recommended rate gave the highest sweet corn yield per hectare.

Abstract

Early Study on Arabica Coffee Varieties Base on Altitude Position on Gayo Highland AreaABSTRACT. Farmer cultivated mixed-varieties of arabica coffee in an area. As result no specific tasted for specific variety found. This result aims to observe the best coffee to be recommended for various altitude cultivation. There are nine altitude variations, 100 m interval from 700 to 1600 m above sea level (asl). For each internal altitude, coated-red coffee been harvested at farmers coffee farms at almost the same management and growth. The variables of arabica coffee bean quality physically observed were coated-red raw bean, coffee beans, coffee quality , beans passed on various filters, bean shape and tasted. The result showed that arabica coffee bean quality physically is getting better till 1400 m asl and then tends to decrease the quality till 1600 m asl as shown in export quality percentages, no passed at 7.50 mm filter, the percentage of normal beans, and tasted scores. However for coated-red raw asl. In contrast, floating coated-bean, floating bean and normal beans is decrease. Catimor Jaluk Variety of coffee arabica is suitable for all altitudes observed, followed by arabusta, Lini-S, Bergendal, and USDA. To avoid the dissimilarity of specific taste to highland arabica coffee, the varieties could be extended at different areas even though the same altitude.

Abstract

The Introduction of Neochetina eichhorniae (COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONIDAE): The Potency of Non-Target Impact on Local Plant CommunitiesABSTRACT. When introduce an exotic insect species as a biological agent thought cause non-target impacts, directly or indirectly, on local plants species. The objective of this research is to evaluate the potency of nontarget impacts of introducing Neochetina eichhorniae on local plants aquatic communities. The results of the research indicated that the weevil showed a high preference and host specific on waterhyacinth, and so far the house shifting was not occur. Insitu observation showed that this biological agent was not found in any others aquatic and non aquatic plants living around water areas. This data indicated that host range expansion by the weevil was not consist.

Abstract

Penampilan Agronomi Tanaman Kacang Hijau yang Ditanam Pada Tingkat Naungan BerbedaABSTRAK. Intensitas cahaya rendah akibat adanya naungan merupakan salah satu kendala utama dalam pengembangan tanaman pangan sebagai tanaman sela pada areal perkebunan. Pemahaman yang lebih baik terhadap karakter agronomi tanaman pangan pada kondisi naungan sangat membantu dalam pengelolaan tanaman pangan sebagai tanaman sela secara produktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penampilan agronomi beberapa varietas kacang hijau pada tingkat naungan berbeda. Perlakuan disusun secara faktorial dalam rancangan acak kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama berupa naungan dengan dua taraf, yaitu 0% dan 50%. Faktor kedua berupa varietas kacang hijau yang meliputi Merpati, Parkit, Walet, Jelatik, Betet, Kenari, dan Perkutut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa naungan 50% secara nyata menurunkan jumlah daun, akumulasi bahan kering, hasil biji dan indeks panen. Pada kondisi naungan 0% dan 50%, jumlah polong, jumlah biji dan indeks panen secara nyata tetap berkolerasi positif dengan hasil biji tanaman kacang hijau. Tampaknya, jumlah polong, jumlah biji, dan indeks panen juga menjadi karakter agronomi penentu hasil kacang hijau pada kondisi naungan.

Abstract

The Parasitism Level of Various Egg Parasitoids Associated with Nezara viridula L. on Soybean PlantationABSTRACT. It is well known that the presence of various egg parasitoids on the green stink bug, Nezara viridula, can decrease the population of this insect pest on soybean plantation. A research has been conducted to observe the parasitism level of various egg parasitoids associated with N. viridula on different stages of soybean plantation. The plant stages used were 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, and 10-12 weeks after planting (WAP), with 6 experimental plot for each stage, and 5 plants for each experimental unit. Three pairs of N. viridula adult then were relased onto each plant which was covered by the gauze cage earlier. When egg were laid, the cage was taken out leaving 2 eggs rafts per plant. These N. viridula eggs then were exposed to parasitoid for three days, before taking them all to the laboratory. The observations were done on the parasitized eggs. The result showed that different stages of soybean plants significantly affected the parasitism level of various egg parasitoids, with 26 to 46% parasitism level. Up to 71.8% of parasitize egg successfully became adult parasitoids. There were four different Hymenoptera egg parasitoids found associated with N. viridula, namely Telenomus sp. (Scelionidae), Gryon sp. (Scelionidae), Mycroteris sp. (Encyrtidae), and Anastatus sp. (Eupelmidae). Due to its abunden (91.5%) on soybean plantation, and its fair sex ratio, Telenomus sp.is believed to have a great potential for future development as a biological control agent on the green stink bug, N. viridula.

Abstract

Effect Inoculation of Indigenous Population of Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Fungi and Dosage of Mulch on Mycorrhiza Effectiveness and Agronomy Characteristics of Upland Rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Green HouseABSTRACT. The experiment was conducted to study agronomy characteristics and mycorrhiza effectiveness of upland rice in green house with various levels of AMF inoculants and mulch dosage application. The pot of experiment was carried out in the green house of Agricultural Faculty, The University of Lampung from October 2004 untill February 2005. The experiment used randomized complit block design arranged in factorial pattern with two factors. The first factor was dosages of mulch (0, 5, 10, and 15 ton ha-1) and the second factor was AMF inoculants dosages which consist of four levels, those were 0, 25, 50, and 75 g pot-1. The result of this experiment showed that dosages of mulch and AMF inoculants affect to agronomy characteristics and mycorrhiza effectiveness of upland rice in the green house. Up to the certain dosages, inoculants of AMF and mulch raised P content in plant, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, harvest index, and mycorrhiza effectiveness.

Abstract

Spesies Nematoda Habitat Pada Pohon Pinus Mati Akibat Terserang Penyakit Layu Nematoda (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus).ABSTRAK. Spesies-spesies nematode habitat pada pohon pinus mati akibat terserang nematode (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus) telah diisolasi dan diidentifikasi. Lima belas spesies nematode telah terdeteksi, diantaranya (i) lima spesies nematode mycophagus: B. xylophilus, Bursaphilenchus n. sp., dan B. sinensis, Tylencida sp. 1, Tylencida sp. 2; (ii) Sembilan spesies nematode saprophagus: Diplogasterida sp. 1, Diplogasterida sp. 2, Diplogasterida sp. 3, Diplogasterida sp. 4, Monhisterida sp. 1, Monhisterida sp.2, Rhabditida sp. 1, Rhabditida sp. 2, Plectidae sp.; dan (iii) satu spesies nematode predator yaitu Mononchida sp. Dari setiap waktu pengamatan nematode B. xylophilus ditemukan merupakan spesies nematode yang paling dominan, dan diikuti oleh spesies Diplogasterida sp. 1.

Abstract

Test of Iodine Formula Fertilizers to Plant Yield and Iodine Content of Crops in Goiter Endemic AreaABSTRACT. The research aims to get iodized fertilizer formula which is capable to improve iodine rate in crop that lasted from May to September 2007. The field experiment was conducted in Baturiti, Tabanan Regency. The formula tested of iodized fertilizer represents field experiment using one factor simple randomized completely block design (RCBD) by using 15 fertilizer formulas combination treatment. Iodized fertilizer formulas of which main material is KI as source of iodine was combined with fertilizer of Urea, ZA, and phonska as source of nitrogen. Each formula was added which organic fertilizer, such as Kascing, Compost, cow manure, and chicken manure. Fertilizer doses used as a treatment was 10 kg I, 138 kg N, 60 kg P, 60 kg K, and 5 ton organic fertilizer ha-1. Generally, iodized fertilizer formulas that was used as a treatment could improve iodine content in crops. There were no significant influence among the iodized fertilizer formulas to crop iodine content and plant yield, except it was compared to crops iodine content and yield which was without treatment (control). The iodine content in crop increased to 500-700% with iodized fertilizer formulas. After being given fertilizer dose treatment 10 kg I, 138 kg N, 60 kg P, 60 kg K, and 50 ton organic fertilizer ha-1, iodine content of each crop are as follows mustard greens 514.57-539.36 μg kg-1, cabbage 527.19-545.10 μg kg-1, cassava leaf 445.40-458.34 μg kg-1, and corn grain 220.53-223.18 μg kg-1, respectively.
