Abstract

Abstrak           Hingga saat ini bila dibandingkan dengan negara-negara lain di dunia, Indonesia masih berada di peringkat terbawah. Kemampuan siswa Indonesia dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal yang menuntut kemampuan menelaah, memberi alasan, mengkomunikasikannya secara efektif, memecahkan masalah dan menginterpretasikan permasalahan dalam berbagai situasi masih sangat lemah. Untuk membantu meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika setara PISA, penulis melakukan penelitian dengan judul: “Meningkatkan Kemampuan Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas dalam  Menyelesaikan Soal  Matematika Setara PISA Melalui Pendekatan Konstruktivisme”. Penelitian ini mengukur kemampuan menyelesaikan soal matematika setara PISA siswa SMA. Salah satu alternatif pembelajaran yang memungkinkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika setara PISA adalah Pendekatan Pembelajaran Konstruktivisme. Belajar menggunakan pendekatan konstruktivisme memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk menkonstruksi pengalamannya sedikit demi sedikit. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan siswa menyelesaikan soal matematika setara PISA dengan menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran konstruktivisme, serta mengetahui sikap siswa selama pembelajaran. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA Negeri 1 Lhokseumawe, sedangkan sampelnya adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Lhokseumawe. Dua kelas dipilih secara random sampling  untuk dijadikan kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen, dari kedua kelas tersebut lalu dipilih 20 siswa yang berumur sekitar 15 tahun. Instrument yang digunakan terdiri dari tes kemampuan menyelesaikan soal matematika setara PISA, angket sikap siswa, dan lembar observasi. Berdasarkan analisa data menggunakan SPSS 17 for windows dan Microsoft excel 2007, dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal matematika setara PISA siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan konstruktivisme lebih baik daripada peningkatan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal matematika setara PISA siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Siswa memiliki sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan konstruktivisme; aktivitas siswa setelah memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan konstruktivisme secara keseluruhan baik.Kata Kunci: Konstruktivisme, Literasi Matematis, PISA

Abstract

Abstrak             Model pembelajaran ARCS (attention, relevance, confidence, satisfaction) merupakan model yang dikembangkan berdasarkan review tentang motivasi dengan tujuan mengaktifkan siswa belajar.Selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung aspek motivasi sangat mempengaruhi hasil belajar. Statistika merupakan salah satu materi pelajaran yang harus dikuasai siswa namun di SMANegeri2 RSBI Banda Aceh hasil belajar siswa rendah. Model pembelajaran ARCS dalam mempelajari materi statistika dapat menjadi alternatif yang dapat diterapkan dengan harapan siswa termotivasi dalam belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketuntasan belajar siswa, perhatian (attention), keterkaitan bahan ajar dengan kebutuhan siswa (relevance), percaya diri (confidence), dan kepuasan (satisfaction) siswa pada materi statistika yang diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran ARCS. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Penelitian ini merupakan pre-eksperimental design  jenis one shot case study. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 RSBI Banda Aceh dengan KKM materi Statistika 75. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IA 1 sebanyak 24 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes hasil belajar, angket motivasi siswa, wawancara, dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perhatian siswa, keterkaitan bahan ajar dengan kebutuhan siswa, percaya diri siswa, dan kepuasan siswa dikategorikan baik  untuk setiap pertemuan. Respon siswa pada setiap aspek ARCS dikategorikan positif. Namun ketuntasan secara klasikal belum terpenuhi karena persentase siswa yang tuntas belajar  secara individu (KKM = 75) kurang dari 85%. Demikian pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran ARCS belum efektif.Kata kunci: model pembelajaran ARCS, materi statistika

Abstract

Abstrac            Performance assessment is one of alternative assessment that not only assess the final outcome but also assess the processes and skills of students in solving the task. This study aimed to analyze the pre-service teachers’ ability to create and use rubrics in assess students’ performance. Data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. We used two scoring rubrics, to assess the pre-service teachers’s ability in designed and use their rubrics. The result are: 1) the ability of pre-service teachers in designing the assessment rubric for first meeting indicate that all subject has a good skill level, next up for the second meeting of the subject A has a very good skill level, subject B and subject D has a good skill level, while subject C has a pretty good skill level. 2) the ability of pre-service teachers in using assessment rubric for first meeting indicate that the subject A, subject C, and subject D each subject has a very good skill level, while subject B has a good skill level, next up for the second meeting of subject A, subject B, and subject D each subject has a very good skill level, while subject C has a good skill level.Keyword: Performance assessment, scoring rubric, pre-service teachers, ability to designed and used their rubrics.

Abstract

AbsractThis qualitative study was to develop realistic mathematical learning device that aims to improve the spatial geometry reasoning for Arun Lhokseumawe Junior High School students of class VIII-1 which consists of 28 students, which was implemented in April 2013. This study begins by developing learning tools that Lesson Plan (RPP), student activity sheet (LKS), Teacher Book (BG), Test Results study (THB). Once validated by the validator and otherwise well, then learning devices tested, in order to obtain the ability of the teacher to manage learning good or very good, qualified learning outcomes test validity, reliability, and sensitivity. Activities for students to learn effectively, individually complete mastery learning is above 65%, in the classical unmet mastery learning is above 85%, and student response above 80% (positive).Keywords: realistic mathematical learning, spatial geometry, and mastery learning

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the mathematical communication skills and habits of mind students and obtains a description of the obstacles faced by the students in using Floyd Warshall algorithm software on shortest path subject. This study is a qualitative research-description. The samples are 4 students of  Teacher Education Mathematics Faculty Unsyiah who take courses Graph Theory on academic year 2012/2013. The subjects was choosen based on the observation who are active, less active and not active students in the learning, and also GPA more than three. The data were obtained from observations, interviews and written responses of research subjects. Mathematical communication skills of students who studied as follows, subject I has fair mathematical communication skills, subject II has very good mathematical communication skills, subjects III has  good mathematical communication skills, and subjects IV has a fair mathematical communication skills. Habits of Mind research subjects is shown as follows; Habits of mind subject I included into the fair category. Habits of Mind of subjects II included into the excellent category, whereas habits of mind of subject III included into the very good category. Last habits of mind of subjects IV included into the fair categori. The obstacles faced by students in the use of software constraints Floyd Warshall algorithm on shortest path is, 1 ) graph / digraph can not be repaired when it is processed, 2 ) do not work can not be stored, 3 ) vertices that can be used is limited, and 4 ) no distance information between one place to another, so less can be used in real life. Abstract

Abstract             Students' conceptual understanding of mathematics acquired through investment concepts and the association of a concept with other concepts. Procedural understanding is that task completion procedure can be given via a demonstration by the teacher. Assumed inductive learning strategies can improve conceptual understanding and procedural math students. This study was conducted to see the effect of inductive learning strategy to increase conceptual understanding and procedural mathematics student and it is a mixed method study. This study is a population that is all class XI IPA MAN Kuta Baro Aceh Besar, which consists of two classes. Obtain experimental class learning with inductive learning strategy and classroom learning gain control conventional. The research instrument consisted of conceptual understanding and procedural tests and interviews. Processing data by using SPSS, Microsoft Excel, t-test and Mann-Whitney test. Data processing results obtained: 1) there is no difference increased conceptual understanding of mathematics students who learn by inductive learning strategy and the learning with conventional learning, both in terms of overall student well in terms of student ratings of high, medium and low, 2) there is a difference increase in the  procedural understanding of mathematical students are learning with inductive learning strategy and the learning with conventional learning, both in terms of overall students and students from low ratings, but there is no difference in terms of improvement when students rank high and medium. Results obtained some mistake interview students, among others: 1) erroneously determine the function of derivative with using the concept of limit because there was erroneous of multiplication algebra process, 2) erroneously write  the example of  function thas has  derivative equals 3, that  does not have derivative, and grouping function that has derivative 2 and it’snt 2 because they do not understand the concept of derivative, 3) erroneously indicate a function that has a derivative at a point because they don’t understand the mean of question  (4) erroneously explain why the f '(0) is undefined for f(x) =   because they don’t understand what is known on th question and divisibility by zero (5)erroneously conclude when a graph has a derivative around x=a because of they don’t understand the reason (6)erroneously determine the derivative quotient and the products of two functions because they don’t understand the definition of a derivative, the proces of algebra product, and it’s simplification (7) erroneously determine the derivative of the root form because  there was an erroneous  in the process of changing the root form. Keywords: Inductive Learning, Conceptual Understanding, Procedural Understanding

Abstract

AbstractProblem solving skills and communication skills is one of the mathematical achievement of the curriculum that must be owned by students in learning mathematics. For that, it needs the right learning model in improving communication skills and mathematical problem solving of students, one model that can improve this ability is a cooperative model of Think-Pair-Share. The aim of this research is to examine differences in mathematical problem solving skills and communication skills among students who obtain mathematical models of cooperative learning Think-Pair-Share and students who receive conventional learning. This research is an experimental study with the study design pre-test post-test control group design. With a population of all eighth grade students of MTsN Darul Ulum Banda Aceh by taking samples of the two classes of experimental class and control class through purposive sampling of four parallel classes available. The data was collected using a test instrument that tests problem solving skills and test students' mathematical communication skills. To see the difference in the ability of students between classes and grade control experiment used the t-test at significance level 0.05. Of the data and results of statistical tests were analyzed with SPSS 16.0 For Windows and Microsoft Excel 2007 to interpret the mathematical problem solving skills and communication skills of the students' mathematical model of cooperative learning with Think-Pair-Share, Overall cooperative models use Think - Pair - Share can improve mathematical problem solving and mathematical communication skills of students.     Keywords: Cooperative learning Think-Pair - Share, mathematical problem solving , mathematical communication

Abstract

Abstract Implementation problem solving as an approach in teaching mathematics besides aiming to improve problem-solving skills can also improve students' critical thinking mathematically. In practice, the application of problem solving approach could be expected to cause change math anxiety. Mathematics anxiety is high or too low will affect the ability of critical thinking mathematically. This research is a quantitative approach to experiment with the aim to obtain a picture of increasing mathematical and critical thinking skills of mathematics anxiety of students in learning by using a problem solving approach is reviewed by the entire student and student grouping. This study uses a form of pretest-posttest control group. Collecting data using a test for mathematical and critical thinking skills questionnaire for math anxiety. Based on the analysis concluded that the increase in critical thinking skills that are taught to students' mathematical problem solving approach is higher than the increase in students' critical thinking skills being taught mathematical with conventional approaches based on the students' overall well-reviewed and reviewed based on grouping students. For math anxiety, there are no significant changes between mathematics anxiety before treatment and after treatment both in classes taught by the problem solving approach and the class is taught by conventional approaches. Based on univariate analysis concluded that there was an interaction between these factors and grouping students learning approach to improving the ability to think mathematically ktitis or math anxiety.Keywords: mathematical critical thinking skills, math anxiety, problem solving approach

Abstract

AbstrakKalkulus merupakan salah satu matakuliah yang mempunyai peranan yang penting dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika, fisika, kimia, biologi, teknik, pertanian, dan ekonomi. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa pendidikan matematika perlu menguasai kalkulus khususnya integral tentu sebagai bekal untuk mengajar dan menyelesaikan masalah sehari-hari. Namun demikian, kenyataan menunjukkan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap konsep integral tentu serta menggunakannnya dalam memecahkan masalah masih rendah. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah model problem based instruction (PBI). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan pemahaman mahasiswa dalam memecahkan masalah tentang integral tentu dengan model PBI. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan jumlah siklus sebanyak 3 (tiga) siklus dan setiap siklus terdiri dari 4 (empat): tahap perencanaan, tahap pelaksanaan, tahap observasi, dan tahap refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika semester II tahun akademik 2011/2012 FKIP Unsyiah. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan memecahkan masalah, lembar pengamatan aktivitas dosen, lembar pengamatan aktivitas mahasiswa, dan angket respon mahasiswa. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil analisis diperoleh pengembangan pemahaman mahasiswa dalam memecahkan masalah tentang integral tentu dilakukan melalui model PBI, yaitu orientasi mahasiswa pada masalah, mengorganisasikan bantuan dalam penyelidikan secara  kelompok, memberi bantuan dalam menyelidiki secara kelompok,  mengembangkan dan memberikan bimbingan memecahkan masalah, menganalisis dan mengevaluasi proses memecahkan masalah.  Kata Kunci: pemahaman, memecahkan masalah, integral tentu, dan model PBI
