Abstract

Abstract Implementation problem solving as an approach in teaching mathematics besides aiming to improve problem-solving skills can also improve students' critical thinking mathematically. In practice, the application of problem solving approach could be expected to cause change math anxiety. Mathematics anxiety is high or too low will affect the ability of critical thinking mathematically. This research is a quantitative approach to experiment with the aim to obtain a picture of increasing mathematical and critical thinking skills of mathematics anxiety of students in learning by using a problem solving approach is reviewed by the entire student and student grouping. This study uses a form of pretest-posttest control group. Collecting data using a test for mathematical and critical thinking skills questionnaire for math anxiety. Based on the analysis concluded that the increase in critical thinking skills that are taught to students' mathematical problem solving approach is higher than the increase in students' critical thinking skills being taught mathematical with conventional approaches based on the students' overall well-reviewed and reviewed based on grouping students. For math anxiety, there are no significant changes between mathematics anxiety before treatment and after treatment both in classes taught by the problem solving approach and the class is taught by conventional approaches. Based on univariate analysis concluded that there was an interaction between these factors and grouping students learning approach to improving the ability to think mathematically ktitis or math anxiety. Keywords: mathematical critical thinking skills, math anxiety, problem solving approach

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to (1) determine how to apply the model of problem based learning in order to improve student learning outcomes and (2) determine learning outcomes and student activities through the application of problem-based learning models. The subjects were students of class X-IPS2 totaling 26 people. The object of research is the study model Problem Based Learning in learning. Student learning outcome data collected through tests and analyzed descriptively. The results of the analysis after the action was obtained in the first cycle there were 11 students (42.3%), which reached the KKM. In the second cycle increased to 23 students (88.5%), which reached KKM, an increase of 42.2%. Student activity also showed an increase, in the first cycle only reached four aspects to seven aspects of the second cycle. Based on the analysis it can be concluded that the application of the model of Problem Based Learning can improve learning outcomes and student activity significantly

Abstract

This research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis. The research was gives an overview of the errors made when solving integer basic operations problems. Subjects consisted of 30 people who were participants in the Substantive Technical Training of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Mathematics Teachers  of the Aceh Province in the Balai Diklat Keagamaan Aceh (BDK) in 2018. Data was collected through tests and analyzed to determine the mistakes made by participants in solving problems. Data validation is done by triangulating data sources by comparing test results and interview data on the same subject. The results of the analysis showed that 13 participants (39%) from all subjects still made mistakes in solving problems. The type of error made is a procedure error, namely a sequence of steps in completing a count operation.

Abstract

Beliefs about Beliefs about the nature of mathematics can impact teachers' confidence in teaching math and their professional development. A study with 187 elementary school teachers in Banda Aceh showed that these beliefs have a significant direct effect on increasing beliefs about teaching math but only a minimal direct effect on improving teachers' professional character. Beliefs about teaching act as an indirect-only mediation variable between beliefs about the nature of mathematics and teacher characteristics, suggesting a high and significant indirect effect. Further research is needed to confirm these results
