Abstract

In the past 10 years, digital technology has changed many aspects of life, including how churches and religious organizations carry out their mission. Today, many activities like worship, learning, and service are done online. This study aims to understand how mission works in the digital era and what challenges and opportunities come with it. The method used is descriptive qualitative, by reading books and journals, observing online mission activities, and conducting interviews. The results show that digital mission can reach more people, but also faces challenges such as ethics, digital culture, and technology. Therefore, churches need a wise and relevant approach to keep their mission effective in the digital world.

Abstract

This research aims to examine and analyze in-depth a digital theology-based pastoral care model as a response to pastoral challenges in the digital age. This approach goes beyond the use of technology as a mere tool, but rather integrates core theological principles such as the theology of presence, theology of embodiment, and theology of community with virtual tools and spaces. The methodology used is a qualitative literature study, analyzing key works by digital theologians such as Heidi A. Campbell and Tim Hutchings, and integrating these with pastoral practice. The results of this study demonstrate that effective digital pastoral care requires an understanding of technology as an environment, not just an instrument. This requires spiritual directors to "incarnate" in the digital space, establishing an authentic presence through platforms such as video calls, social media, and chat. Furthermore, digital care enables the formation of supportive virtual communities, bridging geographical synchronization and providing ongoing support. Ethical challenges such as privacy, data security, and non-verbal meanings are also identified as crucial issues that must be addressed through a robust theological framework.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and elaborate on the concept of offering according to theologian J.L. Ch. Abineno and its relevance in the GMIM Betania. Although offering is often understood as an act of giving material things, Abineno offers a deeper theological perspective, where offering is seen as a response of faith and an act of gratitude of the people based on the holy offering of Christ on the cross. The methodology used is a qualitative literature study with a theological-analytical approach to Abineno's works,. The results of the study show that Abineno distinguishes offerings into two main types: Sacrificium (Christ's perfect and once-for-all offering) and Oblatio (the offering of the people as a response of gratitude). Material offerings (money, possessions) are only one concrete manifestation of a more essential offering, namely the complete offering of oneself. This research aims to examine and analyze in-depth a digital theology-based pastoral care model as a response to pastoral challenges in the digital age. This approach goes beyond the use of technology as a mere tool, but rather integrates core theological principles—such as the theology of presence, theology of embodiment, and theology of community—with virtual tools and spaces. Abstract

Nature, as a living environment, has been gifted to us by God to be used and exploited for human well-being. Humans are far from aware of the importance of environmental preservation. The low level of environmental awareness among the GMIM Alfa Omega Kumaraka Dalam congregation, who live in a flood-prone area, exacerbates flooding, causing losses for those affected. The environment is increasingly damaged by irresponsible human actions. Using a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach, the researcher described what was seen, heard, felt, and asked through direct and indirect observations and interviews. Through this research, the researcher found a lack of dedicated attention from the church to congregations with minimal environmental awareness. Pastors focused too much on providing advice through sermons during services, but lacked a dedicated approach to the congregation. Visits to provide pastoral care to the congregation were rare. The church must be able to fulfill its duties and responsibilities to serve the congregation by maximizing assistance to those with minimal environmental awareness so that the church can guide, support, heal, restore, nurture, and strengthen the lives of the congregation in all aspects of their lives.
