Abstract

The main purpose of this research paper is to give a conceptual framework for sustainable tourism during pandemic like COVID-19 and also build a theoretical understanding of the key concepts relevant to sustainable tourism, which include perceived riskmitigating measures, community satisfaction, community involvement, community attachment, smart tourists' destination selection process, the impact of fear of COVID-19 and role of netizens in sustaining tourism. A qualitative research design is adopted in this study after taking insights from literature about sustainable tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic and conducting interviews with local community members directly participating in tourism activities and tourists who continued their tourism activities during these days. Finally proposes antecedents for sustainable tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. The key ϐindings of this study reveal that society plays the main role in sustaining tourism during a pandemic. This study also provides a conceptual model for measuring sustainable tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic or any other pandemics like this COVID-19. And also, this study provides a deep understanding of those variables involved in the proposed conceptual framework. This study contributes to theory by providing latent variables for sustainable tourism useful for when the tourism industry is facing crises due to pandemic COVID-19. It also provides a conceptual framework with those variables that remain underexplored in previous studies. This conceptual model and literature review from previous studies add to the body of knowledge by introducing latent variables, while the conceptual model proposes relationships between these factors.

Standard self-report questionnaires were used to collect data. Sample of the present study comprised (N = 200). Psychometric properties of variables, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation, and linear regression analysis were applied to analyze the data. The hypotheses are fully accepted. SOC positively predicts well-being, happiness, and life satisfaction, while a SOC negatively predicts stress. A purposive sampling technique was used, thus the study was quantitative. The current investigation is an important expansion in writing on the hypothesis of the feeling of intelligibility. The present study contributes to the theory by suggesting the path to well-being, stress, happiness, and life satisfaction. The present study identified that the SOC positively predicts well-being, happiness, and life satisfaction. The research findings are helpful for the well-being, happiness, and life satisfaction of life for the betterment of a SOC. Prior research was conducted on the SOC and mental health outcome in subcultures of Pakistan', but this study used a sample of different peoples to cope with their difficulties. Past researches were based on cross-cultural, and now present research findings also confirmed the theories in a collectivistic culture. This study predisposes Pakistani research to work on the salutogenic model and explore the new perspective of SOC in Asian culture.

Abstract

Conflicts are a common phenomenon in today’s disorderly world. Ethnic conflicts usually arise in multi-ethnic, pluralistic, or democratic societies. While employing institutional theory, this qualitative study explores the role of institutions in escalating and de-escalating ethnic conflicts through analysis of Gorkhaland and Balochistan ethnic conflicts in India and Pakistan, respectively. Both conflict-prone regions hold significant geo-strategic importance for their countries and share common grievances ranging from political marginalization, identity crisis, structural inequalities, denial of democracy, and enduring state antagonism. Since federalism is considered a golden road towards sustainable ethnic peace, a deep understanding of both conflicts’ nature, synthesis, underpinning factors, and the contemporary situation is pivotal for advancing informed political discourse. The study follows a desk research method for data collection and a descriptive approach for synthesizing the facts gathered from secondary sources, including the grey literature. The study informs that the suppression of dissenting voices doesn’t resolve ethnic conflicts instead adds insult to injuries. The study concludes that as long as the non-democratic policies of the governments are in place, this ethno-regional agenda would continue to be a significant issue in the politics of both federal states – India and Pakistan. The study implies that both countries should volte-face their state policy towards their respective conflict-prone regions to sustain a socially cohesive, economically viable, and politically stable society. The study also presents several contributions coupled with limitations and future research directions.

Abstract

The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to examine a link between social isolation and elderly well-being among elderly. It also probes into the nature and extent of respondents' social isolation as well as their well-being. The sample size was 150, and a multi-stage sampling procedure was employed. Data was collected using an interview schedule, a social isolation scale, and a wellbeing scale. The study's major premise was that there would be a strong link between social isolation and elderly well-being. The findings regarding the prevalenceof social isolation revealed that half of the respondents were at risk of social isolation. Sixty-six percent of the elderly reported a high degree of Wellbeing, 29 percent estimated moderate level of Wellbeing, and the remaining had a low level of Wellbeing. According to the Pearson correlation, social isolation and elderly well-being have a negative significant relationship. It means that being more likely to be socially isolated will lead to a decrease in wellbeing and vice versa. The T test results show that there was no significant difference in social isolation between men and women. On the other hand, there was a considerable difference existed in social isolation between nuclear and joint family structures. Participants in nuclear family structureexperienced higher social isolation than those in joint family structures. Various intervention measures, including as public awareness campaign, the creation of senior citizen pools, and the building of community centres, should be used to prevent social isolation and improve the social adjustment of the elderly in later life.

Abstract

The advancement of internet technology revolutionized the online shopping environment and offered more options to customers in their purchase process, providing them with better products and services and providing opportunities for business firms to open an additional channel to grow. Based on previous inconsistent results regarding the construct of the different channels, the current study proposes Channel Integration as a moderator. Some authors also attribute these insignificant results to a lack of channel integration. While the number of channels increases, the issue of synergies and coordination among channels also increases. The current study investigates the connection between offline service quality and Online Service Quality (ONSQ). Additionally, the moderation of channel integration between offline service quality and ONSQ justifies inconsistent results in multichannel literature. Data was collected from 358 customers of various online fashion industry firms in Pakistan. The study results indicate the significant association between offline service quality and ONSQ. The construct of channel integration moderates the relationship between offline service quality and ONSQ. Hence, the higher the perceived integration between the multiple channels of the firm, the better is the transfer of customer perceptions from one channel to another. Therefore, multichannel firms should acknowledge the role of channel integration in shaping behavioral intentions in multiple channel interaction. Several other variables can be tested to check their moderating effect on customer's perception transfer.
