Abstract

Audience engagement has become a priority in the news industry. Journalists and news producers are adopting innovative ways of storytelling that can engage more and more audiences. For this, the producers and directors are using 360 VR technologies to boost audience engagement. However, there is scarce empirical evidence in underdeveloped countries on the relationship between 360 VR videos and audience engagement. Therefore, the study aimed to find out which element, including the sense of presence, enjoyment, and empathy, is more effective for audience engagement. For this experimental method was employed. Purposefully volunteers were recruited, and a 360 VR video taken from the website “The New York Times” named “The Displaced was shown to them. Their responses were collected on the pre-structured questionnaires. The findings showed that a sense of presence is very vital for audience engagement as the more audience “feel being there” in the 360 VR video, they will be engaged more similarly, the role of enjoyment and empathy is also very important in 360 VR videos. These three elements might be considered as the foundation of the 360 VR video industry. Therefore, the producers and the technology experts can get benefit from these results. It also contributes to the scarcity of 360 VR literature particularly. There is very limited empirical evidence on the relationship of sense of presence, enjoyment, and empathy with audience engagement in underdeveloped countries like Pakistan as this technology is in the very early stage.

The original contribution of this research focuses on putting the responsibility on state governments to protect such a vulnerable group and analyze how their behavior is governed by way of International law. Abstract

Errors are the most common possibility in the ESL learning process and Error Analysis, a never ending venture, remains an ongoing area of research as long as people continue to learn second or foreign language. Similarly, the present study aims to diagnose learners' linguistic choices and it categorizes errors in order to study competence and performance of participants in target language. Corder's (1974) procedural method of error analysis is followed as theoretical framework; the present article analyzes the written manuscripts of Pakistani graduating ESL learners. The corpus consisted of data collected through 200 students’ written work from two different faculties i.e., Basic Sciences and Computer Science. Data is collected through purposive sampling technique from first year university students. The study identifies, classifies, and explains seven classes of errors as follow: lexical errors, syntactic errors, morphological errors, semantic errors, errors of articles, spelling errors and online language errors. Results show that learners are influenced by the patterns of their L1; consequently, they translate, borrow, and rely more on L1. It suggests that they may be familiar with the rules of the target language but due to lack of practice, they cannot perform well. Also, findings of the study confirm that spelling, articles, and online language errors are the most common. The study concludes with a suggestion to look for constructive pedagogical strategies to reduce the high frequency of these errors in ESL classrooms in Pakistani context. The present study may act as a feedback for students and a clue of modification in pedagogical methodologies and syllabus design for teachers.

Abstract

After becoming a signatory of UNCRPD, inclusive education is a reality for approaching days; however, due to our already weak and socio-religiously confused educational system, teachers and parents of delayed students, are not ready to accept them in mainstream classrooms. The basic reason for such reluctance is lack of awareness and fears of added responsibilities, which may be associated with this major shift in educational methodology. The aim of the research is to understand the attitude and perception of teachers about the inclusive education concept. In this study, mixed-method research (both qualitative and quantitative) was used. The research instrument was developed according to the directions and guidance provided by experts with fourteen items, which were then shared with 100 elementary school teachers belonging from different Federally administered educational institutions in District Okara, and their responses were quantified for analysis. Moreover, interviews of senior teachers from the same educational institutions were also conducted to obtain a clear perspective of the issue. Convenience sampling techniques were used, and descriptive analysis was used to assess responses. Based on acquired data, results were finalized, which showed reluctance by teachers due to lack of awareness as well as fear of additional responsibilities and expectations without any visible incentive. Moreover, neither required human resources nor infrastructures allow an inclusive schooling system to be adopted. Thus, a gradual approach towards implementation of a new concept along with concrete steps by the government is found to be the most viable option for approaching the issue.
