Abstract

The Batang Arau River is the second longest river in the city of Padang (West Sumatra). Many anthropogenic activities can reduce water quality. This study aimed to determine the correlation water quality with the hydrological parameters of the Batang Arau River (2013-2020). The data taken is secondary data from several agencies in the city of Padang. Data analysed was secondary data from various institution in Padang. Simple Linear Regression between water quality parameters towards velocity and river discharge was applied. River discharge correlated with DO (r = 0.68), and velocity is very closely correlated with TDS (r = 0.82) in the rainy season. Meanwhile, very close correlation between discharge and TDS (r = 0.98) and velocity with DO (r = 0.95) in the dry season.

Abstract

Given the emergence of several new regulations in the environmental sector, stakeholders need to understand these regulations well. Therefore, this article aims to provide a practical understanding of the mechanism for compiling and evaluating environmental documents to obtain environmental approvals contained in a number of new regulations. The issuance of Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 requires the issuance of several new Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulations. There are several new requirements that must be met in submitting an application for an environmental feasibility test, namely: Letter of direction for the preparation of environmental documents, Statement letter that the proposed activity is still in the planning stage (for new activity plans), Technical Approval, Initial approval related to the business/activity plan, Evidence of conformity of the location of the business/activity plan with the spatial plan. The authority to assess environmental documents is based on the authority to issue business permits and the establishment of a Feasibility Test Team (TUK) to replace the role of the EIA Assessment Commission (KPA).

Abstract

Thousand Islands is one of the districts in Jakarta Capital Special Region, Indonesia. Thousand Islands has a different waste management to those on land, because the waste must be shipped by sea. The purpose of this study was to determine the management model and supply chain of waste in Thousand Islands by: (1) Analyzing the condition of waste in Thousand Islands during the Covid-19 pandemic, (2) Analyzing the waste supply chain in Thousand Islands during the Covid-19 pandemic, (3) Analyzing models and strategies for effective waste management and processing in Thousand Islands. The method used was descriptive analysis method, supply chain analysis method, and SWOT analysis method. The results of this study indicate that Thousand Islands already has good waste management which is indicated by the existence of various written policies and regulations from the government for waste management. However, there are several obstacles such as the limited amount of transportation to send waste and weather factors that sometimes hinder the delivery of waste to Bantar Gebang. The results of the SWOT analysis show that the condition of waste management in Thousand Islands is in quadrant I, its means the management supports an aggressive strategy.

Abstract

Diseases that are transmitted by animals to humans are known as zoonoses. In the last few decades, there have been various zoonoses such as AIDS, SARS, MERS, ZIKA. At the beginning of 2020, a zoonotic disease emerged which resulted in a global pandemic, namely Covid-19. Researchers around the world believe that the Covid-19 pandemic is caused by diseases transmitted by bats and pangolins. This study analyzes the effect of pandemics of wild animal-borne diseases on wildlife ownership. The research was conducted in the period 2020-2021 using a literature review method from media coverage, supported by scientific articles and reports from institutions/foundations, especially the latest report by the Social Media Animal Cruelty Coalition. The results of the study show the impression that pandemics of wild animal-borne diseases have no effect on wildlife ownership, as evidenced by the widespread ownership of wild animals by the general public, community leaders, and even state civil servants. This finding is worrying because rampant wildlife ownership increases interactions between humans and wildlife which risk increasing zoonoses and possibly creating new pandemics. This issue must be addressed immediately through wider public outreach and the development of regulations regarding the risks and prohibitions against keeping wild animals.

Abstract

Waste management is a crucial thing to do as a form of responsibility for protecting the environment. However, sometimes ignorant hands cannot be conditioned, so that waste management is often not optimal. Not to mention that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the current capacity for waste is not just ordinary waste, but now medical waste is also included in the list of waste that needs to be managed properly and appropriately. Knowing that medical waste has a tendency to transmit advanced disease, various forms of policies and strategies are carried out by the government and medical personnel so that the management of medical waste can be handled properly. This writing used a descriptive qualitative method. The sources used rely on electronic media such as journals or electronic official websites and related books. The results of this paper conclude that the Indonesian government is expected to provide a forum and make it easier for medical personnel and related parties to manage medical waste appropriately and according to standards.

Abstract

Clean water is very important to ensure the survival of all living things, especially humans. Clean water contributes directly and indirectly to economic and ecology. The purpose of this study was to predict the monetary value of Springs Sembat resources as a provider of raw water in 2021 using the real market price method. The research was conducted on December 9, 2021, in the Springs Sembat area, which is administratively located in Kota Baru District, Jambi City, Jambi Province. The data were analyzed using economic valuation techniques. This valuation examines the direct use value of the use of the Sembat Springs source, namely the market value of the quantity of water produced minus the cost of water treatment. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the direct use value of the Sembat Springs ecosystem in 2021 was IDR 807,800,000, without considering the aspects of maintaining water treatment equipment, maintenance of distribution pipes, and worker wages.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in restrictions on people's daily activities. Including the Yogyakarta area which is famous for its tourism and education center. Changes indirectly allow changes in the rate of waste generation. The purpose of this study was to determine changes in the generation of waste generated in Yogyakarta during the pandemic and before. This study uses secondary data for data on waste generation and population in Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, and Gunung Kidul Regency. Analysis was performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with software. Waste generation in district areas tends to decrease compared to urban areas. However, judging from the rate of waste generation, the Yogyakarta City tends to decrease, while in the district it is increasing. When viewed from the ANOVA test, there was no significant change in waste generation during the Covid-19 pandemic. This also needs to be a concern where a decrease in waste generation is not always followed by a decrease in the rate of waste generation.
