Abstract

The high dependence of coastal communities in Tanjung Luar on the fisheries sector, including shark and ray fishing, has driven the development of sustainable alternative livelihoods. This community service program aimed to assist Processing and Marketing Groups (Poklahsar) in developing fish floss processing enterprises as a value-added product. The program was conducted on May 18 and 20, 2026, in Tanjung Luar, East Lombok, using a participatory approach that included initial surveys, group coordination, extension activities, fish floss production practices, and evaluation of the mentoring program. The results indicated an improvement in participants' knowledge and skills in processing, packaging, and marketing fish floss products. In addition to adding value to fishery products, the fish floss processing business has the potential to become an alternative source of income that can reduce the community's dependence on shark and ray fishing. Therefore, this Poklahsar mentoring program supports the economic empowerment of coastal communities while contributing to the sustainable conservation of marine resources.

Abstract

Pemenang District, North Lombok Regency, is one of the areas highly vulnerable to earthquakes due to its location within the active tectonic zone associated with the convergence of the Indo-Australian and Eurasian Plates. The 2018 Lombok earthquake demonstrated that community capacity for disaster preparedness requires continuous strengthening through community-based empowerment approaches. This community service program aimed to improve community knowledge, practical skills, and preparedness for earthquake disasters through community-based training. The implementation included needs assessment, education on earthquake risks and mitigation, evacuation simulations, first aid training, establishment of community disaster preparedness groups, and evaluation using pre- and post-training assessments. The program results indicated substantial improvement in participants' understanding of self-protection procedures, evacuation routes, emergency communication, and community roles in disaster management. The training also strengthened coordination among community members in developing community-based emergency response mechanisms, thereby enhancing local capacity to respond effectively to future earthquake events. These findings demonstrate that participatory disaster preparedness training can significantly improve community resilience and contribute to sustainable disaster risk reduction efforts in Pemenang District, North Lombok Regency.

Abstract

Limited access to electricity remains a major challenge for communities in remote areas, including several villages on Adonara Island, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. The archipelagic geographical condition has restricted the optimal expansion of conventional electricity networks, causing communities to experience difficulties in fulfilling basic energy needs. This community service program aimed to implement portable solar panel technology as an environmentally friendly, practical, and locally suitable solution for independent energy access. The implementation method included energy needs assessment, renewable energy technology education, installation of portable solar panel systems, user training, maintenance guidance, and evaluation after implementation. The results showed that portable solar panel technology improved community access to alternative energy sources for lighting, communication device charging, and small-scale household productive activities. The program also increased community awareness regarding renewable energy utilization and independent energy management. The implementation of portable solar panels provides a relevant approach to supporting energy independence among remote rural communities and strengthening renewable energy adoption in island regions.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in areas with limited access to nutritious food and low utilization of local food resources. Timor Tengah Selatan Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, is one of the regions facing challenges in fulfilling family nutrition due to economic constraints, dietary patterns, and limited household food diversification. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of housewives in preventing stunting through the optimization of Sustainable Food Yard (Pekarangan Pangan Lestari/P2L) as a source of nutritious family food. The implementation methods included initial assessment, education on stunting and balanced nutrition, training on yard utilization, practical cultivation of food crops and vegetables, and continuous assistance in managing household food production. The results showed an improvement in participants' understanding of the relationship between food availability, nutrition, and stunting prevention. Participants were also able to implement simple yard management practices to provide more diverse and nutritious family food sources. This program demonstrates that household-based empowerment through sustainable food yard optimization can support family food security and serve as a preventive strategy to reduce stunting risks in rural communities.

Abstract

Ikat weaving is one of the prominent cultural products of East Nusa Tenggara with strong economic and local identity values. However, many rural artisans still face marketing challenges due to limited digital technology adoption, restricted market access, and insufficient capability in managing online promotional strategies. This community service program aimed to improve the capacity of ikat weaving artisans in Nita Village, Sikka Regency, through the implementation of digital marketing based on e-commerce platforms. The program methods included partner needs assessment, digital marketing training, product catalog development assistance, optimization of social media and e-commerce platforms, and evaluation of participants’ capabilities after the program. The results showed improved artisans’ understanding of digital marketing strategies, product content management, basic product photography techniques, and the use of digital platforms to expand market reach. In addition, artisans were able to develop product identities through cultural storytelling approaches that increased the attractiveness of ikat weaving promotion. The implementation of digital marketing provides opportunities for artisans to improve consumer access, strengthen business sustainability, and enhance the competitiveness of local ikat weaving products in broader markets.
