Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of local residents, particularly women from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), in utilizing limited land through hydroponic-based urban farming methods. Tembok Dukuh District, a densely populated area in Surabaya, faces limited green space and a high dependency on external food supplies. Through this program, participants were introduced to the concept of hydroponics, trained in constructing simple installations, and taught techniques for planting and maintaining vegetables. The implementation method included socialization, hands-on demonstrations, and mentoring sessions over a three-week period. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding of hydroponic systems and their ability to apply these techniques in their home environments. This initiative is expected to serve as a sustainable solution for strengthening household food security and fostering creative economic opportunities in urban areas.

Abstract

Persons with disabilities often face barriers in gaining recognition and protection of their rights within society. The low level of public awareness remains a major obstacle to creating an inclusive and disability-friendly environment. This community service project aims to enhance awareness and understanding among residents of Sidomulyo Village, Sleman Regency, regarding the rights of persons with disabilities through a participatory mini project approach. The method consisted of initial observation, interactive socialization, development of educational media (posters and videos), and participatory evaluation. The results indicate a significant increase in public knowledge of disability rights, as evidenced by the pre- and post-activity questionnaire. Furthermore, a local resident group was formed to continue promoting inclusive education in the community. The mini project approach proved to be an effective and practical method for fostering community-based social awareness. It is hoped that this activity can be replicated in other regions with appropriate contextual adaptations.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service initiative was to socialize the importance of implementing Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in teaching materials at schools in the Batukliang District. The activities began with a needs assessment through surveys and interviews with teachers in the region, which revealed that their understanding of OBE was still limited. Subsequently, intensive training was conducted to provide a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of OBE and how to implement them in the development of syllabi, Lesson Plans (RPP), and competency-based assessments. After the training, teachers applied the knowledge they had gained in their classroom teaching and provided feedback on the challenges they faced, particularly in developing competency-based evaluations. The training results indicated an improvement in the teachers' understanding of the OBE concepts and their application, although some challenges remained, such as time constraints, limited resources, and difficulties in creating holistic assessments. The support of school principals also proved crucial in ensuring the successful implementation of OBE. The post-training evaluations showed that the teachers found the activities valuable and felt that their skills in designing OBE-based learning had improved. Overall, this community service initiative successfully enhanced the quality of teachers' understanding and skills in implementing OBE in the Batukliang District. It is hoped that this initiative can serve as a model for other regions, with the goal of improving the quality of education that is relevant to the demands of the workforce.

Abstract

This community service program was a collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Business, Atma Jaya University Makassar, and the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of Puncak Regency, Central Papua. The activity was conducted in the form of Technical Guidance on Regional Taxes and Levies (PDRD), held from March 11 to 14, 2025, at Kyriad Haka Hotel, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The main objective was to strengthen the capacity of Bapenda officials in understanding the potential of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), mastering regional tax calculation techniques, and mapping local revenue (PAD) opportunities to optimize regional income. Participants consisted of leaders, division heads, and staff members of Bapenda as officially registered. Training materials included PDRD optimization, GRDP calculation methods, regional potential mapping, as well as the administration and management of technical guidance. The training applied a combination of interactive lectures, case studies, group discussions, and the development of a Follow-Up Action Plan (RTL). The results revealed significant improvement in participants’ comprehension of PDRD concepts, analytical skills in identifying tax potential, and the ability to design strategic plans for PAD optimization. This program is expected to serve as a starting point for strengthening regional revenue governance that is more effective, transparent, and data-driven.
