Abstract

This research to identify the root causes of people's reluctance to accept the government's declaration to certify land throughout Indonesia. The community's preconception has resulted in many uncertified waqf lands. According to data obtained from the head of the Padang Pariaman Regency's National Land Agency (BPN), only 6% of waqf lands in V Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman Regency, have been certified. Data collected between 2015 and 2020 showed there are approximately 156 prayer rooms (musalla) and 24 mosques that have not been certified. Furthermore, waqf land disputes are common in the region, including the withdrawal of waqf land by heirs and the creation of agricultural land on waqf lands whose management is neglected. Religious factors influence the reluctance to certify waqf land, particularly among the people of Padang Pariaman who still follow the Syattariyah order and have strong faith in the Nagari leaders, particularly the penghulu, who find it difficult to accept their waqf land for certification. The community stereotype holds that waqf lands can be taken over by the government if they are certified. Other factors contributing to the ignorance include the fact that the person who made the waqf or his heir no longer resides in the area

Second, women also play a role as community members who always plant the seeds of peace in society. Third, millennial women always actively participate in campaigning for justice, tolerance and peace on social media so that cases of degrading things that are different from women can be minimized with content that educates the virtual world community where the majority of Indonesian people always surf on social media every day.

Abstract

Since Bangladesh emerged as an independent country, violence has become a part of its political process and activism. This paper challenges a dominant narrative that has been discursively constructed and promoted by secularist communities, civil societies, political parties (including the ruling party), and groups in Bangladesh throughout the years. A dominant narrative about religious violence claims Islamists are primarily responsible for political violence in Bangladesh. However, based on a robust analysis of thirty years of data on violence and other of credible sources, I have found that the dominant narrative is not backed by factual and quantitative evidence or a popular mandate but is constructed primarily to support and legitimize political persecution in the politics of Bangladesh. This paper offers a counter-narrative and argues that in Bangladesh, violence has become a political tool for opposition groups to acquire power and for incumbent regimes to retain power. Moreover, it states that religious parties are less violent than secular groups in Bangladesh.

Abstract

Gender equality in terms of economic participation and social standing of women appears to have contributed to violations of women’s rights. Compared to their peers with higher social positions, women with poor financial and social status are more likely to become victims of domestic violence abuse. As a result, women’s economic empowerment is critical to ensuring equal social treatment. Inequality in gender treatment can lead to abuse, harassment, and violence in the future. Perhaps women in Malaysia are economically under-empowered and have a social standing equivalent to men, they are more vulnerable to abuse. Should the people be concerned about women’s rights, which are already enshrined in the Qur’an and Prophetic Traditions, these breaches and violations are unacceptable. Hence, this research aims to examine the governing Qur’anic and Prophetic Traditions principles on women’s socio-economic rights and the preservation of their social rights in the face of domestic violence. The analysis is based on a qualitative and descriptive cross-sectional analysis of the governing statutes, reported cases, and data gathered from the respective administrative authorities. The research found that the low socioeconomic status of women is not a factor in domestic violence, as professional women also become a victim of domestic violence.

Abstract

This study aims to explain hudur al-qalb as a tasawuf psychotherapy method for mental health. As a literature research, this article will examine hudur al-qalb in the thinking of Sufi experts, such as al-Ghazali and Ibn al-’Arabi, and to what extent it can provide benefits in mental health, namely peace of mind and soul. This research has implications for efforts to cure mental stress by tasawuf psychotherapy. This research is qualitative in nature, namely it is carried out by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting narratives comprehensively on visual data to gain complete, comprehensive and holistic insight into the phenomenon of hudur al-qalb. The results of the study found that Hudur al-qalb is a condition in which the heart is awake, namely in a stand-by position. This vigilance keeps the heart in awareness, and of course in vigilance. This wakefulness keeps the heart in awareness and in ‘mindfulness’. This condition leads to intelligence of mind, meaning of life, clarity of heart, as well as silence and reassurance of the soul. In addition, this condition can also eliminate mental anxiety and reduce negligence.

Abstract

One of the key concepts of Sufism as localized or indigenized Islamic wisdom in Asia is compassion (rahma). The school of the Oneness of Being (Wahdat al-Wujud) provides valuable examples for this concepts, esp., in the commentaries on the treatise of Fusus al-Hikam by Ibn al-‘Arabi. In particular, the chapter on the prophet Zakariyya demonstrate the reflection on the concept of mercy in the school of the Oneness of Being. The indigenization of this Sufi tradition is based on these commentaries that has been of utmost importance for the school of the Oneness of Being. The article analyzed some of these commentaries in the light of this localization process. Commentaries that emerged in and around the Indian Ocean, e.g., Al-Qāshānī, Jāmī, and Ilāhābādī, were selected. They can be considered part of the local wisdom in the Asiatic realms. The current article found the idea of indigenization of key concepts of Islamic spirituality in Muslim communities, particularly through Ibn ‘Arabi’s work.

Abstract

Food waste is a critical concern under SDGs 12 due to its global welfare implications. Islam, with its substantial following worldwide, can play a role in addressing this issue, particularly through the involvement of Muslim millennials. This study aims to explore the impact of religiosity, product usage efficiency, and intention to reduce food waste, with da’wah, Instagram, and Muslim eating manners as mediators. Quantitative research was conducted through an online survey of Indonesian millennials using purposive sampling. The research model, consisting of five hypotheses, was analyzed using the PLS-SEM analysis method. Results indicate that individual religiosity significantly influences Instagram proselytizing and eating behavior among Muslim millennials. Instagram proselytizing strongly affects millennial Muslim consumer behavior, particularly in terms of food consumption efficiency. Additionally, Muslim millennials’ eating etiquette impacts food consumption efficiency and environmental awareness. The efficiency of food consumption can shape millennials’ intention to reduce food waste. Implications of this study include promoting millennial involvement in food waste reduction, sustainable agricultural practices, improving literacy on food consumption efficiency, incorporating food waste education in Islamic religious curricula, and fostering collaboration among Muslim millennial organizations in Indonesia’s food waste reduction programs.

Abstract

Public space is an extremely vital necessity in social life. In architecture, public space belongs to everyone living in an area, city, or settlement. Public spaces like communal spaces have particular profiles. If we talk about the need for gender determination, we can say more about women’s space. Yogyakarta and Bursa are similar cities characterized with a majority of Muslim citizens. Both have Muslim Settlements known, respectively, as Pathok Negoro and the area of Cumalikizik. Pathok Negoro, specifically located in Mlangi, has two patterns to encircling the number of nodes for the public spaces in the form of prayer room/mushola and pondok pesantren (Islamic boarding school) as the new nuclei at the neighborhood level. These spaces are special for women and an imam who leads in each Mushola or prayer room. The existence of two neighborhood levels in Mlangi is based on religious activities, namely of the santri (Islamic boarding school students) and Mlangi citizens. Mlangi accommodates several pondok pesantren so there is ample space to expand (multi nuclei/polycentric). Around the Cumalikizik area, there is a camii or Mosque and it serves as the most central communal space for women.
