Abstract

Recent developments in the technology of the Internet of Things (IoT) have led to a more convenient and contactless home automation system. This paper presents an IoT-based home lighting automation system using KY-038 sound detection as a trigger. The functioning principle is based on sound intensity exceeding a certain threshold, which is then processed by an ESP32 microcontroller to control lighting via Wi-Fi in real-time without the need for physical switches. This does not relate to any voice recognition system that uses cloud-based processing, but rather provides simplicity and faster response time through local processing. Testing was done on the performance of the system with variations in distance and sound intensity, where each scenario was repeated 10 times for validation purposes Experimental results show that detection accuracy of 90-100% up to 3 meters with response times between 0.8-1.1 seconds. The system has been tested indoors under conditions of low to moderate ambient noise levels and found reliable operation. It can be integrated with IoT platforms for remote monitoring as well as manual control from mobile applications. This implementation will be very convenient for users especially those having limited mobility and can support energy efficiency in smart home environments by activating lights only when necessary.

Abstract

Floods are natural disasters that often occur in Indonesia and sometimes cause great material and human losses. This paper describes the design and implementation of an IoT-based flood early warning system using ESP32 microcontroller and HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor technology. The system is capable of automated river water level measurements at 5 minutes interval with real-time data sent to a web-based monitoring dashboard. Field validation was conducted in a quantitative experimental study at a river dam facility located in Jombang Regency. Performance testing results show that the system has high reliability, achieving 98.63% data transmission success rate. The HC-SR04 sensor has measurement accuracy of 97.69% with Mean Absolute Error (MAE) value equal to 2.31%. The warning mechanism works by comparing the water level with certain thresholds so that the dashboard can display safe or alert status conditions based on measurements made by the HC-SR04 sensor. Experimental results prove that this system is effective and economically feasible as a flood early warning solution for vulnerable regions, enhancing disaster preparedness capabilities significantly.

Abstract

Indoor security has become an increasingly important concern as digital technology continues to advance. Traditional alarm systems face two recurring limitations: the inability to support remote monitoring and the tendency of conventional motion sensors to produce false alarms under varying ambient temperatures. This study designs a room intrusion detection system using a laser beam as the trigger mechanism and an ESP32 microcontroller as the IoT-based control unit. The hardware implementation employs a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor with a 10-sample averaging technique to reduce signal noise, combined with hysteresis logic operating within a threshold range of 800 to 1100. The system is connected to the ThingSpeak cloud platform to enable real-time status updates. Testing across five lighting scenarios shows that the system reliably detects laser interruptions when LDR readings fall below 720 and returns to a safe state once readings exceed 1100. Security status updates were transmitted to the ThingSpeak dashboard with consistent HTTP responses (status code 200) for each condition change. These results indicate that ESP32 offers practical advantages in wireless connectivity and energy efficiency for a low-cost room security solution.

Abstract

Margonda Residence Apartments 3, 4, and 5 in Depok face challenges in managing unit maintenance reservations, primarily due to the absence of an integrated communication system between the Tenant Relation staff and the Technician Supervisor (SPV Teknisi). The manual process that has been in place leads to delayed responses, unclear work status, and difficulties in monitoring technician schedules in real time. This study aims to design and develop a web-based application to support a more structured reservation management process among Tenant Relation staff, Technician Supervisors, and apartment residents. The system was developed using the waterfall method, covering the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The resulting system includes features for reservation management, repair logs, technician management, inventory management, and an inter-user messaging system. This application is expected to accelerate the coordination of unit repairs and improve the operational efficiency of apartment management.

Abstract

Advances in information technology have had a positive impact on various fields, including administrative management in the educational sector. At the Muhammadiyah Al-Furqon Islamic Boarding School in Tasikmalaya—the subject of this study—the process of issuing student leave permits was previously conducted manually, often leading to challenges such as delays in record-keeping, data errors, and inefficiency. Additionally, parents had to visit the boarding school in person to request a permit, which did not always guarantee approval. As a solution, this study designed and developed a web-based student leave permit information system that can assist administrators in automatically recording and printing permission letters, as well as make it easier for parents to submit permission requests online. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Waterfall development model. Data collection was conducted through observations, interviews, literature reviews, and questionnaires. The feasibility study results, using the TELOS method, were as follows: Technical (96.7%), Economic (100%), Legal (100%), Operational (90.1%), and Schedule (88.5%), resulting in an overall score of 95.1%. These results fall into the "Highly Feasible" category, indicating that this website is highly effective in facilitating student permission requests for both parents and boarding school administrators.

Abstract

The growing adoption of information technology has pushed many Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to shift from manual to digital-based sales management. Despite this trend, a considerable number of MSMEs continue to rely on manual recording systems, which often lead to transaction errors, inaccurate data, and limited capacity for product information display. This study aims to design the UI/UX of a web-based bag sales information system for Carrefour Bag MSME to improve sales management efficiency and user experience. The system was developed using the Waterfall method, covering four stages: requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and evaluation. Key features include user authentication, dashboard, product management, shopping cart, checkout, sales transactions, and sales reporting. The interface was designed to be simple, modern, and accessible for both administrators and customers. Usability was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS) involving 30 respondents, yielding a mean SUS score of 86.6, which falls within the Excellent category. These results indicate that the system meets acceptable usability standards and is suitable for implementation at Carrefour Bag MSME to support more efficient and effective sales operations.

Abstract

The increasing adoption of Solid State Drives (SSDs) as primary storage media requires careful selection of file systems that can deliver optimal performance and efficiency. Although numerous studies have compared file system performance, most focus on only two file systems or employ limited testing scenarios. This study evaluated the performance and efficiency of NTFS, exFAT, and EXT4 file systems on SSD using a multi-workload benchmarking approach in an Ubuntu Server 22.04 environment running on Oracle VirtualBox. Testing was conducted across five workload scenarios: Sequential Read, Sequential Write, Random Read, Random Write, and Small File Management, with throughput, latency, IOPS, CPU utilization, and storage overhead as measured parameters. Each scenario was repeated three times and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results indicated that exFAT tended to produce higher throughput on sequential workloads (544 MB/s on Sequential Read; 495 MB/s on Sequential Write), although differences with EXT4 were marginal. EXT4 showed clearer advantages on random workloads (44,700 IOPS on Random Read; 34,500 IOPS on Random Write) and achieved the fastest completion time of 101.2 seconds on Small File Management. exFAT recorded the lowest storage overhead (0.2%) and CPU utilization (4.6%). The study concluded that no single file system outperformed all others across every workload; therefore, file system selection should be aligned with the dominant workload characteristics of the target system.
