Abstract

This research was  aimed  to improve the students? logical thinking in XI MIA 1 of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta Academic Year 2014/2015 about reproduction system material through discovery learning application.       This research was a class action research which consisted of three cycles. Each cycle contains planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research subject was the students in XI MIA 1 of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta Academic Year 2014/2015. The data source was from the mind map that cover the  logical thinking aspects. Data collecting techniques of this research used observation, interview and documentation then data validation was using triangulation method. Data analyzing technique of this research was descriptive qualitative analysis which was done in three components, they are: data reduction, data presentation and drawing the conclusion or verification. The research? procedure used spiral mode which is interdependent.       The result of the research showed that the implementation of discovery learning improves the students? logical thinking that covers aspects of knowledge, comunication, thinking, and application. The persentage of knowledge aspect was 53,23% in pre cycle, 81,04% in first cycle , 89,11%, in second cycle, and 95,16% in third cycle . The persentage of comunication aspect was 28,33% in pre cycle, 35,08% in first cycle, 67,74% in second cycle, and 71,77% in third cycle. The persentage of thinking aspect was  28,33% in pre cycle, 58,87% in first cycle, 49,19% in second cycle, and 73,39% in third cycle. Then the persentage of knowledge aspect was  41,53% in pre cycle, 72,18% in first cycle, 79,03% in second cycle, and 77,42% in third cycle.       This research?s conclusion was the implementation of discovery learning can improve the students? logical thinking in X MIA 1 of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta academic Year 2014/2015 about reproduction system material. Keywords :discovery learning, logical thinking

Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology in the 21st century requires students to think critically, creatively and highly a positive attitude towards science, society, and possess initiative correspond to issues resulted by the impact of science and technology?s application. Learning model that correspond to the development of science and technology is STS learning model, because the learning model allows students actively involved in learning and to show the role of science and technology in society. The aim of this research is to know the influence of STS learning model toward biology learning achievement of X degree students at SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali in 2012/2013 academic year. This research was a quasi experiment research using posttest only non equivalent group design. This research applied STS learning model towards experimental group upon class X at SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali in academic year 2012/2013. Cluster sampling was used upon the population. Data was collected using test and non test method, and analyzed by t-test. T-test results of the three domains is t count > t table so that Ho is rejected. This research concluded that the application of STS learning model has taken good effect toward student?s achievement cognitive, psychomotor, and  affective domain in learning biology of SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali.Keywords: Science Technology Society Learning Model, Biology Learning Achievement.

Abstract

The aims the research determine the effect of the application guided discovery learning model with guided inquiry-based learning module concercing to naturalistic intelligence student grade VII at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. This study included in the quasi-experimental research. The study design was a Post-Test Only Nonequivalent Group using experimental class (guided discovery learning with the learning modules) and the control class (guided discovery learning). The population of this research was all students VII grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. The sampling technique using cluster sampling method and taken two classes, one class as the experiment and the class as a control. Data collection techniques using test descriptions, observation sheets, and school documents. Hypothesis testing using t-test. The results showed that the students' intelligence naturalistic experimental group and the control group was significantly different. The experimental group value of average general naturalistic intelligence 53.087 with a value 2,63 of  classifying aspects and 1.35 of know. Control group with a value of naturalistic intelligence 45,810 with classifying aspects 2,30 and know aspect 1,29. Based on the research proficiency level can be concluded that the application of guided discovery learning model with guided inquiry learning modules affect to the naturalistic intelligence at seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. Keywords: guided discovery learning, learning module, naturalistic intelligence

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to know  there was difference of critical thinking skill between INSTAD learning model combained concept map and conventional learning in studying biology of second grade students SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta specify on sains in 2012/2013 academic year.Quasy experiment and post-test only with nonequivalent group design were applied in this research. The populations were the second grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta specify on sains in 2012/2013 academic year. It was 188 students. The samples were 62 students that taken using cluster sampling technique in the form of two classes and placed into experimental class and comparitional class. The critical thinking skill information was determined by essay test with Facione?s critical thinking skill indicators. The demographic information was collected by a researcher ?made questionnaire and observation sheet. T-test was used for data analysis.The t-test?s value was -4,926 and significance value was 0,000 (lower than 0.05). The syntax of INSTAD learning model combained concept map had done well. Students agreed that INSTAD learning model combained concept map could train their critical thinking skill. Abstract

The aim of this research is to ascertain the influence of collaborative- constructivist learning models toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013.  This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design.  The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2012/2013.   Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X6 as experiment group and X7 as control group. Data was collected using test and non test.  Test method using critical thinking test. Non test method using observation sheet and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. Abstract

The purposes of the research are: (1) to know the influence of constructivist-metacognitive model towards students? cognitive learning outcome; and (2) to know the influence of constructivist-metacognitive model towards students? retention. This research was quasy experiment with posttest only nonequivalent control group design by using the experimental class (application of constructivist-metacognitive model) and control class (without application constructivist-metacognitive model). Research population were all students at the eleventh grade of science class at SMAN 3 Surakarta in academic year 2014/2015. The sampling technique was cluster random sampling, so the researcher chose XI MIPA 6 as the experimental class with 33 students and XI MIPA 5 as the control class with 32 students. Data were collected by testing and non-testing technique. Data were analyzed by t-test.Based on the t-test analysis, it is acquired that p-value of students? cognitive learning outcome is less than 0,050 (p (0,000) < 0,050), so H0 is denied. In summary, there is significant difference on cognitive learning outcome between the control class and the experimental class. T-test analysis about students? retention is acquired that p-value is less than 0,050 (p (0,016) < 0,050), so H0 is denied. It can be concluded that there is significant difference on students? retention between the control class and the experimental class.The conclusions of this research are: (1) constructivist-metacognitive model affects students? cognitive learning outcome; and (2) constructivist-metacognitive model affects students? retention. Keywords : constructivist-metacognitive model, cognitive learning outcome, students? retention

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve students? critical thinking skill on Environmental Pollution Subject at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta. The research is a Classroom Action Research with 2 cycles of action. Each cycle consist of 4 phases which is planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the observations showed, 1) interpretation skill 43.97%, 2) analysis 29.31%, 3) evaluation 32.76%, 4) inference 43.10%, 5) explanation 53.45%, and 6) self-regulation 52.59%. Average of students? critical thinking skill procentage is 42,53%.The method of data collection is through observation, tests, and documentation. Technical analysis of data is technical qualitative descriptive. Data validation is use triangulation methods.The results of the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject showed an increase of students? critical thinking skill. Students? critical thinking skill in the first cycle is 70,83%. Students? critical thinking skill in the second cycle is 75%.Based on the result of the research, we can conclude that the application of Problem Based Learning on Environmental Pollution Subject in general can improve students? critical thinking skill at class X MIA 3 of SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta, despite the increase that occurs varies in each cycle. Keywords : Critical Thinking Skill, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to increase the figural creativity of students through the implementations of 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram in students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/ 2013.This research was a Classroom Action Research with three cycles of action. Each cycle consisting of four phases which are plan, action, observation, and reflection. The observational subject was the students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/2013 amounting 32 students. The source of data comes from teacher and students. The observational data were obtained from the observation, interview and documentation. Data validation observation is using the methods of triangulation observer. Technical analysis of data was using qualitative descriptive. Research procedures were using interrelated spiral model.Result of the research showed that using 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram can increase figural creativity of students from pre cycle to first cycle, from first to second cycle, and second to third cycle. The process of learning was not fully and independently accomodating pre cycle students, so that the students were lack in expressing, developing, and linking the idea of the materials. Cycles I and II were not reaching the target. Then, in Cycle III there was an improvement so that be able to aim the target.The conclusion based on the result above is that 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram can increase figural creativity of the students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/ 2013.Keywords : 5E Learning Cycle, Interrelationship Diagram (ID), figural creativity

Abstract

Learning biology as part of the science consists of three aspects, namely the process (psychomotor), product (cognitive), and scientific attitudes (affective). In reality the classrooms are not conducive for the learning process is dominated by teachers and more advanced aspects of the product rather than process aspects and scientific attitude. consequently students are less oriented to the development of science process skills. Learning model that can facilitate the students to develop science process skills are collaborative-constructivist learning model. Both have characters that complement each other. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the influence of Reality Based Learning approach toward biology learning achievement of X graders of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in the academic year of 2012/2013.This study was a quasi experimental research. The research design was used post-test only with nonequivalent control group design with the experiment group applying Reality Based Learning aprroach in experimental group and classical course, question-answer  and exsperiment method in control group. The population of research was all X graders of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in the academic year of of 2012/2013. The sampling technique used cluster sampling.  The sample of this research consisted of X-5 grader as experiment group and X-6 grader as control group with 30 students for each class. Techniques of collecting data for learning achievement were test and non-test methods. The test method included an objective multiple choice test and esay. The non-test method included documentation, observation and questionnaire. The research hypothesis used t test.This research concluded that the application of Reality Based Learning approach affected significantly the biology learning achievement of X graders of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. Key Words: Reality Based Learning, Biology Learning Achievement.
