Abstract

Background: Ecological footprint changes is determined through measuring the interrelations amongst urban development, land-use transformation, energy transition and GDP growth. An econometric system analysis builds a foundation for modeling these coupling systems and provides insight into the future of these connections. The analysis also highlights ongoing energy transitions influence ecological footprint dynamics alongside urbanization and land use change. Methods: This study used an integrated econometric systems approach to analyze the dynamics of energy footprints (EFs) between 1990-2023. Descriptive statistics provide information about the long-term trends (up), Pearson’s correlations allow for analysis of relationships between variables, while PCA reveals the major determinants of Energy Footprints with relative contributions through weighted coefficients. The Vector Error Correction Model provides insight into both short-term adjustments and long-term equilibrium for Energy Footprints, urbanization, land-use change, land surface temperature, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, energy transition, and GDP per capita. Results: Findings show that the continued growth of cities and changing land uses are putting significant ecological pressure. The VECM indicates that 41% of annual deviations from the long-term mean (average) are being corrected by the system, demonstrating the long-term relationship between these two systems is stable. Conclusion: To rebalance the demand for growth against the ecological capacities of our planet, integrated land use planning, green infrastructure, and sustainable development policies must be created as a result of combined impacts of urbanization, land-use changes and changes in energy consumption.

Abstract

Women provide most of the labor in smallholder farming, yet their control over land remains limited. riculture is done by women while their ownership of land is constrained. This research sought to establish the relationship between the rights to land and women's in. It specifically focused on land access, ownership documentation, control over farming decisions, and awareness of legal rights. Using a descriptive, mixed-methods design, 310 women were sampled from a population of 1,562 through stratified and simple random sampling. Data came from questionnaires, key informant interviews, and focus groups. Quantitative data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, cross-tabulations, and ordinal regression; qualitative data were analyzed thematically. Results show 60.2% of women had full land access, but only 5.5% had sole ownership. All women with full rights awareness and 80.7% of independent decision-makers had high participation. Significant associations were found (χ² up to 53.074, p < 0.01). Regression results highlight that limited decision-making (β = -1.605, p = 0.005) and low rights awareness (β = -18.762, p < 0.001) reduce participation. The study finds that secure land rights, decision-making autonomy, and knowledge of entitlements strongly shape engagement, while gaps in control and awareness keep many women from fully participating in farming.

Abstract

Children residing in urban informal settlements continue to have differing levels and access to education services despite the free primary education program and policies to support children’s transition to school within Kenya. This study examines how parental income impacts the ability of children, living in three informal settlements (Kibera, Mathare and Korogocho), to gain access to primary education. Using a mixed methods approach, the study analyzed survey data from 347 respondents, 11 interviews and nine focus groups, and the findings supported Educational Productivity Theory and Classical Liberal Theory of Equal Opportunity. The results of the study indicated that having adequate school materials positively impacted the children’s attendance and accessibility to school (β = 0.35). Poverty negatively impacted children’s access to education (β = 0.25). There was a moderate association between unemployment and psychosocial factors, giving a moderate association (β = 0.16, p = 0.031). A connection also existed between job losses and psychosocial factors. From qualitative data from the participants, one can conclude that parents struggle to satisfy their children’s educational requirements like buying school uniform and ensuring they have something to eat. The current study indicates that family material and financial resources are positively associated with educational opportunities for children.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Central Bank policies on economic stability in Nigeria. The study was evaluated empirically over a period of forty years (1985 to 2024). Money supply, liquidity ratio, monetary policy rate and exchange rate were used as proxies of Central Bank policies while Real Gross Domestic Product growth rate was used to proxy economic stability. The study adopted ex-post facto research design and made use of annual time series data which were mainly sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) statistical bulletin. The major techniques of data analysis adopted include Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) unit root test, bounds cointegration test and Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. The ADF unit root test showed that all the variables have mixed stationarity. That is, [I(0)] and [I(1)]. The bounds cointegration test result showed that there is a cointegration (long run relationship) among all the variables. The ARDL showed that the findings of the study showed that Money supply and exchange rate have positive and significant effect on Gross Domestic Product growth rate in Nigeria both in the short-and long-run, liquidity ratio has a negative and non-significant effect on Gross Domestic Product growth rate in Nigeria both in the short and long run while monetary policy rate has a negative and significant effect on Gross Domestic Product growth rate in Nigeria in the long run. Based on the findings, the study concluded that Central Bank policies play a vital role in promoting economic stability in Nigeria. It was recommended among others that Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should enhance transparency and consistency in its monetary policy formulation and communication in order to promote economic stability. This is because frequent changes or unclear signals in money supply control, interest rate decisions and exchange rate management may create uncertainties in the economy.

Abstract

The exhibition and conference service industry has emerged as a fundamental component of China's contemporary service economy. In this article, a complete investigation into the development of the industry, its function in the economy, and its potential future trajectory is presented. The historical evolution of exhibition economics in China, the incorporation of conferences into the service economy, and the interaction between globalisation, digitalisation, and sustainability are all topics that are investigated in this book. The report shows potential for regional diversification, technological innovation, and international collaboration by analysing constraints such as talent shortages, infrastructural needs, and external shocks. These challenges are evaluated in order to highlight opportunities. The discussion places an emphasis on the industry's ability to affect global service economics as well as its contribution to the modernisation of China's economy.

Abstract

This study investigates weaknesses in the current budgeting practices of non-state higher education institutions, including over-reliance on a single revenue source, a disconnect between financial planning and management accounting, and the absence of a responsibility centre framework. An integrated budgeting model grounded in responsibility centre principles with real-time variance tracking across all units is proposed.

Abstract

This research aims to highlight the concept of organizational awareness and its role in achieving sustainable competitive advantage through an exploratory study within the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities. The research stems from the following question: To what extent does organizational awareness, in its various dimensions, contribute to enhancing an organization's ability to achieve sustainable competitive advantage The research employed a descriptive-analytical approach. Data was collected using a questionnaire distributed to a sample of ministry employees to identify the prevailing level of organizational awareness and its impact on the dimensions of sustainable competitive advantage: quality, efficiency, innovation, and responsiveness. The research yielded several findings, most notably a significant positive correlation and influence between organizational awareness and achieving sustainable competitive advantage. This indicates that a high level of organizational awareness contributes to improved institutional performance and enhances an organization's ability to sustain itself and adapt to changes. The results also demonstrated the importance of fostering a culture of organizational awareness through leadership, training, and knowledge sharing. The research recommends adopting administrative policies that promote organizational awareness among employees, given its pivotal role in supporting sustainable competitive advantage and achieving the ministry's strategic objectives.
