Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Readathon Program and library socialization in enhancing critical thinking skills and reading comprehension among students at SMP Negeri 34 Kota Bekasi. Reading is a fundamental skill essential for learning and developing students' critical thinking abilities. According to Anisa et al. (2021), "a lack of literacy can hinder students' critical thinking skills." Therefore, programs that involve libraries as learning centers are necessary to increase students' reading interest. The research method employed a quantitative descriptive approach, involving 1,041 students from grades VII to IX, with a random sample of 270 students. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, interviews, and tests to measure reading comprehension and critical thinking skills before and after the program was implemented. Statistical analysis used paired t-tests to examine the significance of score changes. The results showed that the average reading comprehension score increased from 65.4 to 78.9, and critical thinking skills improved from 61.3 to 75.7 after the program. The paired t-test indicated a significant increase at p < 0.05. Thus, the Readathon Program and library socialization proved effective in enhancing students' literacy. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of developing engaging literacy programs that involve libraries as learning centers. Schools are encouraged to continue developing literacy activities to foster a strong literacy culture within the school environment.

Character education has a high level of urgency in building a society that is sensitive to the surrounding environment, moral, solid, and has integrity. However, in the current era of modernization, there is an alarming crisis of character education in Indonesian society. This research aims to analyze the cultivation of character education values in the Bejiruyung Village community through the Gerakan Bejiruyung Bersedekah. The research method used is qualitative case study with data collection techniques through interviews and observations. Based on the results of interviews and observations, it can be analyzed that there are character education values instilled in the Bejiruyung Village community through the Gerakan Bejiruyung Bersedekah. The embedded character education values include religion, social care, tolerance, communicative, discipline, and honesty. These values can be attached to the community because the Gerakan Bejiruyung Bersedekah is committed and consistent in spreading benefits and has sustainable programs. The novelty of this research lies in the community-based approach that shows that social activities can serve as an effective tool in character education. The implication is that the results of this study can serve as a reference for the development of character education programs at the local level. Therefore, it is recommended that charity programs be strengthened and integrated into the education curriculum to create a more supportive environment for character building.

Abstract

Advances in artificial intelligence technology are increasingly reaching a wider target user. Most recently, the emergence of Meta AI, a sophisticated communication feature embedded in the Whatsapp social media platform. In this case, the NgajiTafsir.com website management community seeks to innovate by utilizing the Meta AI application prompting in creating Islamic content based on the interpretation of the Qur'an. This research aims to examine the opportunities and challenges of applying AI theoretically and practically managing the creation of Qur'anic interpretation website content based on Meta AI prompting on the Whatsapp application. The method used is a mix-method with experimental data collection and data analysis based on literature studies. The result of this finding is that the Whatsapp-based Meta AI prompter made important mistakes in quoting verses of the Qur'an quoted in 3 out of 10 essays as well as citing the identity and reference details of the book of tafsir in 4 of the book of tafsir. So that there are opportunities to use it: a) as an effective and efficient media for accessing information, 2) interactive education provides a new learning experience for users, 3) personalization of interaction with users in a natural and intuitive way. Meanwhile, the challenges are the risk of errors that require sophisticated human resources, the basic character of the Whatsapp application which is the home of Meta AI, and the monotonous and simple programming language. So researchers argue that using of Whatsapp-based Meta AI prompting is vulnerable to be interacted with scientifically and in-depth.
