Abstract

Nursing students frequently made errors or near-misses due to non-compliance with patient safety protocols, including authenticating medication administration rights, verifying patient identification, and reviewing allergy status. This study was conducted using cross-sectional design at nursing Academy in Jakarta. The inclusion criteria were nursing diploma student at grade 3, nursing students who had not passed any patient safety training courses, those who passed the credit of “Fundamentals of Nursing and Management Patient Safety”, and those who started learning in the clinical setting. The Health Professional Education in Patient Safety Survey (H-PEPSS) was designed by Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to evaluate recently students' levels of clinical safety. A descriptive statistic was used to analyze data using mean, standard deviation. A simple linear regression was done to determine the relationship between gender, age, and religion with patient safety competence. About 55% student have moderate level of competence, 28% good, and 20% excellent. There was no significant difference on patient safety competence among nursing students in 8 nursing colleges in Jakarta (p>0.05). Gender was associated contributed significantly to the variance in patient safety competence with R square was 28.8%. The study suggests nursing institutions should develop new approaches to improve patient safety competence and culture among students, preparing them for advanced technology education in healthcare institutions.

Abstract

Background: Individuals with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) usually engage in minimal physical activity, as renal failure progresses in chronic kidney disease (CKD), muscle mass and physical function decrease. Physical activity (PA) is important in maintaining/improving health in all population. Aim of this study to evaluate effect exercise of combine static stretching and dynamic stretching increasing Physical Function in CKD on HD patients. Methods:  design of this  study was quasi experiment in one group 39 respondents CKD on HD patients meet inclusion criteria. Implementation 12 weeks intradialytic exercise combine static and dynamic stretching lower limbs include leg, ankles, knee, femoral and hip. During exercise evaluate using Borg Skill to know level of fatigue. Comparing with before-after test Time Up and Go 3 meters return measurement. Result: The results of this study demonstrate that the mean values of functional balance, which are much lower in this population than in their healthy counterparts, can be improved by a video-based intradialytic exercise program that includes stretching and endurance activities. In particular, notable advancements were noted in the average TUG test 3 meter return result, which is a reliable indicator of hospitalization, cardiovascular events, and mortality in dialysis patients. Conclusion all participants reported after 12 weeks static and dynamic stretching felt more flexible range of motion knee and leg, walking  stronger than before and felt more conformable in walking reported, significant different before and after given static and dynamic stretching, both Static and dynamic stretching effective for improving functional balance and physical performance, Recommended  static and dynamic stretching to be rutine activity in Hemodialysis unit.

Abstract

Background: The Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 Generic Core Scales is a modular instrument for measuring health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) in children and adolescents aged 2 to 18 years. The Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 GCS consists of 23 items applicable to healthy school and community populations and populations of children with acute and chronic health conditions. The Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 Generic Core Scales) is a modular instrument designed to measure health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) in children and adolescents aged between two and thirteen years. It measures health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) in children and adolescents with progressive chronic kidney disease (CKD), regardless of the underlying etiology, due to the need for regular follow-up visits, strict medication regimens, and dietary intake. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 GCS Indonesian version in children with CKD undergoing hemodialysis (HD) in the Dialysis Unit of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Methods: This type of research is analytical and observational in nature. The Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 GCS were administered to 30 children and 30 parents recruited from a pediatric dialysis unit. This study was conducted at a pediatric dialysis unit at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital Jakarta, Indonesia, in Mei-Juni 2024. Validity was tested using Pearson product moment, and reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha. Results: A total of 30 children and 30 parents undergoing hemodialysis agreed to participate. The average age of the patients was 8–18 years old. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the total Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 GCS (α child self-report 0.918; α parent proxy report 0.928). Conclusion: The Indonesian versions of The Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 GCS were valid and reliable instruments to measure the HR-QoL of children with CKD on hemodialysis. The Peds QLᵀᴹ 4.0 GCS can be applied to provide relevant evidence that helps the function of quality of life among Indonesian patients on hemodialysis in evaluating health programs.
