Abstract

Fructose consumption has increased markedly in recent decades, paralleling the global rise in chronic kidney disease (CKD). This narrative review examines how excessive fructose intake impairs renal function through pathways involving oxidative stress, inflammation, uric acid metabolism, and insulin resistance. Peer reviewed studies from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar were analyzed to explore the biological mechanisms linking fructose to renal dysfunction. The review reveals that high fructose diets especially those involving artificial sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup exacerbate kidney damage, promote hypertension, and accelerate fibrosis. Countries with high fructose intake show increased CKD prevalence, underscoring the urgency of public health responses. Although sugar reduction policies such as taxation and labeling regulations have shown promise, gaps remain in understanding long term metabolic effects and genetic interactions. Future research should focus on targeted interventions to mitigate fructose induced kidney injury. This study emphasizes the need for immediate, evidence based dietary and policy strategies to address the global burden of fructose related kidney disease.

Abstract

Educational games have emerged as effective tools to improve health literacy among children and adolescents, significantly impacting knowledge acquisition, behavior modification, and long term health outcomes. This narrative review systematically examines existing literature to evaluate the effectiveness of gamified interventions designed for youth health education. A structured literature search was conducted across major academic databases, including Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar, using targeted keywords and stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria. Findings indicate that gamification enhances learning engagement and sustains motivation, particularly in mental health literacy, nutrition education, physical activity promotion, and chronic disease management. Despite consistent evidence supporting their effectiveness, systemic issues such as limited technological infrastructure, cultural stigmatization, varying degrees of governmental and educational policy support, and differing accessibility across socio economic contexts significantly moderate outcomes. Discussion highlights the critical role of contextually relevant, user centered game design and emphasizes the necessity of robust infrastructural investments, policy reforms, and professional development for educators. Future research directions recommend longitudinal studies to evaluate sustained impacts, cross cultural comparative analyses, and economic feasibility assessments. Ultimately, the strategic implementation of educational games, supported by strong multi sector collaboration, presents considerable potential to bridge global health literacy gaps, underscoring the urgency for continued development and refinement in gamified health interventions.

Abstract

Occupational health remains a global priority, particularly for high risk sectors such as healthcare, where workers face complex and evolving hazards. This narrative review examines the challenges of workplace safety, with an emphasis on the transformative role of technological innovation during and beyond the COVID 19 pandemic. A systematic search across Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar identified key themes, including stress related disorders, exposure risks, and the effectiveness of various interventions. Findings indicate that insufficient public health infrastructure, lack of training, and limited mental health resources exacerbate occupational risks. Effective mitigation strategies include improved access to personal protective equipment (PPE), tailored psychological support, and advanced digital tools such as AI based risk assessments and wearable monitoring systems. These technologies offer promising avenues to enhance preventive measures and enable real time hazard management. The study underscores the urgent need for integrated policies, increased investment in occupational safety, and cross sectoral collaboration to ensure equitable protection. Future research should prioritize longitudinal analyses of health impacts, global comparisons of safety protocols, and expanded evaluation of emerging technologies. A multidisciplinary and proactive approach is vital for building safer and more resilient work environments.

Abstract

Mining activities pose long term health risks to surrounding communities through exposure to toxic pollutants such as heavy metals, airborne particulates, and contaminated water sources. This narrative review synthesizes peer reviewed evidence from mining regions globally, revealing a consistent correlation between mining pollution and increased prevalence of respiratory illnesses, neurological impairments, and developmental disorders. Additionally, environmental degradation contributes to food insecurity, mental health challenges, and deepens existing socio economic disparities. While prior studies have established links between mining and adverse health outcomes, significant gaps remain in understanding cumulative, intergenerational effects and the combined impact of multiple contaminants. Moreover, there is limited research evaluating the effectiveness of community based interventions in mitigating these health risks. This review highlights the urgent need for integrated policy approaches that bridge environmental health, regulation, and local empowerment. Strengthening enforcement, enhancing community engagement, and investing in longitudinal health surveillance are essential steps forward.

Abstract

Malaria remains a major public health concern in many regions, despite global efforts toward its elimination. This study systematically reviews malaria elimination strategies, emphasizing the role of surveillance, vector control, and community based interventions. Using a comprehensive literature review, data from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were analyzed to assess epidemiological trends, intervention effectiveness, and persisting challenges. Findings indicate that active surveillance programs and integrated vector control measures have significantly contributed to malaria reduction in countries such as China, El Salvador, and Rwanda. However, human mobility, climate variability, and drug resistance continue to pose challenges, particularly in malaria endemic regions. To address these barriers, the study underscores the necessity of strengthening health systems, enhancing cross border collaborations, and leveraging emerging technologies for real time disease monitoring. Policymakers must tailor interventions based on regional epidemiological patterns and promote greater community engagement in malaria control efforts. Future research should focus on refining stratification models, assessing novel vector control strategies, and examining the long term sustainability of malaria elimination initiatives. By implementing targeted, evidence based approaches, malaria elimination can be accelerated, bringing the world closer to the goal of eradication.
