The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of the 5S program in PT Albea Rigid and Packaging Surabaya. Method: This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The data used in this study were secondary data which were obtained from the EHS Department of PT. Albea Rigid Packaging Surabaya which were later analyzed using several theoretical references. Variables in this research were observation of Sort, observation of Set, observation of Shine, observation of Standardize and observation of Sustain. The analyzed data were further interpreted and presented in a narrative form. Results: The results show that the implementation of 5S in the Injection Molding Production area of PT. Albea Rigid Packaging Surabaya, before the socialization, had a score of 16 points and after the socialization it increased to 40 points. Even though the score has increased, the implementation of the 5S was still not running optimally. Conclusion: The principle of Standardize still had the same score before and after the socialization, while for the other 3 principles, namely Sort, Set and Shine, there was an increase in points after the socialization.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The strengthening of health behavior intentions in disaster mitigation poses an urgent challenge to be addressed. There is a need to enhance health behavior preparedness in facing disaster threats, considering that the city of Palu is located in an earthquake-prone zone and has a history of being affected by earthquakes. This research aims to study health behavior and mental health in relation to disaster vulnerability, based on a case study of Huntap in the Tondo area, Palu City, Central Sulawesi, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) approach. Method: The type of research used is a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory model. Data collection utilizes questionnaires and observation sheets, supplemented by interview methods in the qualitative approach. Result: This study shows that the chi-square test results indicate a significant relationship between attitude, subjective norms, behavioral control, and mental health (<0.05) with health behavior. Meanwhile, in-depth interviews revealed barriers to health behavior, such as respondents' attitudes towards preparedness efforts and inadequate access to information and health workers. There is a pressing need for mental health interventions to improve preparedness. Moreover, there is a need for mental health interventions to improve mental health in promoting disaster preparedness efforts. Conclusion: This study concludes that mental health related to disaster vulnerability among the Huntap Tondo community is still lacking, which will impact disaster preparedness. Mental health interventions are essential to enhance preparedness and reduce disaster-related losses. Therefore, mental health interventions are needed to enhance preparedness for disasters and take action to reduce disaster losses and damage.

Abstract

Mining activities pose long term health risks to surrounding communities through exposure to toxic pollutants such as heavy metals, airborne particulates, and contaminated water sources. This narrative review synthesizes peer reviewed evidence from mining regions globally, revealing a consistent correlation between mining pollution and increased prevalence of respiratory illnesses, neurological impairments, and developmental disorders. Additionally, environmental degradation contributes to food insecurity, mental health challenges, and deepens existing socio economic disparities. While prior studies have established links between mining and adverse health outcomes, significant gaps remain in understanding cumulative, intergenerational effects and the combined impact of multiple contaminants. Moreover, there is limited research evaluating the effectiveness of community based interventions in mitigating these health risks. This review highlights the urgent need for integrated policy approaches that bridge environmental health, regulation, and local empowerment. Strengthening enforcement, enhancing community engagement, and investing in longitudinal health surveillance are essential steps forward.
