Abstract

This article aims to analyse Abu Rayyah’s criticism of Abu Hurairah in the context of understanding the hadith. The discussion of the narrators of the Prophet’s hadith has invited long-standing problems among hadith researchers ranging from friends to hadith recorders, which cannot be separated from this study. The negative aspect causes the Prophet’s hadith to be faced with doubt about its truth and opens up opportunities for those who have bad intentions towards Islam in general, especially towards the Prophet’s hadith. This article was reviewed using a literature study. Data collection techniques were conducted through identification, classification, and critical analysis of the hadith text, sanad, and matan. The analysis is done with a descriptive-analytical approach. This article concludes that the Prophet’s hadith polemics towards the matan and the sanad, which are made up of the narrators of the hadith themselves. The harshest accusations were directed at the Prophet’s companions, especially at the person of Abu Hurairah and his role in narrating the hadith of the Prophet. Mahmud Abu Rayyah said that in Abu Hurairah’s history, there were lies because he had memorised many hadiths. Indirectly, this accusation essentially casts doubt on the authenticity of Abu Hurairah in particular and in general to all of the Prophet’s companions. In the study of hadith science, all of the Prophet’s companions must have a just nature.

Abstract

This article discusses the practice of burying the umbilical cord in Indonesian Islamic tradition, which is an important part of the birth ritual. The burial of the umbilical cord not only has symbolic meaning but also reflects inherited local wisdom values. In the context of Indonesian society, this ritual is often complemented by various traditional ceremonies that demonstrate the relationship between life, health and the continuity of generations. In addition to cultural values, this article also explores the potential utilisation of stem cells derived from umbilical cords. Stem cells have significant medical applications, including in the treatment of various diseases. This research analyses how communities can utilise umbilical cord tissue not only as a spiritual symbol but also as a valuable medical resource. This opens up opportunities for dialogue between local traditions and innovations in medicine. With an interdisciplinary approach, this article invites readers to understand the importance of integration between local wisdom and scientific development. The findings are expected to provide new insights into traditional practices that are still relevant in the modern era and encourage people to consider collaboration between religious values, culture and medical advancements in their daily lives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the religious and cultural values embedded in the practice of Liwetan Gerhana, as well as its interpretation within Islamic law. Traditions are customs passed down through generations, each carrying profound significance for its practitioners. Often, these traditions are deemed sacred and essential to uphold. This research investigates the Liwetan Gerhana tradition for pregnant women, considering both Islamic legal perspectives and the local cultural context. This tradition represents a cultural heritage with deep meaning for the practising community, especially for pregnant women, who are seen as requiring protection and blessings. In Islamic jurisprudence, a solar or lunar eclipse (gerhana) is regarded as a manifestation of God’s greatness, typically observed through worship rather than specific rituals. The research method employed is fieldwork, with data collected via in-depth interviews and direct observation in Klinterejo Village, Sooko. The tradition is recognised not only as a cultural ritual but is also seen as compatible with Islamic principles, promoting the health and well-being of pregnant women. Findings indicate that, while this tradition has strong cultural roots, the community has successfully harmonised it with Islamic teachings, resulting in a dynamic syncretism widely accepted by the community. This fusion of culture and religion demonstrates the community’s ability to adapt to contemporary changes while preserving its cultural identity.

Abstract

The concept of naskh in the disciplines of the Qur’an and useful fiqh is understood as the cancellation of the previous Sharia law, which is replaced by a new law, as part of an adjustment to the needs and dynamics of the development of Muslims at the time of the Prophet Muhammad. This concept has generated polemics among scholars. Some allow it, and those who reject it. Through the descriptive-analytical method and reviewing various related literature references, the author attempts to present the views of scholars and specifically explore the views of Ali As-Shabuni, a contemporary scholar from Aleppo, Syria, in his work Rawāi’ Al-Bayān Tafsīr Āyāṭ Al-Aḥkām min Al-Qur’ān related to the dynamics of naskh. The results of this study show that Ali As-Shabuni’s view of naskh is contrary to the views of the majority of scholars on its permissibility. However, in his book, he provides a separate review of the wisdom behind the ordinance of naskh. He also gives a fairly detailed explanation to refute the views that reject the application of the concept of naskh in the Qur'an and Sunnah. He concludes that naskh has great significance in the formation of dynamic sharia law, as well as a gift in the form of the process of tadarruj al-hukm given by Allah to His servants.

Abstract

The environmental crisis that includes the scarcity of clean water requires conservation efforts that involve all levels of society, including from a religious perspective. This article discusses the role of ecological values in the fiqh of wudhu’, an important act of worship in Islam that uses water as a means of purification. Using a literature study approach, this article explores how the practice of wudhu’ exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad Saw, teaches water saving and aims to preserve the environment. The results of the study show that ecological values in the fiqh of ablution not only fulfil the ritual requirements of worship but also contribute to the preservation of nature, in line with the concept of maqashid sharia. By instilling ecological awareness in worship practices, Muslims can participate in the preservation of water resources and maintain environmental sustainability as a form of their responsibility as caliphs on earth. The conclusion of this study skors the importance of ecological awareness in daily worship as an effort to form a person who cares about the environment.

Abstract

The halal industry continues to develop along with the awareness of Muslims to consume and live a lifestyle that is by sharia principles. This research aims to first review and analyse the importance of Shariah compliance in the Sharia hospital industry in Indonesia, second review the regulatory framework for Shariah compliance in Sharia hospitals, third review the implementation of Shariah compliance (SC) in the Sultan Agung Semarang Sharia hospital. This research is empirical juridical research with qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that first, shariah compliance in Sharia hospitals is a must because Shariah compliance is the hallmark of this industry from conventional industries and will maintain the sustainability of this industry because the interests of Muslim consumers are guarded and protected. Secondly, the regulatory framework of Islamic hospitals consists of scattered several regulations, namely Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee, Law Number 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies, Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection (UUPK), Fatwa DSN MUI Number: 107/DSN-MUI/X/2016 concerning Guidelines for Hospitals Based on Sharia Principles. The regulations scattered in various rules do not specifically regulate Islamic hospitals, so these regulations are not adequate for regulating Islamic hospitals. In terms of SC implementation, there are various obstacles, including in medicines, where halal pharmaceuticals are still limited, as well as the use of Islamic financial institutions in transactions that have not been fully used.
