Abstract

The global tourism industry is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by technological advancements, environmental imperatives, socio-cultural shifts, and the prolonged effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study critically examines the current trends shaping tourism, identifies persistent challenges, and explores strategic opportunities for sustainable growth. Utilizing a qualitative research approach grounded in thematic content analysis, the study synthesizes data from peer-reviewed literature, international policy documents, and industry reports published between 2018 and 2024. The findings reveal that digital transformation—through innovations such as mobile applications, artificial intelligence, and smart tourism platforms—has significantly redefined tourist behavior and destination management. Sustainability has emerged as a critical priority for both policymakers and travelers, prompting increased investment in eco-friendly practices and community-based tourism. Additionally, the rise of personalized and experiential travel underscores a shift toward authenticity and cultural engagement. The post-pandemic recovery has accelerated preferences for domestic travel, flexible booking policies, and heightened health and safety protocols. However, challenges such as climate change, workforce shortages, over-tourism, and geopolitical instability continue to hinder the sector's resilience. The study highlights opportunities in technology integration, rural tourism development, public-private collaboration, and education for workforce enhancement. By offering a comprehensive and evidence-based analysis, this article contributes to the academic discourse on tourism and provides actionable insights for stakeholders aiming to navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving global tourism landscape

Abstract

The implementation of elementary school supervision has undergone a paradigm shift from evaluative supervision to collaborative mentoring oriented towards improving the quality of education. In this context, supervisors are required not only to carry out control functions but also to act as professional facilitators who provide continuous support to schools. Therefore, it is important to examine how supervision is carried out in accordance with the mentoring cycle, as well as the challenges and strategies that accompany it. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects included elementary school supervisors in the Kapanewon Turi, Pakem, and Cangkringan areas of Sleman Regency. Data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to obtain a comprehensive picture of the implementation, challenges, and strategies of supervision. The results of the study indicate that supervision implementation has been in accordance with the mentoring cycle, which includes planning, program planning mentoring, program implementation mentoring, and reporting. Supervisory practices have moved towards a data-driven, collaborative, and reflective approach. However, supervisors face various challenges, such as the vast area of supervision, the large number of schools, and a high administrative burden. To address this, supervisors implemented adaptive strategies such as prioritizing mentoring, utilizing communication technology, and flexible time management. The implementation of elementary school supervision has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and demonstrates a transformation toward collaborative, professional supervision practices. Despite facing various limitations, supervisors were able to develop adaptive and contextual strategies so that the mentoring process remains effective in supporting the continuous improvement of educational quality.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores how faith-based environmental stewardship practices in rural Muslim communities in Lombok, Indonesia, function as an embedded system of informal environmental education. Despite growing scholarly interest in community-based and indigenous approaches to environmental learning, the pedagogical dimensions of Islamic ecological practices in non-Western rural settings remain underexplored. Methodology: Drawing on an ethnographic approach, this study employed participant observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews, and documentary analysis across three rural villages in Lombok over an eight-month period. Thematic analysis guided the interpretation of data from thirty-two community members, including religious leaders, farmers, youth, and women. Results: Four interlocking themes emerged: (1) the mosque and Islamic religious gatherings as ecological classrooms; (2) ritualized environmental practices as lived curriculum; (3) intergenerational transmission of faith-based ecological knowledge through community elders and religious figures; and (4) Islamic faith as an intrinsic motivational framework for pro-environmental agency that transcends fear-based or economic incentive approaches. Conclusions: The findings suggest that faith-based environmental stewardship constitutes a sophisticated, culturally embedded pedagogical system capable of sustaining ecological values across generations. These practices challenge the dominance of formal, school-centred models in environmental education research and offer transferable lessons for place-based, community-anchored environmental education policy and practice globally.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of collateral quality in the settlement of non-performing financing at Bank NTB Syariah. The study is motivated by the importance of collateral as a risk mitigation instrument in Islamic banking, which plays a crucial role in determining the success of financing recovery. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving financing officers and risk management staff, and were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings show that collateral quality significantly influences the effectiveness of non-performing financing settlement. High-quality collateral characterized by clear legal certainty, complete documentation, stable value, and high liquidity can accelerate the settlement process and reduce losses, while weak collateral tends to slow down liquidation and increase financing risk. Several obstacles were identified, including incomplete legal documents, ownership disputes, declining asset values, low market demand for certain assets, and limited collateral appraisal capability. The bank addresses these issues through improved verification processes, inter-unit coordination, periodic valuation, prioritization of restructuring before collateral execution, and staff training. This study concludes that effective collateral quality management is essential to optimize non-performing financing settlement and maintain financing risk stability in Islamic banking.
