Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine growth response of cacao seedlings by givingvermicompost and watering time interval in the subsoil. The research had been conducted in theGreenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan on May 2013 untilAugust 2013 by using Randomized Block Design with two factors: vermicompost (0, 10, 20, 30%growth media volume) and watering time interval (1, 3, 5, and 7 days). The parameters observedwere plant height, stem diameter, total of leaf area, canopy fresh weight, canopy dry weight, rootfresh weight, root dry weight, root height, and water use efficiency. The results showed thatvermicompost has significant effects to plant height 4-14 WAP, stem diameter 4-14 WAP, total ofleaf area, root fresh weight, root height and water use efficiency but not significant to canopy freshweight, canopy dry weight and root dry weight. Watering time interval has significant effects toplant height 10, 12 and 14 WAP, stem diameter 8, 10, 12 and 14 MST, canopy fresh weight, canopydry weight,total of leaf area and water use efficiency but not significant to plant height 4, 6 and 8MST, stem diameter 4 and 6 WAP, root fresh weight, root dry weight, and root height.Theinteraction of vermicompost and watering interval had not significant.Keywords : vermicompost, Watering Time Interval, Cacao

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth and the production response of broccoli on application ofchicken manure and Phosphate Solubilizing fungi. This research was conducted in the field of BalaiPenyuluhan Pertanian (BPP) Kuta Gadung, subdistrict Berastagi Karo regency of North Sumatrawith altitude ± 1250 meters above sea level in January - April 2014 using a Randomized BlockDesign (RBD) factorial with 2 factors : chicken manure (0 kg , 3 kg , 6 kg ,9 kg per plot) and fungiphosphate solvent (10 ml , 20 ml , 30 ml per plant).The variable observations measured were plantheight , stem diameter , number of leaves , fresh weight per plant samples , selling fresh weight perplant sample and the number of chlorophylls. The results showed that the variable observationsresponse of broccoli plant height (cm) 6 weeks after plant ,broccoli stem diameter (mm) 6 weeksafter plant, number of leaves of broccoli plants (strands) 6 weeks after plant , fresh weight perbroccoli plant sample (g), selling fresh weight per broccoli plant sample (g) and the amount ofbroccoli chlorophylls was different significantly affected against chicken manure but nonsignificantly affect againts fungi phosphate solvent and both interactions.Keywords :Chicken Manure, Fungi Phosphate Solvent, Broccoli

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the response of growth and yield of shallot (Alliumascalonicum L.) on time applications and KNO3 concentrations. The research was conducted at Pasar1 street No. 89 Tanjung Sari Medan, with a height of 25 metre above sea level, began from Julyuntil September 2013. The design of the research was a Randomized Block Design non factorialwith 13 treatments were: Control (without treatments); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28,35 HST); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28 HST); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14,21 HST); (KNO3 5 g/l water + application at 14 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28,35 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at14, 21 HST); (KNO3 10 g/l water + application at 14 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water + application at 14,21, 28, 35 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water + application at 14, 21, 28 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water +application at 14, 21 HST); (KNO3 15 g/l water + application at 14 HST). Parameters observed wereplant height, tillers number, wet weight per sample, dry weight per sample, wet weight per plot anddry weight per plot. The results showed that all parameters observed were unsignificantly affectedby time applications and KNO3 concentrations except for plant height 5 – 7 weeks after planting.Key words : Shallot, time application, KNO3 fertilizer.

Abstract

Drainage and land cultivation be determaining factor for optimal production of sugar cane. For thatpurpose, this research aimed to know response growth of of sugar cane (Sacharum officinarum L.)to land cultivation on some drainage condition. This research was conducted in Plantation Field ofPT Perkebunan Nusantara II Kebun Sampali, Deli Serdang on July 2013 – January 2014, used splitplot design with two factor are; drainage (good and bad drainage), and land cultivation (maximumand minimum land cultivation). Parameter observed are plant height, stem diameter, number ofinternodes, and number of stem.The result showed that drainage significantly affect on plant height1-6 months after planting (MAP), stem diameter 1, 2, 5 dan 6 MAP, and number of internodes 1-6MAP. Land cultivatin significantly affect on plant height 1-6 MAP, stem diameter 1, 2, 3, 5 dan 6MAP, number of internodes 1-6 MAP, and number of stem 6 MAP. Interaction between two factorssignificantly affect on plant height 1-6 months after planting (MAP), stem diameter 1, 2, 5 dan 6MAP, and number of internodes 1-6 MAP. Best combination treatment showed on good drainageand maximum land cultivation.Keywords: drainage, land cultivation, sugar cane

Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the effect on gamma ray irradiation on vegetative growthand production of local onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) Var. samosir. The research was conducted atJl. Pancing, Medan, North Sumatera, with a height of 25 m above sea level began from April up toJuly 2014. Bulbs of onion were exposed to various doses of gamma irradiation (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12and 14 Gy) using Co60 source. Parameters observed were shoot length, leaves number, tillersnumber, harvesting age, bulb fresh weight, bulb dried weight, bulb diameter and average weight perbulb. The results showed significant difference between irradiated and unirradiated plants (control)growth and production. All parameter observed were lower than control. Irradiated plants 6 weeksafter planting at doses 6,8,10 12 Gy reduced shoot length 24.5%, 35.4%, 54.07%, 64.19%; leavesnumber 36.30%, 46.54%, 45.28%, 69.74%, respectively compared to control. There was no plantsustein alife at doses of 10, 12 and 14 in 7 weeks after planting. Irradiated plants at doses of 6 and 8Gy also reduced bulb fresh weight 56.40%, 70.85%, bulb dried weight 58.61%, 76.15%, bulbsdiameter 31,09% , 44.12%, average weight per tuber 59.6%, 78.45% respectively compared tocontrol.Keywords: onion, var. samosir, gamma ray irradiation

Abstract

The aimed of the research was to determine the best medium for micro shoot induction ofrubber plant (H. brasiliensis Muell. Arg.) from node explant in MS medium. Theresearch was carried out in the In Vitro Culture Laboratory, PT. Perkebunan NusantaraIII Kebun Gunung Pamela, Tebing Tinggi, Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. The researchbegan from April to June 2014. The research used Completely Randomized Design withsixteen treatments and six replications. The results showed that combination of BAP andNAA concentrations significantly affected on percent of sterile explants and percent ofshoots emergence. Each treatment showed different result and the MS Media + 1 mg/lBAP + 0 mg/l NAA was the best media for leaf formation of the microshoot.Key words: rubber, micro shoot, BAP, NAA

Abstract

This research aimed were to study the growth and the production of deli tobacco with the additionsome kind of nitrogen fertilizer on 30 days after planted. This research was conducted in the land ofPT. Perkebunan Nusantara II (PTPN II) located in Kebun Klumpang, ±25 meter asl, in September-November 2013. This experiment in factorial based on randomized blok design with two factorsand three replication, consite of nitrogen fertilizer (0, 10 gram/plant Zwavelzure Amonium,15.6 gram/plant Calcium Amonium Nitrat, 5 gram/plant Zwavelzure Amonium + 8 gram/plantCalcium Amonium Nitrat) and double spacing planting distance (100x50x45 cm, 100x50x40 cm,100x50x35 cm). The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves perplant, wet weight of leaf, length of leaf party Z, length of leaf party VA, width of leaf party Z, widthof leaf party VA, thickness of leaf party Z, thickness of leaf party VA. The results showed that thenarrow spacing plant has significant decrease parameters of plant height, stem diameter, the numberof leaf per plant and all production traits. The addition of nitrogen fertilizer significant increase allof the parameters except thickness of leaf party Z and thickness of leaf party VA. Interactionbetween plant spacing and addition of nitrogen fertilizer (100x50x45 cm + 10 gram ZA) showedsignificant effect of the width of leaf party Z on N1J0 (24,46 cm).Keywords: nitrogen fertilizer, deli tobacco, spacing planting distance.

Abstract

Evaluation Status of Organic Matter Content and Soil Physical Properties (Bulk Density, Texture and Soil Temperature) the Coffee Crop Land (Coffeea Sp.) in Some Districts Dairipurpose to makeevaluation status of the organic matter and soil physical properties (bulk density, texture and soil temperature) the coffee crop land (Coffeea Sp.) in some districts Dairi. Sampling using free methods tosurvey the level of review and analysis of data C- organic by Walkey and Black method, bulk densityby Ring Sample method, texture by Hydrometer method and soil temperature (oC) using the formula ofBraak, and interpret the nutrient status of the map through the program ArcMap 10. Parameters in the analysis are C-organik, bulk density, texture and soil temperature. The result of research showed thatthe nutrient status of the research area map C-organic consists of a very low criteria (3 sample), low(13 sample),being(12 sample) danhigh (10 sample). Bulk Density, porous criteria (13 sample) and solid (25 sample). Texture, very smoothcriteria (1 sample), smooth (6 sample), rather smooth (10 sample), being (9 sample), a bit rough (7 sample) dan rough (4 sample), andrezim Soil TemperatureIsohyperthermic (38 sample). Abstract

The research aimed is to determine soybean varieties toleran salinity through crossing of numbers soybean derivative varieties in the land of salinity with Anjasmoro varieties as female parent. Theresearch was carried out in plastic  house Agriculture’s Faculty of North Sumatera  University,Medan, In Indonesia with height ± 25 m above of surface of the sea.  Which was held in Mei toAugust. The research used Completely Randomized Design with five combination crossing with tenreplicanst to observe the result of crossing that is AnjasmorxN1, AnjasmorxN,AnjasmoroxN4 and AnjasmoroxN. A result of the reset shows that the result of crossing, an age ofparameter to get a flowers, a percentage of crossing success, an age of harvest, a numbers of podwhich contains 3 seeds and it is significant different but it is not significant to the number offlowers and weight for 10 seeds. 5Key words : crossing, genotype soybean, saline soil.2, AnjasmoroxN3
